It is common in certain genres of Metal ^^ (Not the sweetest genres though lol)

Hmm..... I wanna say yes, but I can't think of an example....
Mainly thinking of optional bosses that end the game when beaten, but aren't part of the main story whatsoever.
And the only thing that comes to mind atm is Barony, which I don't think really fits.
