Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2014 - Fire

Welcome to the second annual Favorite Pokémon Tournament here in the Pokémon Polls board, where our goal is to determine the favorite Pokémon of the users here at the PokéCommunity! This will be a tournament that lasts several months, where we'll pit almost all the Pokémon from different types together to determine a winner. After we know the winner of each type, we'll add all of those Pokémon to a final poll, where the winner(s) will be crowned champion, and be known as PokéCommunity's favorite Pokémon!

Spoiler:

• Every week, two new polls will be stickied at the top of the Pokémon Polls board. Each thread will include a different elemental type, and the list of Pokémon to vote from.
• You aren't required to pick just one Pokémon- you can vote for as many as you like to ensure your favorites get through. The Pokémon with the most votes at the end of the week will face off against the other winning Pokémon in a final poll to crown the champion!
• In order to preserve space, we've grouped all of the applicable evolutions in a Pokémon family together. Some Pokémon (ex.: the Nidoran families) may be exempt from this rule.
• For every poll, at least one runner-up will be added to a wildcard poll before the finale. This will give these Pokémon a shot at redemption, and one more opportunity to win the tournament.
• In the event of a tie at the end of the week, Brendino will have the tie-breaking vote. Pokémon tied for first that aren't selected will be immediately entered into one of the wildcard polls.
  
• Furthermore, members who vote and post for a majority of weeks during the tournament will receive an emblem depicting the winning Pokémon!
• If there are any questions that you need answered, feel free to leave a comment in this thread or send a VM to Brendino to get it sorted out.

NOTE: Because of the number of Fire-type Pokémon and the limited number of poll spaces, not all eligible Pokémon could be included. If you want to vote for an unlisted Fire-type, check the "Other Pokémon" option represented by a (?), and leave a post with your vote.

Gutted that I actually managed to miss Vulpix ;( yay fire types.

You can't do this to me Brendino! Why must you make me pick! But alright, may the best fire types win!

Obviously first vote goes to Charmandar for being so cute and Charizard for having a cool mega form! Plus Charizard is my favorite pokemon of all time! ;)

Second is to Reshiram because I am a person who believes that the truth shall set us free. Plus, I totally love his amazing signature move, Blue Flare. So pretty yet so deadly... Reshiram also happens to be my favorite legendary pokemon of all time! The best part is his design!

Third is to Torchic, my favorite cute pokemon of all time! I just love that little chick since Hoenn, and when I got Blaziken, Blaze Kick was so the move to use! I was mesmerized by his speed and attack, but even more by his mega form. Not even an Infernape can keep up!

The third is to the Litwick stage because they are the best ghost types in existence! I just love the little candle! And don't even get me started with Chandelure. He was already awesome in BW/B2W2, but Pokemon Conquest blew my mind. Chandelure was simply amazing with his wicked Fire Spin!

Fourth goes to Flareon for being my favorite eeveelution! Eevee was already cute when they introduced him in Kanto but that Fire Stone changed my life forever! Flareon is bad ass! I just love how he looks, plus fire will burn forever!

Lastly I voted for Volcarona and Talonflame for being the 100% killers of grass types! Fiery Dance was such a fit for Volcarona! Talonflame in the other hand had a good attack and I just loved both of their designs!

Vulpix / Ninetails for me. My personal favourite Pokemon out of any type

I voted for Charizard, Blaziken, Heatran, Volcarona, Reshiram, and Talonflame. Blaziken are Charizard are among my favorite starters and are great for battle in the 6th Gen. Heatran for reasons I stated in the Steel type poll. Volcarona has a unique typing and is also my favorite Bug type. And yes, I do like Reshiram (Zekrom is better though). And Talonflame.....you love it, you hate it, and it it's needed for my little Rotation battles combo.

Quilava (and it's evo line). My PC theme is Quilava's Glacination and my skype name atm is Roaming Quilva (intentional), so yea. Plus i grew up with Johto games.

Awwwwww yiss, Pokemon Polls!

