Question of the Day

Most of the time in action RPGs, I'll take my chances at doing everything underleveled. But in a turn-based RPG like Pokemon, I grind as much as I need to, and then some :P

Here's one that I thought of because I realized the ungodly amount of time I spend on EV training @_@

Question of the Day

How much time do you spend on EV training?
Since the EV training mechanic has been a lot easier, I say it's less than 1 hour per train. But that depends if I'm focused or not! XD

How much time do you spend on EV training?

I never once tried it. Once I got a 3DS I would put this in mind in doing it.

How much time do you spend on EV training?

None, it's a colossal waste of time and completely unnecessary for the main story. I don't really have the patience for it, even with Super Training in the sixth gen making it much easier. I don't play competitively, and I've never had any problems finishing the game without it, so...why bother?

How much time do you spend on EV training?
I don't have the hearts to do proper EV training, I just spam vitamins if I need to..

How much time do you spend on EV training?
When I do EV train, it's usually for about 30 minutes or so; not longer than that. EV-training itself, though, is pretty rare for me.

It depends. It used to take me several days of intermittent gameplay (or a long afternoon) to EV train something, but now, it's a lot faster. If I'm doing it at the start of the game (e.g., with newly hatched eggs that I don't want to EV train by traditional methods), it probably takes an hour or two per Pokemon. If training in the wild, with items and such, it's faster than that. I haven't EV trained anything in a few months though; I have a backlog to get to, but I don't know when I'll get around to those.

When it comes to Generation VI, I tend to get it done quickly with horde battling and Sweet Scent, unless I can't because i'm doing a -Locke. But in my main White 2, i'll use the Power items and kill time sometimes. So yeah, varied amounts.

Combined with breeding, EV training accounts for about 8/10ths of the playtime I spend with the Gen 6 games. There's always a rewarding feel in successfully hatching a perfect IV'd Pokemon with the Egg moves you want, then training it to prepare for online. Ever since my first time breeding and training a full-out competitive Pokemon, I've always wanted to add more to my arsenal to create more options for team setups.

I EV train soooo much. At least I used to, now I'm focusing more in my games on doing things I don't traditionally do, like trying to complete the Pokedex.

So, here's an interesting semi-competitive related question, but one that I find myself asking all the time @_@

Question of the Day

Psyshock or Psychic?

Psyshock or Psychic?

Psychic because it has higher power.

Question of the Day

Psyshock or Psychic?

Psychic's pretty great, but Psyshock's always a nice surprise/last resort for a specially bulky mon.

I love Psyshock because of its unique trait, but I do like Psychic a bit more cause it's just so damn powerful :P

Psyshock or Psychic?

Psychic. I don't think I've ever actually used Psyshock before...

Psyshock or Psychic?
Well Psyshock would treat special attacks as were Physical means it would harm special defence wall and it have good attack power too. While Psychic is just your typical flash-cannon lowering sp def which hits really hard. I can't say which to choose.

Psyshock for me! My Espeon and Alakazam are gonna be stuck with Blissey if they don't have a move that can hit the pink Pokemon. XD

Psyshock or Psychic?

Both are great moves, but I still like Psychic's overall power and reliability more given it's the cream of the crop Psychic-type attack. Psyshock does have the cooler animation though.

Busy busy busy...

How much time do you spend on EV training?

Just about none honestly :P

Psyshock or Psychic?

Psychic, call me old-fashioned :P

Psyshock or Psychic?

I really like Psychic! Good ol TM-29. I used to pretty much use this move as often as I could back in the day. Today, it's still a treat to use and brings back a lot of fond memories playing as a kid. Good times!

Whaa no EV training??

I actually tend to go with Psyshock, in competitive situations. Really helps in Calm Mind wars, which tend to happen quite a bit. In regular gameplay though I normally go for Psychic, because it's ever so slightly stronger.

One thing about Psychic is, it was easily one of the best attacks in the game back in 1st gen and arguably 2nd gen too. So for those of us who were players during that time, using it is pretty satisfying, I have to admit ^^ (especially since they brought back the classic sound effect in 6th gen)
