I don't know ;; i just keep working and keep distracting myself from worries by talking to friends as often as I possibly can.

Stackin' papers, countin' my money, watchin' my debts slowly fade.

That and having too many hobbies and interests and a hell of a lot going on at my workplace that pretty much keeps me busy non-stop.

Also having a fairly high tolerance for stress helps. And I'm in a better place than I was 2 years ago, both financially and healthwise, as well as having 2 more years of working that I can show to any prospective employers.

Just gotta keep working (to show prospective employers that, yes, you can handle a job and keep it for a long time while also showing some ambition) and focusing on a goal. I've got major long term goals and minor goals.

Major:
have $10,000 put away in savings
pay off my student loans early
pay off my car a bit early
have my own apartment I can afford on my own
earn a major raise or two at work

Minor:
Pay off each of my credit cards and save $2000 by August.
Buy a new bed
Buy a new computer desk
buy a new office chair

I ask myself the same thing. Trying to adjust to a 9-10 hour job + going to school full time + putting the boyfriend up on the priorities list + bills + other adult stuff...life is just too hectic for me. haha.

I mean, I guess that's how things should go??? You just gotta hang in there, okay.

If you want something out of your life, yu should have a goal that you want to work towards to, so even if you have to endure bad times, you still have something that keeps you going.

That being said: I'm still looking for a goal, so it kinda explains why I'm in not a pretty situation.

I put a limit on stressful things. My personal rule is that after 9 on a weekday I can do whatever I want. It's my time. I also tell myself that on the weekend that after 12 noon I don't have to do any more work (like shopping for food or getting gas for the car or whatever). It works for me to set aside time that is mine for me to do things I enjoy so that I can enjoy them worry- and guilt-free.

Also, making sure I do at least one responsible thing and one fun thing each day helps me feel like I'm not loosing my mind to stress because I can feel like I'm still adulting properly but not leading a totally joyless life.

But being an adult is crap. Those people who were adults ten, twenty, thirty years ago had it a lot easier so if anyone from an older generation is making you feel bad then they can push off.

Being an adult is honestly the worst. The freedom of being a grown up barely outweighs the cons. Sometimes I wish I could just be a kid again! I daydream of the times where my parents took care of all the scary things, I never had to worry about the future, and my only worries were having my GBA taken away.

But really, I do have ways to cope with it. For example, acting silly and childish outside of work. Who says you have to be an adult 100% of the time?

I set myself action-based goals instead of results-based goals.

Example= Instead of focusing on "I need to lose 20lbs" you would focus on "I need to go to the gym 3 times a week."

Some goals include: Write down expenses and categorize my spending at the end of every month.
Plan something creative at least once every week or two.
Make sure to support my friends/ ask my friends how they are doing/ speak to someone I havent in a while at least once a week.
Gym 2-3 times a week.
Brush my teeth and wash my face in the evening (long term goal of adding habits to try and take better care of myself.)
Choose only healthy options when going grocery shopping, but dont completely deny myself of indulgences from time to time.