Anyway, I voted for quite a bit of Fire-type Pokemon because I just love 'em. These include: Charmander, Vulpix, Arcanine, Ponyta, Flareon, Victini, Reshiram, Chandelure, Cyndaquil's line, Darmanitan and Volcarona.

No reason in particular; I was more voting for design over everything else. I do like Volcarona's typing though, and all these guys have made great teammates for me!

Its all about Growlithe. I love puppys and pokemon so what's better than a FLAME THROWING PUPPY. If that doesn't yell Merica!, I dont know what else does.

My favourite fire type Pokémon are Houndour and Chandelure, so I cast my votes for them.

Houndour was one of my favourite Pokémon for a very long time, which was weird because I've never liked dogs. Houndour is just so cute, though! And it's kinda doom and gloom appearance was rather appealing to me when I was nearing my teens because it seemed cool and edgy, LOL. I've never liked Houndoom much, though, so I always hated evolving any Houndour I trained and that took a lot of the fun out of using them in game. :(

Back when I played Gen V for the first time, I was trying not to see any spoilers for the Pokémon in it as I'd imported and I really wanted to play it with a TOTALLY blank slate... but I saw Chandelure in someone's signature here (along with Vanilluxe, one of my other favourites), and knew I had to break my protocol to make sure I kept the fire slot on my team open for it, and looked up where it would be. NO REGRETS because my Chandelure was a boss. I also really like Litwick because it's super cute, but I love the elegance of Chandelure a bit more and Litwick kind of gets a vote anyway from being in the same line, so it's fine.

My only regret is that Houndour merch is SO expensive. I have its Pokedoll because I lucked out and found it in Epcot when I visited one year (I wish I'd bought all of them because for a while they were selling for $60 without tags lmao), but everything else? sob. One of my grails is still its 1/40 zukan figure but there's no way I could afford that. Similarly, I loved SO many Gen V Pokemon that I pretty much had to give up collecting altogether because I absolutely could not afford to keep collections of all my favourites. So alas, I have literally no merch of the Chandelure line. In recent years, collecting was what made me feel really connected to my favourites so not having much of anything to look at from these two makes them not very high on my list of favourite Pokémon priorities.

I went for the Rapidash, Typhlosion and Delphox lines, but I would have been limited to one it would have been Delphox.

Fire-types are one of my favorite types to use.. I had so much trouble picking! Well, it got difficult after the first two. {XD}

Quilava was my first pick. If I were restricted to one choice, it would be him. He's one of my all-time favorites, he's just so cute.
Flareon would be my second choice. I love the eevee lines, and I love fire types, but I've just never really liked Flareon's design enough to put him first. Quilava definitely trumps him.

From there, I just picked more of the cute ones.. without clicking on all of them. Vulpix, Ponyta, Houndour, Fennekin.. <3

I was really torn on the Magmar line, just because Magmortar looks wicked. But I dislike Magby and Magmar, so I ultimately decided against it.

Fire types are my personal favorite. :D

Magmar was my favorite Pokemon back when RBY was the only gen. I would constantly put off fighting Erika until I got to Cinnibar, so I could go get a Magmar in Pokemon Mansion and pummel her with it.

Houndoom is my favorite one ever, so yeah.

Chandelure: Ghost is my second-favorite type. Plus, 145 special attack. Your argument is invalid.

Darmanitan is what Arcanine and Rapidash wish they were.

Volcarona because I love fire types, and therefore I'm obligated to love Volcarona. Level 59 evolution is ridiculous though.

So, I feel awful. There are too many favorites to choose from, and I don't want to vote for all of them, so I picked my top 5. No particular order.

Rapidash -

Beautiful and simple design. Regal white horse with a fiery mane and tail. The design is even more beautiful since gen 5, with animated sprites/models. Somehow I feel like this pokemon is so underrated and ignored, but I have no idea why!

Arcanine -

What is he? A Fluffy dog/tiger/shisa? Who cares. First off, fluffy pokemon are the best, since they're cute. Though this design is also formidable and is contrasted by his black and orange stripes. Words can't express the nostalgic love for this Pokemon either!

