I made a thread about this long ago but figured I'd see some new opinions.

When you play through a Pokemon game, do you have a mix of older Pokemon with the Pokemon of the region you're playing in? Do you make a team just using Pokemon of the region you're playing in?

Same with Otama. I limit myself to regional Pokemon because it helps in getting myself acquainted to the region. Post-game is when I branch out, because that way I have a better diversity of movesets when getting into online competitive.

Same same, just like Otamajakushi said, on the first playthrough I stick with Pokemon from the region. If I do a later playthrough, I normally make a team of my favorites, which generally span several different regional dexes.

I generally like using non-regional Pokes when first playing through a new generation since i have no clue what the new mons are like in battle.

I try to go with a regional team the first time so that I can test out some of the new Pokemon, but it really does depend on what is available on the routes...and the designs of the Pokemon in question. It was a huge relief to be able to use older generation Pokemon in Black 2, and in most of my second gen files I've had a Pidgey on my team instead of a Hoothoot simply because I find Pidgeot more useful than Noctowl.

I tend to use regional Pokémon, they provide enough diversity for me. Electric, Water, Fire, Grass, Flying and a favorite Pokémon from that region for example Gardevoir, Flygon, Salamence (aka Seth haha), Garchomp and so on.

I usually always go with a mixed team. Of course, I try to make sure that at least three are regional Pokemon because if you don't try out the new guys, what's the point! That said, I end up catching dozens of Pokemon and using most of them throughout the game so I end up using a lot of the regional Pokemon anyways.

typically a mix unless its the first play through of a new game. then i'll try to make my team all from that region

I honestly don't care about using the region's Pokemon, lol. My teams are always mixed. I prefer using my favorites, because I feel like that's the most enjoyable way to go through the main story anyway.
