Do you still own them?

Most of the early classic Pokemon Games (Red, Blue, Silver, Gold, etc) have been either remade or remastered on later consoles. But what about your old cartridges from the Game Boy/Game Boy Advance? Do you still own them? If so, how are they stored these days? Bonus points if they're still playable!

Yep! I have specifically never traded in any of my Pokemon games, and still have all my originals.

As a kid I owned: Yellow, Gold, Silver, Ruby, LeafGreen, Emerald, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, White and White 2.

In my adulthood I started putting money aside to be able to buy both games upon release (so, XY, ORAS, SM, etc). And I've since gone back and filled the gaps in my collection thanks to eBay and the likes.

But yep, still have all my games, even my 6th-birthday-gift Yellow 😂

Originals that I still have: Silver, Red, Yellow, Ruby, Emerald, and Mystery Dungeon Red

Traded or lost: Pokémon TCG GB, Sapphire, Gold, Pokémon Pinball RS, and FireRed

Acquired since: Green (Japanese), Blue, Crystal, Pokémon TCG GB, Sapphire, and LeafGreen. Replaced the battery in Yellow, Crystal, and TCG GB I think but Green and Blue are still dry.

Storage: I try to keep them in a system (GB/GBC/GBA/SP, N64 Transfer Pak, GB Player, DS/Lite) to keep the dust out, or the GBA slot in some DS game cases. I also have one odd GB/GBC game card case that I picked up somewhere. I admittedly have a couple loose in my desk drawer atm though...

Still own them all! My RBY/GSC games are unfortunately no longer playable bc of battery (which is ok because I have them on virtual console anyway), but all the others work fine.

Don't have any of my original Gen 1 or 2 games anymore (though I do have some copies I bought more recently).

I do still have my original FireRed, a copy of Emerald that I'm pretty sure is a fake, and at least one version of all the DS/3DS games. Fun fact, I have a team I took from Emerald and beat the League with in every region, trading them up every new generation. Unfortunately, Rush the Manectric had to sit out for Scarlet/Violet, but at least I could bring him up to Home.

I still have all of mine, save for Sword and Shield, and Rescue Team DX, which I lost along with my Switch before I had the chance to play either. (And also a Breath of the Wild cartridge, which I had actually played up to the first Divine Beast.) I was thankfully able to backup Sword and Shield for emulation beforehand, but sadly, I did not have the chance to do so with Rescue Team DX (or BotW). I also technically do not have my original Sapphire cartridge, but I have a replacement Sapphire cartridge that I got a few years later.

My batteries for my Hoenn games are drained and no longer register time-based events, and my copy of Gold can't save at all because of a dead battery, but everything else works well as of its last use.

I still have Diamond, SoulSilver, Black and Moon; all of which are playable as the last time I popped them in. I traded in White 2 back in 2020 and sold FireRed and Sapphire on eBay a few months ago (which I now regret but oh well, the Gen 3 games were only bought a year or so before I sold them at least). They're all stored in a DS case/bag in my closet.

    Yep!
    I found them all recently.
Blue, Yellow, Crystal, Fire Red, Pearl, Heart Gold, White (I'm sure this was my brother's though and I thought it was lost to time but I guess I have it), Then I also have all the 3ds era games in physical form too. So the only mainline game I'm missing is a black or white 2. Maybe I should look online and see if I can pick one up second hand somewhere!

I still have my childhood copies of Sapphire, Emerald and LeafGreen lmao. All of them are stored in the GBA cart slot of my 4th gen boxes. That way both gens are stored in the same place.
All three still work, even caught some pokemon for my living dex a couple of years ago.
I do have a Ruby cart, but unfortunately it ended up being fake. I'd still love to buy legit Ruby and FireRed carts someday

The only retro game I still have is Leaf Green (also Pearl and platinum from 4th gen, so it's not like I throw away everything lol.) It still works and still has my save data (thank God they switched from batteries to flash memory for the GBA carts.)

Awhile back my brother dug up our old copies of Blue and Silver, but he reports that the save battery is dead on those.

I still have my copy of Pokémon Pearl from my birthday in 2007, though I haven't played it in years since I have Platinum to play through instead for Sinnoh games.

I am still actively playing Pokémon Ruby, though this is on a cartridge I bought a few years ago as my original cartridge has been missing for about 15 years. Don't think I'm ever going to find out what happened to it.
