Ahem, I suppose I should probably say something of substance, hm?
I do have one question on me presently, given the forum format of this all. Is the world in question supposed to be fully described in the first post (possibly with the poster coming back and editing regularly) or is it to be done in a series of posts? If the latter, is there something to be done about organization and navigating the thread?

WELCOME

There aren't really any rules on how you need to structure your world thread - whatever you feel more comfortable doing is fine! Some of us keep everything in the OP, some like to post each section or topic in a new post. You can take a look at some of the other threads to see all the different formats people are working with - there's no 'wrong' way to present your world.

And remember, this is a brand new forum (about a week old?) so if you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to leave them here and we can all talk about them.

Happy building!

Thankee kindly, Ms. Juno, I think I've many hours of lifespan to vomit into this space once I get going. I'll start with something small for now.

Here's hoping we can drum up enough interest for this forum to see some good traffic, ah?

Ah A fellow worldbuilder! Welcome here.
If you decide to post something new everytime you make an update, I reccomend you make the first post a table of contents.

Event suggestion! This isn't an immediate thing I want to see but more of something I want to look forward to like say after a month of acceptable activity levels. Basically worldbuilding AMAs! Whereby people shoot questions at the creator regarding their world(s). Obligatory stuff like "What inspired this world?" to more thought provoking hardhitters like "What If X happened, how would people in your world react?" etc.

I expect the AMA to last for about a week. Maybe people could get nominated into a queue as to who gets spotlighted. They should of course be active consistently, or at least for that week, because why put attention on someone who'd waste.

I think that's a splendid idea, for as much as my opinion counts!
It'd be a great way to drum activity, but the issue is getting us founded permanently to begin with ... Alas, however are we to draw people over here? I don't suppose any of you are GMs, are you? You could try to ground an RP in a world you describe here to make people visit As much like cheap promotion that seems, it may end up being necessary.
I honestly found this place on accident.

thoughts on a "list of" resource thread: IE: Types of flora and examples of what places they like.

I think I'd rather try and promote discussion inside threads that have dedicated AMAs. Perhaps there are other things we can do to promote more interest though. Travel brochures on Daily?

I like both of these ideas!

If we do make resources thread(s) it should probably get a tag and maybe a sticky.

Travel brochures on Daily?
That was actually an event idea I was thinking about, too! Something like "create a travel brochure/itinerary for your world or a part of your world". If we want to extend it to Daily, we could definitely feature the entries there so MV can gain more exposure.

A compiled resources thread would be great too, not just for info but worldbuilding tools as well (eg. the map brush pack I shared in 30 Days).

And while we're putting out ideas, I was also thinking of doing a weekly prompt kind of thing after 30 Days ends - would this interest you guys? It would be similar to (and I got the idea from) the weekly challenges over in r/worldbuilding. It would be a less sequential kind of thing, as I think what deters some people from participating in 30 Days is people don't really want to jump in in the middle or anything, feel discouraged of they feel they're falling behind - weekly challenges would solve some of these issues as you'd only have to participate if you like the prompt and there's more time to think on the topic if there's only one introduced every week.

I think that if the multiverse keeps this activity up and remains permanently then we should retool 30 days as a guide because it's very useful in that capacity. Could you elaborate a bit on the prompts thing?

Definitely, though I think I'd probably rewrite some of the 30 Days stuff as I lifted these directly from the blog, and if it's going to be a permanent fixture on MV it should be original.

Weekly challenges would be kind of similar to 30 Days - every week a new topic will go up and people can participate however they like (ie. they can just write about it directly the thread or link us to a full entry the topic). I'll try to hit topics that people may not have explored yet, but even if you have you can just recap/link.

Examples of topics:
- holidays in your world
- marriage and divorce
- standards of beauty

Just fun things to think about, hopefully. For participating, I was also thinking of doing a points system, and at x number of points you gain a new rank and emblem.

I know the objective is to just build your world, but small incentives and prizes don't hurt. :P

I agree, prizes breed productivity and (as long as its not just a participation prize), quality too.

Prizes? E-EMBLEMS? WOO!

I was wondering if there was a list of the current planets and who created them? Maybe just a link to each post or something?

We don't currently have anything like that, but maybe we could create a directory of sorts somewhere down the line? I'm not sure how necessary this is at the moment seeing as the forum itself does include all the names of the worlds and the people who created them - we'll see if anyone else wants to weigh in on this.

And welcome to the Multiverse!
