3rd Gen For Starters... [December 2015]

Welcome to Advance Generation's new featured thread- the Poll of the Month! Seeing as this board's a bit slower than most on PokéCommunity, we'll be doing monthly polls rather than weekly ones, but the premise will be the same- pick one of the options from the poll above, and feel free to post about your choices. Also going forward, if any of you have a question that you would like to see featured as the PotM, feel free to send me a VM with your idea(s), or leave it with your post in this thread. If your topic gets picked, you may even be awarded with a special emblem!

Now with all that said, this week's poll question is:

"Do you prefer the starter Pokémon of Kanto, or Hoenn?"

There are a number of Pokémon fans that still swear by the originals, but the starters introduced in Hoenn always seem to be quite popular as well. It should be interesting to see your guys' opinions, and how the poll turns out. Happy voting!

I voted Hoenn because it was my first region, and I like the designs much better than Kanto's. Kanto is all-reptilian while Hoenn is more diverse.

I choose the Hoenn starter Pokémon. Mudkip is my favorite starter Pokémon and also Hoenn is my favorite region.

Really hard choice, but I'll pick Kanto for it since I started with it.

I voted for the Kanto trio because I like all of their designs more. I might like the basic stages for the Hoenn starters, but I'm not a fan of the rest of the evolution stages like I am with the Kanto trio.

I had to go with Kanto. Those starters just have more room in my heart.

I do like the Hoenn starters though. It was a harder decision than I was prepared for.

I feel that the starters have gotten worse each region. So while I think the Hoenn starters are o.k. (and I like their final evolutions) it's definitely the Kanto starters for me.

I love both of these trios so this is very hard for me. If I'm only looking at first stages, Kanto easily wins, but looking all the way through the final stages and megas, Hoenn comes out on top just barely as i really prefer Hoenn's final evolutions and their megas compared to the Kanto trio. There will always be a special place in my heart for those first starters though! ♥

I'd have to go with Hoenn because I have used them a little more seeing as I have only really used the Kanto starters while playing X

For me this is hardly a question, Kanto being the definite option. I've always preferred their starters to every other Gen in the game and this is hugely down to the design of the Pokemon and their evolutions. The Kanto starters are so much cuter than the Hoenn starters, which I believe is an important feature for starters, whilst still looking fairly fierce. Hoenn's don't look all that special to me, weird-looking and not very cute. When we look down their evolution lines, I believe this trend still goes on.

Tough choice, but Hoenn starters it is, because they have more variation as the Kanto trio are all reptiles. It doesn't make a lot of difference though, both trios have great Pokémon.

I voted Kanto, mostly because I like all of the starters and their Evolutions where as with Hoen I really only like Treecko and it's evolutions.

Outside of the anime and merchandise, Hoenn starters win. I enjoyed having Mudkip and Torchic as my starters much more, except for Squirtle who I always wanted to use. Another thing about this generation I love, the starters themselves :D

I prefer the starter Pokémon in Orre.

Although I started playing Pokémon because of my love for Mudkip, I have to go with Kanto here. My email is even named after Bulbasaur.

Kanto all the way. I love the starters of Kanto because besides Pikachu they were really the first Pokemon that I had fallen in love with as a kid. Also, the starters for Kanto seem a lot tougher than the Hoenn starters!

I'm saying the Kanto trio, because in every other aspect they are better imo. But truthfully, in-game, I found that Blaziken and Swampert were much more useful and great than the Kanto starters, haha. Still voted for Kanto though ;)
