So, out of all the Champions that were introduced into the series up to this point, who was your favorite? (Note, Red will be on this list because he never technically lost his title, he only gave it up to Lance for the opportunity to train on Mount Silver for three years.

I voted for Steven and Cynthia. Steven because he's a master of an otherwise underrated type, the Steel type. His personality and appearance exemplified cool, calm, collected and skilled in battle. A calculating and fearsome opponent, something both him and my other vote, Cynthia, share. I voted Cynthia because she was the first champion I ever battled, and she was also cool and calm, while also stylish and ,dare I say it, beautiful. They both had some monstrous teams, like Steven having both Metagross and Aggron, while Cynthia had her crazy strong Garchomp.

Red, Steven and Cynthia. Red and Cynthia provided a challenge - they were extremely hard to beat. Steven was unique and made him stand out from the other champions without being grand and all, he's just simple but he has a different personality, which I like.

This adorable and epic duo right here. <3

Red is simply the most epic and awesome trainer you will ever fight. He says nothing, he simply lifts his hat to you, he has a level 88 Pikachu and a level 80+ team, and then he just vanishes into thin air after defeat. How mysterious can you be?

Then Iris is seriously the most adorable thing ever in the games. Even her sprite is super tiny and cute in the overworld.
And who doesn't like ladies being commanders of giant destructive creatures like dragons? It's hard to be more awesome than that.

I voted Steven because he has such a cool demeanor. He helps you out when you have to face the Legendary Pokemon, he gives you a Hoenn starter in Johto, and even helps you get a Latios/Latias in Johto.

Plus, his team is awesome. Skarmory, Metagross, Cradily, Aggron, etc. I love those guys!
And his theme song is purely epic.

I'm very fond of Stephen due to his involvement within the games. He usually shows up to help you out in some way, along with you actually helping him out, and he seems like a really approachable person. The fact that he uses such an under-represented type amongst champions is also welcome.

I love Red a lot but my favorite is probably a tie between Steven and Cynthia. It's partly to do with the fact I like a lot of their Pokemon and also because I think the roles they played in the games they appeared in were the most interesting to me. Steven especially so in Emerald! And I never played Platinum but I really liked Cynthia in DP.

Although I am not typically a fan of D / P / Pt, I loved the Champion in those games. Unlike most other Champions, Cynthia was very involved in the story from the beginning and actually helped the player to defeat Team Galactic, which I thought was a nice change of pace. She was also pretty challenging in the battle with her (that Garchomp). I voted for Cynthia.

I have five faves--Green, Red, Cynthia, Iris, and Diantha. Yay for indecisiveness!

Green has given me the most difficulty as a Champion (too bad that hasn't been the case with him as a Gym Leader). Additionally, the music that plays when you challenge him is epic and among my fave VS Champion tracks. Oh, and I love his rise from rival to Champion; given that he's always been ahead of you but has never won (except maybe in the first ever battle), it's extremely satisfying when you beat him!

Like Green, Red is also rather challenging. However, this is mostly due to the fact that it's hard to grind in GSC/HGSS, so my Pokemon have often been rather underleveled. Once they get to high enough levels, though, he's much easier to defeat. I also like how he's the "final boss" in GSC/HGSS.

Cynthia, as like the previous two, is pretty challenging, especially with her flawless IV Pokemon. Even in more recent years I've had some trouble taking her on. The music that plays when battling her is also among my faves, and her design is one of the best out of the Champions, in my opinion. Plus, as far as plot involvement goes, she gets involved in the plot compared to other Champions, who may only show up at plot-specific points a few times or don't show at all.

Iris I like mostly for her design and Champion music, but I also like that she went from Gym Leader to Champion. I'd like her more if she were more involved in BW2, but sadly, that wasn't the case :<

Diantha I pretty much like for her Champion music; it's my fave out of them all. She's also slightly challenging if you don't use the Exp. Share or Amie to boost your team's levels, but she isn't Green, Red, or Cynthia tier.

One of my most favorites would be Wallace. I love his outfit, and in general, his design is simply fabulous. While battling, he also gives you quite a tough challenge; to defeat his Milotic, I had to use about six Full Restores in total, and plenty of Revives. If it weren't for these items, then it would've taken me a lot longer to take it down. Aside from that, he's also a former Gym Leader, which raises his value even more. Not only that, he was the leader of Sootopolis, which is one of Hoenn's most important places historically.

Another is Lance; he plays quite a major role in Gold, Silver, and Crystal, helping you chase Team Rocket away. He's also a dragon master, and is equally as hard to defeat as above. Steven Stone is my favorite as well; all in all, he's a pretty cool guy, and his team is very solid. Last, but not least, would be Cynthia.

