I can fluently speak Bulgarian, and English. My German is kind of rusty, so scratch that. (same with French, honestly) I know the basics of French, German, Spanish, Russian, and Italian. I had to choose between German & Russian in 5th grade, so I chose German. But I did learn a little Russian, as well.
 
Speak or understand fluently? Just English.

I was only in public school up until 6th grade, so I never took anything beyond "basic" Spanish, French, and Japanese. Yes, all 3 were required by my school starting in Kindergarten. No, I don't know why.
So I know a few select words from each (Hello, goodbye, thank you, you're welcome, etc.) and colors and numbers and that's it.

I also know a little rough Polish - my entire family is Polish, and as it was my great-grandparents and my grandparents that came here from Poland, my family still spoke it regularly for quite awhile. A few of our dogs also only understood Polish commands. That was neat. But the words used there are also very basic - like, I don't have a grandmother, I have a babcia.
 
I can fluently speak English, and to a lesser degree of fluency, Malay (rusty because of years of lack of practice). I also know basic to intermediate Chinese (but don't speak it unless absolutely necessary), basic Japanese, a few phrases of Spanish (self-learning ftw!), aaaand that's about it.
 
Yeah....the only language I can speak/read/write fluently is English. Took 3 years of German in high school and 2 semesters of it in college, but I don't think I could really have a conversation with you in German. Nor can I read it very well. Know a few words of French and Japanese, but, you know, you pick up on a few words over the years.


I wish I could fluently speak another language; it'd be really cool and useful, but I sadly lack the ability to really learn another language. And I'm not sure when I'd be able to use it.
 
Mainly English but I can speak/understand Cantonese to some extent. Just picked up Japanese as well, it's a pretty cool language. Then there's also Spanish except most of it came from Dora the Explorer. D:

That's all that I can think of but I've also learnt Mandarin from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Never got much from it though. XD
 
Yo hablo Espanol muy mala. I speak Spanish very bad. I'm starting to learn Spanish and I'm fluent in English. That is it.
 
As for me, only language I could actually speak is English. I also know how to say a few Hindi words and phrases, thanks to some of my Indian classmates at high school. :] Could understand Spanish, but I always have a hard time when it comes to speaking. My parents are fluent in it, though.

I only speak english. I wan't to speak more languages, and I'm taking French next year in school. I can speak small bits of German, Spanish, and Russian. However, the only language I can speak fluently is English.
 
I only know English, like a few of the others that have posted. I've taken Spanish & German in my middle school years, but it's mainly because it was mandatory back then, so I didn't have a choice.

I've heard that colleges that teach other languages aim for you to be fluent in whatever language that they teach. For me, though, the incentive to learn other languages outside of my mother tongue just isn't there for me.
 
Cantonese is my mother-tongue, though the quality is conversational at best. English is probably the only language I can speak fluently, and even then sometimes what I say doesn't make sense XD Took Latin throughout high school; French was a mandatory course back then, and I took it during second year of university. Also had Japanese lessons back when I probably in elementary/middle school and Korean in first year of university :P Aside from that, I can understand Vietnamese to a certain extent and count in other languages in addition to the ones mentioned, but that's pretty much it DX
 
I can speak English, Japanese, French, and a little bit of German, Korean, Cantonese Chinese, Spanish, and Latin.

I want to finish learning those 'little bit of' languages, and also learn Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and Italian. Maybe Hawaiian, Icelandic, Hindi, and the Goidelic languages.

As you can see, I really like languages. X)
 
The pain! The horror! Terrible attempts at Spanish hurt me deeply :(

Ahem. In my entire life, I have only spent two weeks living somewhere where the official language isn't Spanish. The rest I've been in Spain and Argentina so yeah GUESS WHICH IS MY MOTHER TONGUE. I did start studying English at school since I was 5 and I actually put some effort so one day I went to the British Council in Madrid and walked away with a Cambridge Proficiency title.

Other than that, I studied French and Latin for two years each but I had too many nightmares and I'm not planning on trying ever again.
 
^ wow, I always respect people who give Latin a go. It's something that I don't think I'd ever be able to follow through with it because it doesn't have too much of a practical application and it seems like a nightmare to learn, so respect to you!

I'm good in Spanish in the classroom at least, though I don't think you can know how good you are until you go to, in my case, a Spanish-speaking country and test out your skills in the real world. Hopefully I get the chance to do that later this year!
 
You people with really bad spanish...y'all should come see me. ahorita mismo.

In other words, I am bilingual English/Spanish. English was my first language, then at 10 I learned Spanish.

I'd learn Latin, if not for it being offered only at the Christian school lol and they wouldn't let you in unless you and your parents were baptised and active church-goers.

I wanted to take Japanese as my electives in university, but with only six courses left over after the Honours Undergrad in Geography (French Immersion) and the 30CRs for the Advanced Minor in FSL, I had to dedicate three electives to more advanced French courses (since that's what I want to teach, I should take whatever I can for it) and the other three would only get me some beginner understanding of Japanese - not enough to use or retain.

I was sad :(

I want to try and get better at Spanish, though, before I lose it. I did well in school, and it was pretty similar to French.
 
French is my first language. I'm also fluent in English and a little wobbly in Russian, considering that my accent is pretty ♥♥♥♥. Recently, I've been trying to learn Icelandic :]
