As classes were in session, Rose learned a lot of stuff about the new status effects. Some attacks could force your pokemon to sleep, like Hypnosis or sleep powder. others can paralyze you like stunspore or shockwave. ofcourse, there is also the dangerous Poison effect, which poisons your pokemon. this could be achieved by poison sting or poison powder for example. and perhaps a very annoying effect would be confused, in which the pokemon could harm itself. these could be triggered by confuse ray for example. "It surely is amazing how the world of pokemon works" Rose thought to herself. ''Allright Class, now we've learned all about the effects, it is time to put your knowledge to the test. Form pairs, because we are going to battle eachother. And don't worry, we will heal your pokemon right after the battle.'' the Teacher said.
The pairs were quickly formed and they headed to the battle field. After a couple of matches, it was time for Rose and Flora to battle. ''Ok, once more the rules: You can pick only one pokemon to battle with. if your opponents pokemon is knocked out, you win. You are allowed to use items. We don't pay the other if we lose.'' the Teacher said. Rose nodded to the teacher then to her opponent. ''Let the battle begin!'' Teach called.

''Flora, Time to shine!'' Rose yelled. The boy on the opposite of the field called out his Zubat with the name of Zazu. ''Flora, use growth!'' Rose yelled. ''Zazu, do Astonish!'' the boy yelled. the attack was performed after Zazu flew a few circles and came behind Flora, hitting her in the back, causing some damage. ''Flora, are you ok?'' Rose asked. Flora let out a ''bu'' and turned around. ''Allright, do Absorb!'' rose commanded. Te attack was sucessfull, since Zubat was still closeby, giving some of the health back to Rose. the attack did hardly any damage to the zubat though. they had a type disadvantage. ''Zazu, do gust!'' the boy yelled. ''Be carefull Flora!'' Rose yelled. it didn;t do much though, as Flora was caught up in the gust, getting quite the damage. ''Flora, try absorb once more!'' Flora, who got up again after the attack, attempted to do absorb. ''Zazu, dodge it and do Supersonic!'' the boy yelled. Zazu dodged the attack barely, and performed Supersonic, confusing poor Flora in the process. ''Oh no!'', Rose yelled. ''please, snap out of it, Flora!'' Zazu and his trainer took advantage of the confusion and attacked flora once mroe with Gust, nearly knocking her out. ''Come on Flora, please try and snap out of it! try to attack with absorb!'' Rose said as a last resort. however, the battle was decided. in her confusion Flora knocked herself out. ''Oh no! stop the battle please!'' Rose said, as she rushed over to the pokemon. Zazu screeched happily as they won and the boy went to celebrate with his pokemon, not caring much for Flora and Rose. the Teacher came over quickly with a potion. he complimented on the battle. it might have been short, but it displayed the status effect very well.

After a couple of more matches, the class was over. Everyone who participated recieved a goodiebag with items. Rose sighed. she was unhappy she lost, but she knew it was educational. she left the school and returned to the Pokecenter, healing up her pokemon and telling about her adventures at her school. After that, she went into the lobby and played with her pokemon.

As soon as Eric sat down, Eric began answering the series of questions that Kade seemed to have.

"Uh, yeah, I was able to communicate with that lost Cottonee because I was raised by a pride of Litleo and Pyroar for most of my young life, and in order to survive then, I had to be able to learn how to talk to Pokemon. It wasn't until I was ten I finally reached civilization, I fell in love with a girl from the Unova region. Her name was Peggy. Sadly, about three years ago, she was murdered by a group called Team Rocket. I'm not entirely sure if they're still around or not, but if they are, I want revenge." Eric answered.

"Anything else you'd like to know, uh... Kade, is it?" He continued, almost completely forgetting this guy's name.

Tanya Heartroot

"You did well for a first-timer really." Those were the words that stuck in Tanya's mind, she was disappointed in herself that the first gym battle wasn't a victory.
Never the less, the compliment she had gotten from the young gym leader managed to make her smile everytime.

"Come on Glimmer time to go!" Glimmer was playing with some other Pokémon in the Trainer Academy.
Tanya thought that educating herself with some basic knowledge was the right thing to do after she lost her gym battle.
When she walked trough the door, she was greeted by the warm touch of sunrays.
Rumbling through her bag she searched for the flyer that she got earlier, it contained some information about Meowth and Persian.
"Can't believe they have one for each Pokémon.." Tanya whispered to herself while reading the moves that the Meowth line could learn.