Steven's my favorite champion by far, and it's not just because he's in my favorite Pokemon region/game. His demeanor, skill, and intelligence all create this otherwordly persona that makes me look up to him, even if he's a virtual, fictional character. Not easy to craft a person like that, but Steven pulls it off wonderfully. Defeating him was one of the most satisfying feelings, because I truly felt I had been challenged and succeeded against the best trainer in Hoenn. Not to mention his gorgeous hair and outfit, I mean who wouldn't like him? :]

Notable mention for Cynthia, who had a similar aurora about her, and honestly improved Sinnoh as a whole. Didn't like the fourth generation, but she was the bright spot in an otherwise murky area for me. d:

Steven of course. Love his design, love his Pokemon type, love the way he is in the games. I just wish they made his team more steel like as the Champion. Only three steel types on a Champion team doesn't read to me as a steel type Pokemon trainer.

Cynthia comes second for me and I agree with this a lot. The fourth gen was rocky for me, but I think Cynthia was a great Champion and made it a little better. She's a likable and interesting character and her design was really cool and different than we've seem from other major characters.

I also want to add that Diantha could of been so cool if just incorporated more so we could actually get to know her in the game...

worst champions imo: alder, iris, and wallace

    Wallace, forever alone...

I liked Iris. Iris had a good amount of screen time in B/W, then in BW2, she didn't appear in any sequences with Plasma freezing over everything. So although you barely saw her, her presence caught me off guard. Plus she's a better dragon master than Lance(yes I said it, shoot me!) She wasn't overly hard, and is actually somewhat diffucult in Challege Mode. Plus her music is kickass.

First is probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually really like Iris. I did already discuss her in my recent blog, but while she doesn't do much at all throughout the story, I mostly liked her for two things: one, her battle setup with the full body art in the VS animation, that epic rainbow beamed battle scene, and let's not forget that battle music that I NEVER get tired of hearing. Two, the fact that she uses many of my favorite Pokémon, including my favorite of all time. While she's not overly hard, i've still always found battling her to be very fun, especially on Challenge Mode with her 100-120 power STAB moves *cough Outrage Haxorus cough*. I remember the first time I battled her in the rematch, that Salamence caught me off-guard big time. All that aside, as I mentioned I also found her a pretty creative choice as Champion, and likely not someone that a natural player would probably expect. So yeah, those are things I enjoy battling her for.

For that matter, I do like Alder, as well, mostly for the fact that he actually steps up to try to fight the main villain. Not only that, but he has a story to him in the sense that his Pokémon died.

Last, but probably not least, is Cynthia. Her personality throughout the story was cool, although as I mentioned in the 4th gen forum I don't like how she does nothing against Team Galactic. But then we get to battling her at the league, where we all know her for that Garchomp, as well as Spiritomb and her other vicious threats. She almost always makes for a fun battle given the strategy you usually need to come up with against her. And I like how she returns in the Unova games and you got to battle her there.

So personally, as far as battling goes i'd go with Iris, but overall i'd say Cynthia.

Yeah, I loved her rainbow battle scene, it reminded me a lot of rainbow road in Mario Kart, haha.

My favorite Champion is Cynthia. Not only is she pretty, but she also poses a decent challenge if you're looking for one. Red comes in close for having the highest-level NPC team ever in Pokemon.

I honestly wish they did more with Diantha in X/Y; she only appeared twice in Kalos pre-Elite 4. I mean, she could've helped intervene in Lysandre's evil plans before the League at least.

You really can't go wrong with Steven and Cynthia.

Cynthia was incredibly tough and the only champion I had immense difficulty with - she was perfect for our first female champion. Gorgeous design and poses a threat. I have issues battling her each time I replay through D/P/Pt regardless of what Pokemon I bring with me so I'm always forced to train up a bit.

And her music. Gah, her music! Shivers up my spine.

Steven is my favorites of the males. I had a crush on him as a kid (haha) but outside that I really adored that we finally had a steel-type champion and his battle music was one of the better songs in R/S/E. Really excited to see him again in OR/AS. :')

    Blue and Cynthia for me.

I always liked the idea of your rival being the Champion. And so far, Blue is the only character that fits this criteria. He's not that hard, but I admired the he was given a balanced team in typing. Aside from Red, Blue is the only Champion that has a Grass-Fire-Water type core with three other types. (yes I know Gyarados and Exeggutor share typing with Alakazam and Pidgeot, whatever.) He has some kickass music too.

Cynthia is easily one of the best Champion. She's not some random trainer that you only meet once, coughdianthacough instead she has somewhat integral part in the plot of the games she was introduced in, only to be expanded in Platinum. I was never fond of Champions that only focus on one typing, so Cynthia was definitely a breath of fresh air because of Lance, Wallace, and Steven. Also, I'm not gonna lie, she gave me some trouble during my first playthrough of D/P. The music before you fight her is FANTASTIC by the way.
