    [PokeCommunity.com] Fighting Games

Fighting games! Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, DragonBall FighterZ, Guilty Gear, even Super Smash Bros! Do you play any, and if so, which ones? What characters do you like to play? Are you any good at them? Do you play casually or competitively? Share any experiences and opinions on this competitive genre!

I am not good at fighting games and Super Smash Bros is the only fighting game I play. Whenever I play Super Smash Bros I like to play as Jigglypuff.

I remember playing Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter as a kid all the time. I've also got Super Smash on my Switch. But if I had to pick a fighter for life it would be Raidon!

I used to play Tekken 2 and 3 and Soul Blade on PS1. Actually, Tekken 2 + Soul Blade double pack were one of my first PS1 games, alongside Spyro 3.

I also played first Super Smash Bros. and have one Street Fighter game on Game Boy Advance, but I played both of them a long time ago. I didn't play any fighting game lately. I'm not a fan of playing this type of games online.

I've played a fair amount of older Tekken titles over the years but stopped after Tekken 6 because... ngl the Azazel fight was kind of bullshit and I have no desire to see what the next level of power creep brings. I don't play many fighters like this anymore, just the occasional run through of Xenoverse 2 or the odd Smash game. I did buy the most recent Soul Calibur at the end of last year though and will probably give it a try eventually too.

I have an appreciation for fighting games, I've spent many hours watching pros play smash bros and tekken, but it just isn't something that I'm good at.
I've spent countless hours playing smash bros, but my brain just can't seem to develop past the button mashing I've been doing since I was a child. Because of that my go-tos that I normally play in these kinds of games are the simple brawler characters like Mac and Captain Falcon in smash. I pray that one day I can graduate to playing the cooler combo-centric characters that I enjoy watching

Hate this genre, probably always will. Primarily because they're very PvP focused, which has never been my thing...and yeah, I'm awful at them and improving doesn't feel like a good use of my time.

That said, I do like Blazblue, for its heavier narrative focus and fantastic soundtrack. It's a series that I'd probably get into if they ever released a collection for consoles...with very simplified gameplay. Because I really am awful at fighting games.

I also had a Smash Bros. phase with the original and Melee especially but Brawl killed that by being bloody awful. The single player mode in Ultimate was an ok distraction for a while but I sold it about a month after release and I don't regret it, especially since no single player content has come with the new fighters they've added since.

I've played a few fighters in my life, I like to fight. Smash is the one I've put the most time into. There was a time I had interest in competing, but that's over now, possibly forever.

In games, most PvE content can reasonably be expected to be beaten by most people, even the "hard" stuff like Dark Souls or whatever. You can't expect that with PvP though. It's inherently not designed for everyone to be successful at (that's just the nature of competition really), and a skilled/smart human opponent is well above what the AI can do for the most part. And really, people are not cut out to be good at everything. It's not like an RPG where you can get strong enough by mindlessly grinding enough. Even if you do put in the investment and not mindlessly, there's no guarantee it'll ever work out.

I still like to maintain enough skill to consistently beat the highest level CPUs, but that's it really.

    omg austin ur so cool

I have been playing fighting games since a very young age and have competed for about... 8 or so years! I would probably put a top 5 as:

    1. Street Fighter Alpha 3
    2. Capcom vs. SNK 2
    3. Rival Schools
    4. Super Street Fighter 4
    5. Tekken 7

Since you're a fan of Rival Schools, what do you think about Akira coming to Street Fighter V later this year? I think it's really cool how they're acknowledging Rival Schools, since I was sure it was an abandoned series.

Here's hoping they remember Darkstalkers! pls capcom give us more darkstalkers