"We should go train Glimmer! Maybe you'll end up learning a new move?" "Meoow!" Glimmer rubbed his paws over his mouth, hinting that he knew something.
"You already learned a new move? Well why don't you show me! Go attack that tree over there!" The meowth obeyed it's trainer and ran off towards the tree.
Glimmer jumped up, opened his mouth and then bit off a branch.
"Oh that must be your 'Bite' move, correct?" She opened the flyer once more, looking up this new attack she just saw. "A Dark type move huh? That might come in handy! I knew for a fact Miss Sabrina uses Psychic types, Psychic is weak to Dark!"

Tanya sat down and watched her partner bite down on a few more branches, she decided he deserved a reward despite the fact Meowth already seemed to know how to use Bite.
As she grabbed a Pokésnack from her bag she looked up and saw Glimmer standing right in front of her.
"As soon as you hear the lid huh?" Tanya giggled and gave Glimmer his snack that he was so eager to eat.
She herself bit down on a big apple and bathed in the warm sunlight.

Chapter 2.2: Route 22! A Special Pokemon Surprise!

Quinn hopped into Route 22 with the mindset to train. As Quinn started walking on the route, he took note of the beautiful scenery on the route.
Beyond the tall grass, where there was a mass of trees, Quinn spotted a Mankey. The Mankey looked at a wild pokemon that Quinn couldn't see in the tall grass. The grass started rustling, and the Mankey turned and scurried up the tree. The Mankey stuck its tongue out towards the unknown pokemon. The rustling of the tall grass stopped.
Up in the air, two Spearow were battling it out while a third watched from afar. Both Spearow kept at close range, constantly trying to Peck each other. The third Spearow off in the distance was giggling.
Mezmorized by the scenery, Quinn didn't notice there was a kid in the way. He was a boy, 7 or 8. He thought today's society called these people "Youngsters". The kid, whose name was Billy, kept babbling and babbling. Quinn didn't care what this youngster said. He just wanted to beat him. When the kid finally stopped talking, they proceded to battle. It was a fairly boring battle in the eyes of a spectator. The youngster didn't stand a chance. He sent out a Diglett, so Quinn sent out his Ledyba. Quinn's Ledyba had the advantage of flying while Diglett was constantly grounded. So Ledyba was taunting Diglett by flying just out of range of Diglett's attack range. So Ledyba was able to hit a close range Supersonic and hit it with Comet Punches while it was confused, knocking the Diglett out.
The Youngster then sent out a Rattata, so Quinn recalled Ledyba and sent out Croagunk. The Youngster told it to use Tackle, and Quinn told Croagunk to use Drain Punch when the Rattata got close. So when Rattata got close for its Tackle attack, Croagunk's Drain Punching  effectively stopped Rattata's advance, and shoved it backwards. That one attack fainted the pokemon. Quinn collected his prize money and continued on his way. Along the route there were a couple more trainers that Quinn fought. Most of them were easy battles, aside from this one Fisherman he fought that had a Wingull. He managed to get Croagunk low but Quinn got extremely lucky when his Drain Punch poisoned the Wingull. The poison knocked out the Wingull.
Up ahead, there was another trainer. Quinn decided that he would be the last trainer he battled. He was about to walk up to him when Quinn noticed something peculiar. They were footprints leading away from civilization that weren't the same type of footprints he had seen from the wild pokemon on this route. He looked over and saw a Togepi hobbling off into the dense trees. Quinn wasted no time going into action. Crasher Wake once told him that Togepi was a rare pokemon. Quinn got out both pokeballs and threw them out.
"Ledyba! Croagunk! Follow that Togepi!" Quinn exclaimed. Quinn noticed that Ledyba started beating it's wings and started flying fast, as expected. But what surprised him was the speed of Croagunk. It was... Unnaturally fast. It was dashing at amazing speed, and Croagunk seemed to bring an almost dark aspect to his dashes. That is when Quinn realized. It is unnatural because he is using a move. A new move. Pursuit.

Route 22 | 10:00 am

-------Arthur wound back before slinging the Pokeball over into the tall grass, where it soared over his quarry's head and fell with a Plunk! into a farther-off pool, never to be recovered. Back in Pallet, the boy had been regarded as a star thrower, proposed even to play sports in faraway Unova, but the Mankey proved an evasive target. It moved remarkably fast for a thing of two toes and its slight size hardly helped matters.