Pyroar -

No, he didn't end up being a manticore, but hey, look at his mane!! There is a japanese character for fire highlighted in yellow against the red mane. I also love the dark accents on his face and how the contrast against his blue eyes.

Volcarona-

Another fluffy pokemon! I love bug types and fire types, therefore there is no reason not to love Volcarona with red/orange sun patterned wings and blue eyes contrasting against the black body with white fluff. Too gorgeous not to vote for.

Vulpix

Easily the cutest fire pokemon and cutest gen 1 pokemon. (Perhaps the cutest pokemon across all gens, though swirlix and skitty are tough competition.) Also, Ninetales is elegant and poised, always though she should have received a fire/psychic typing.



Honorable Mentions: DELPHOX!!!, Houndoom, Blazekin, Infernape, Camerupt

 

[Hikamaru]

So, here's why my ideal fiery faves are:

Chimchar line - My fave Fire starter line ever, because it's a monkey and my Chinese Zodiac sign is the monkey (ironically the year I was born is in the water element) and Infernape is fast and a hard-hitter.

Fletchinder/Talonflame - I loved how Kalos' resident bird deviated from its Normal-type unlike the others. Talonflame even had flame markings on it which was really awesome, and pretty much places it with Staraptor as my fave early region bird.

Fennekin line - I do love foxes, and it's cool how this one had a mage theme to it (the Kalos starters are all based on RPG classes) plus Delphox is the only Fire/Psychic that isn't a Legendary or alternate form.

Vulpix line - Again, voted this one because I love foxes. And it's very beautiful.

Litwick line - My fave 5th Gen Fire-types and my fave Fire-types of all, because I love Chandelure a lot. It's a really strong special attacker, plus I love the unique Ghost/Fire-type.

Pansear line - See Chimchar's line above, and you'll know that I love monkeys. I'm pretty much one of those few who actually liked Unova's elemental monkeys in general.

Litleo line - Fiery lions? Pretty awesome to me. Again, another unique type combination as far as Fire-types go, plus I love the long hair the female Pyroar have. I also loved how they used real life lions as a reference to its gender ratio (female lions appear more in a pride than males).

Victini - I adore those cute 600 BST legendaries, and yeah Victini was no exception.

Reshiram - One third of Unova's Tao dragons, which is one of my fave Legendary trios.

too many good choices.. as a Fire trainer, I pick them all.. but for this poll I picked the only choice for winning: the Charmander - Charizard line.

I voted for the Charmander-Charmeleon-Charizard line and the Torchic-Combusken-Blaziken line, as well as my favourite Fire-type Pokémon, Houndoom.

I use Houndoom in my main team in the video games. I love its two different types, which give me a variety of good options when facing other trainers.

I went for Victini ('cause he be fabulous), the Charizard line, Reshiram, Volcarona ('cause she also be fabulous), and a couple others.

Charizard and Blaziken all the way, they are two of my all time favorite Pokémon.

My votes goes to the Charizard, Ninetales, Arcanine, Rapidash, Flareon, Moltres, Torchic, Victini, Chandelure, Volcarona, Reshiram and Fennekin-Braixen.

Reasons...

Charizard - It's a badass fiery dragon, I honestly can't expect more.
Ninetales - Big deal, I'm a fan of Kyuubi.
Arcanine - It's a majestic fiery dog.
Rapidash - Another majestic fire-type, being a horse this time.
Flareon - I've always found Flareon really cute.
Moltres - It's a beautiful Phoenix. Sure there's Ho-Oh, but I'm more of a fan of the Western version than the Chinese version.
Torchic - It's just so cute~
Victini - It's a rabbit apple!
Chandelure - Finally something I like not because of its design. I've used Chandelure once in my playthroughs and honestly, it's a really great Pokemon and I ended up using it a lot.
Volcarona - Again, something for it's great power and Quiver Dance strategy. It's amongst my favorite bug types.
Reshiram - This is my favorite legendary Pokemon, as it is very majestic and strong as well. Also, I love its cry. Also, it's the first Fire/Dragon type to exist.
Fennekin-Braixen - Fennekin is just so cute! While Braixen is simple yet cute and majestic at the same time. Delphox... eh.
