    Favourite Hoenn Gym Leader?

We have a thread for Kanto Gym Leaders so I thought it'd be good to have one for the Hoenn Leaders.

I would have to say that my favourite is Flannery. It's funny because my top 3 all time favourite Gym Leaders are all Hoenn leaders, but Flannery is my favourite. I love her design, she has a cute and badass look about her to me, and that's a really good combination for a Gym Leader I believe. Plus I like how her hair is as close to fire as it can be without looking not normal.

So, what about everyone else? What do you guys think?

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I guess my favorite is Winona because I love her design and she uses Altaria, one of the greatest Pokemon to grace the series.

I really like Tate and Liza. Their twin telepathy is extended to an abnormal high level of psychicness, which is why they are psychic Gym Leaders. I really like this idea. Additionally they use the new double battle style as Gym Leaders. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they're the only Gym Leaders using a double battle on their initial match.

I also like Flannery's character. Most Gym Leaders have the air of I'm very strong. You want to challenge me? Very well, I'll crush you!, but Flannery is totally insecure because she just became a Gym Leader. This makes her completely different of most of the other Gym Leaders.

I'm not particularly fond of Hoenn gym leaders, to be honest. I'm stuck between Winona and Liza & Tate (who don't really vary enough to consider separate entities) for favourite (being the only leaders I actually like).

I always liked Tate and Liza. It's something a bit different and although there were plenty of double battles in the game prior to them, they tended to be pretty easy, things like Plusle and Minun or from the villain team that tended to have a lot of dark types, so bringing a fighting type (like Breloom, Blaziken, etc.) made those very easy. Tate and Liza, especially in Emerald (damn Sitrus Berries), could be pretty tough if you weren't prepared for them, and I thought their inclusion really made the most of the double battle feature, which was new at the time. Not to mention they're adorable in their little uniforms. So to me, they're definitely the standout Gym Leaders in Hoenn, who are otherwise a pretty unremarkable bunch.

Flannery! She's adorable! Plus her speech was pretty funny and original. I love how she tries to be someone else by acting professional and all, but at the end she realises being herself is the best! <3

I think my favorite Hoenn Gym Leader would be Brawly. He had a really rad character to him, and he uses a type I like quite a bit. Second is probably Wattson, though.

Liza and Tate are definately my #2!
Really my number one is Flannery! She is kinda cute lol but shes got that flamin hot spirit that she needs to be a gym leader! Shes not really like the others that say how strong they are shes unsure of herself and just wants a good battle. ^_^

Winona is the coolest gym leader to grace Hoenn. Which I guess isn't.. an impressive title since I didn't think much of most Hoenn leaders to begin with but she is sooo pretty omg. I also liked Tate & Liza but no one can beat Winona's gorgeous design and good taste in Pokemon teams.

Juan people there is no other option here. That charm, that wit, that style. He is a ladies man and lover of the arts and therefore I adore him.

Oh, I like them all, to be honest. However, if I were to o with only one… it would likely have to be Wallace.

First and foremost is, not only does he play an important role in Emerald, he's also quite difficult to go up against. When I had first battled him in Ruby, it had taken me approximately three separate tries to get this person finally beaten. On top of this, they also seemed to have given Wallace a cool, laid-back personality, which I did like!

Second on my list is definitely Winona. Although she doesn't play much of a huge role in Ruby, Sapphire, nor Emerald, her characteristics are similar to Wallace, which I'm fond of. Alongside, she was also rather challenging. She might not have taken as much time to defeat in comparison to Wallace, but she was still slightly difficult, in a way. If I hadn't trained enough, I'm sure she would have been much more tough.

My fave Hoenn Gym Leader has to be Brawly. I'm not usually a fan of most Fighting-type specialists but I really love his surfer dude attitude in the anime, and well blue hair makes anything look cool imo.

Other ones that come close are Roxanne, Winona and Flannery (I love their designs), as well as Wallace since he uses my fave type and I kinda like how he peppers his dialogue with references to elegance.

My fav gym leader WAS Juan, 'cause now, with ORAS edition, I'm in love with Winona! Now is so elegant and thin... idk... now I think she's awesome, pretty good looking and a strong opponent... just like Juan in Emerald...
Plus I think is so simmilar with Wallace (him boyfriend in the manga)... I mean, both are gym leaders, contest opponents and, as i said, has both all the elegance and "elite high" than a gym leader I think must have (at least one of the eight per each region must have)... you know what i mean?

    Cheers!!

I love all the Hoenn leaders. For some reason, they are the most memorable for me.

Favorite? I think I would have to go with Winona. I love her design, gym, and team! She actually gave me a challenge with her darn Dragon Dancing Altaria.

Brawly since i found him to actually require a bit of strategy to cleanly beat him at the time and level he's faced. He tells the player to not completely rely on brute force to beat (aka have a moveset with all attack moves) since he knows how good his Bulked up Makuhita can do.

Norma in the rematches in Emerald. Him removing his slaking's truant ability via skillswap gave me some feelings of excitement in having to fight that beast and its TITANIC base ATK. Also, Normam's party for some reason give a lot of EXP when beaten so its great for those late-game level grinds.

Winona for being something like Hoenn's Whitney -> First few mons are easy to defeat, then proceeds to have a DD'ing EQ Altaria that can really wipe out an unprepared team. (Dat Altaria sweep). I do mention that this is me facing her without grinding into a massive level advantage against her. I'm kinda sad that her Altaria was nerfed in the remakes so no more of that epic DD-EQ sweeps that it can do.

The Twins in Emerald. Perhaps this would be my favorite gym battle because of the amount of strategy involved to keep up and eventually beat them cleanly. I love how their first team has a Claydol and Xatu that have a pretty good synergy together.