-------The boy couldn't recall how many capsules he had thrown; it felt like he'd been stalling here, tossing and tossing, like his arm was a lever and the pressure to catch something before the Gym the effort. Yet, Arthur had little time to evaluate if the Mankey was precisely worth anything. The creature was giving him a solid death glare and, at any moment, could come rocketing towards Art with that unbelievable speed. Of course, Lavender was intended to protect him in such a predictable incidence, but at this point, the new Trainer doubted her capability in doing that.

-------The Hoppip was bouncing all about the object of interest, currently, dancing in and out as the Mankey ogled her irately, bewilderingly. Arthur decided her current strategy of playing "distractor" was better than none.

-------"Lavender, use Splash!"

-------A technique she was more than adjusted to. With a whistling cry, the Cottonweed made a mighty bound, straight up and over the Mankey's head. As suspected, it followed her wildly with its eyes. The Mankey looked madder than ever.

-------Arthur bit his lip, regarding the creature's incandescence, and knew he had to capture it fast. He didn't know how Lavender would take an attack, any attack. She was a Flying type, he knew that much, and the opponent was Fighting, but he astutely noted their claws and decided, regardless of type, they'd hurt her.

-------It was immature, he inwardly admitted, to wish to protect the Pokemon that was intended to protect him. In truth, Lavender was as light as a cloud, perhaps even lighter, literally. His father had been joking when he'd exaggerated how many weaknesses Grass-types had and how many a Grass and Flying type must have to have, but Arthur regretted that the topic had even come up. Now every time he looked at his Hoppip, he felt a pang of… some feeling.

-------Though they'd made it through Route 1 together; it would be impossible not to. The Professor had strongly insisted an aid for Arthur and Lavender, and that aid had in-turn insisted they stay on the one-way path and keep moving through the grass and their Growlithe would deal with any aggressors, though nothing was daring enough to press an attack against two humans and their fire-spitting guard.

-------Arthur supposed the real 'experience of a lifetime' was yet to come. He'd only been out for two hours.

-------The sound of the nth-number Pokeball bursting apart was accompanied by a heavy sigh from Arthur. The Mankey stirred dizzily after being sucked in for about half a second's time, then spat out.

-------This wasn't working. Arthur ached to leave the Mankey behind but he was knee-deep now. He needed a second Pokemon for the first Gym. Every Trainer got a second Pokemon for the first gym. If the Fighting-type saw him striding off, it'd follow, anyway. He'd sicced a reputably bitter Pokemon onto himself, but that was besides the point. If only he had a better— If only Lavender could hit the damned creature in the face or do anything to weaken the thing to make capturing it a lot easier, a lot more possible.

-------"Just hit it or something!" His high, exasperated call rose to the Hoppip's ears but she responded only with a confused look as she strove to analyze a non-specific order.

-------As if broken from a spell, the red-faced Mankey's attention snapped to her and it's temper broke. That dazzling speed! It pounced onto the Hoppip and raked her face with its claws.

-------Oh Gyarados, no. Arthur, weighed down by a hollow feeling, dove frantically into the backpack slouched at his feet. As he brushed the bottom of his bag's front pocket, he recognized with a further sense of dread the sensation of emptiness. This is my last one.

-------He pulled the final Pokeball from the far corner, just as Lavender had managed to dislodge the Mankey's claws from her forehead. Arthur heard her cry of pain and couldn't dare to look at the damage done, screwing his eyes tightly before flinging the 'ball with all his possible might.

-------There was a quiet Shloop; at the very least, it'd met its target.

Elise "Ellie" Masen

Ellie frowned as she didn't get a response and tried to look for more footprints, only to see that there weren't any. Hope couldn't have just vanished, could she? She wasn't a Ghost-type or anything, and Togepis couldn't fly until they evolved. She had to have been picked up by one of the local Pokemon, which wasn't good. Hope couldn't defend herself. She just panicked and cried until someone came to help her.

Ellie adjusted her flower crown and pursed her lips. She considered going back to Viridian to maybe look for help, but she didn't want to look irresponsible. She could do this. She just had to look a little bit harder. She took her shoes off and put them in her backpack and prepared to climb a nearby tree, but stopped when she heard the familiar sound of a crying Togepi, followed by someone's voice telling their Pokemon to attack.

