Minecraft Haunted House Build!

HAUNTED HOUSE BUILD

Welcome, creepers and zombies, ghasts and slimes, to a PC Minecraft server gaming event! It's that special time of year when monsters and ghosts come out to play and scare little kids! In honor of Halloween, the Minecraft PC server will be hosting a Haunted House building contest! If you're feeling spooky and in the mood to cause some fright, then sign on up!​

THE DETAILS:

Sign up here in this thread, letting myself and El Heroe know that you plan to attend. Currently we have EIGHT build slots open, so if you're interested, don't wait because this event begins THIS FRIDAY, October 3!

You will not be required to bring your own materials - we will provide you with wood, cobble, cobwebs, and many other creepy things to spookify your haunted house with! All we do ask that you bring is...YOUR SKULLS! I've made a point in the server thread of telling people to BUY SKULLS at the Skull Emporium! You may ask why...well, for every skull bought, the grand prize of the competition increases. For every few skull bought (you needn't use the skull during the event, but many choices are available to help creep us, the judges, out), a diamond is added to the grand prize. If everyone gets their skulls soon, that prize could net you a whole lot more than is available on the server right now!

The event will run from October 3 - 5, Friday through Sunday. El Heroe and I will be judging your builds and ranking you all from the least creepy to the most creepy. The top three will earn prizes, but first place gets that grand prize! Winners will be announced Monday, October 6th!

TO SIGN UP:

Post your Minecraft username AND whether you want a mycelium plot or a podzol plot (there are four of each; first come, first serve).

Once our eight slots are filled, you may show up anytime over the weekend to build your Haunted House! Monday, the judges will take a look and see how you've all done. If you have any questions or comments, post them in here!

Next time you log on, view the Sample House to get an idea of height. BUT you're welcome to take your build in any direction you see fit though. If it needs to be taller, then make it so! :)

I don't know if this answers your question, but the event is running for 3 days total (Friday-Sunday) so we won't actually be doing the judging until that Monday. But I see what you're getting at; I'll talk to Klippy and we'll put specific time zones for when it will actually start to squander any confusion anyone might be having about this.

Anyone have thoughts on the big new community storage and lookout tower? And also, do we have access to vines? I'd really like to start farming them so that I can replace some of that cobble in the tower with mossy cobble and make it more interesting.

Podzol: noun. an infertile acidic soil having an ashlike subsurface layer (from which minerals have been leached) and a lower dark stratum, occurring typically under temperate coniferous woodland.

Hmmm, the limit on the world means more mobs can spawn because they don't overload the mob limit in other parts of the world. Interesting. At least I'm assuming that this is the case, I just read Anna's post from some days back about lots of Creepers and it reminds me of playing single player on Xbox. Anyway, where the hell do I build a house lol!

Take a gander at the map at spawn. You can see where there is empty land to claim. There's pleeeeenty of space though. ;) Everyone was supposed to be more conservative in their builds, but some people went overboard.

12AM Eastern. That's early for us on the West, but I don't want my East Coast pals having to wait! ;D

*ACTUALLY* Pumpkins are for sale at the Skull Emporium, BUT! Other members have already bought a lot and may have created a farm of them (thereby ruining the pumpkin economy), so if you can't afford to buy them: ask around. Someone will have them.