"Hope?" she whispered, letting go of the branch she was holding. She followed the sound and gasped as she saw Hope, who was covered in dirt and scratches like her, being chased by a Croagunk and Ledyba. She narrowed her eyes as she saw their trainer, who was a boy around her age. She marched up to him angrily and glared up at him.

"That's my Togepi!" she yelled, pointing at Hope. "Why are you attacking her? Call your Pokemon off before she gets hurt!"

Chapter 2.3: Trouble-a-New on Route 22!

Quinn was greatly admiring Croagunk's determination and newfound speed when an annoying voice came from his left, followed by a person coming into his peripheral vision. She talked something about her pokemon and stopping. Quinn put that back in his mind and stepped forward, removing the person from his vision.
"Quiet. I'm trying to catch a rare wild pokemon."
Both of his pokemon were about to catch up to the Togepi. It was amazing how much speed Pursuit gave when chasing down someone. It helped match the speed of Ledyba, a fast flying type. The two pokemon were a couple of moments from ramming into the pokemon when that girl's words wandered back into his mind. He quickly put two and two together and realized that this girl was trying to catch the wild Togepi and wanted to get Quinn to stop battling it. Quinn made a split-second decision.
"Croagunk! Ledyba! Don't attack it, just grab it and hold on to it!" Quinn shouted. Two seconds before they would've made impact, the words registered in the two pokemon's ears and they slowed for stopping at the Togepi. The two pokemon grabbed Togepi as if arresting the pokemon. Quinn walked up to the Togepi, grabbed it, and turned around, holding it out in front of the trainer. The Togepi squirmed in his hands but Quinn held firmly.
"If this is really your pokemon, put it bak into it's pokeball." Quinn demanded.

Kade was quite taken aback by Eric's response.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." Kade said. "I mean it's... Well I guess... I... Uh." Kade stuttered as his voice trailed off. Honestly, this answered a lot of his questions such as his ability, his clothing, and most of all, the reason Kade recognized the look in his eyes. It WAS the look Kade saw in the mirror. The look of someone who had lost everything. The look of someone who was angry, sad, and alone. Kade suddenly realized just how similar they were.

Both of their lives had been ruined by Team Rocket.

And both of them wanted revenge.

Elise "Ellie" Masen

Ellie glared at the boy as he ignored her and was tempted to try to force him to make his Pokemon stop, but she was completely exhausted from spending so much effort looking for Hope. She could only glare at him and his Pokemon. People in Floraroma weren't nearly as rude. Everyone from her hometown was friendly and cared about each other, but this boy was just… mean. She sniffled as his Pokemon chased Hope, but held back her tears. She didn't want to give him anything to make fun of her about.

I didn't expect my journey to start like this… Are people really this mean?
she thought.

She watched helplessly as the boy's Pokemon chased Hope and eventually just restrained her, making Ellie sigh in relief. She scowled at the boy as he picked up Hope, who was crying loudly and trying to get out of his arms. She pulled out Hope's Pokeball (which she had put a pink flower sticker on back home so that she wouldn't get it confused with her sister's), and returned the Togepi to her Pokeball. She closed her eyes and kissed the Pokeball, silently apologizing to her Pokemon.

"Now do you believe me?" she asked as she opened her eyes and glared at the boy.
She held Hope's Pokeball tightly, hoping to calm her down. Hope tended to leave her Pokeball whenever she was scared, which caused a lot of trouble for Ellie most of the time.

Chapter 2.4: Mistakes Were Made! Time to Fix Them!

Quinn now stood there in front of this girl, his arms and hands holding nothing. He looked stupid now. Quinn put his hands down and proceded to speak, stuterrinfor the first few words.
"Uh.. Er... Sorry about that. You see, I'm going on a journey to beat all the gym leaders!" Quinn flashed a wacky grin before talking again, this time with more confidence. "Professor Oak told me that if I can beat all the gym leaders and such, then the ship leaving Vermillion City will have to take me on the ship! Then I can see Crasher Wake again!" Quinn said, stopping smiling. He then pointed to Croagunk beside him. "This is my Croagunk. He's been with me since I moved to kanto but I've known him a long time before that. He's my best pal." Quinn then pointed at Ledyba. "This is my Ledyba. I caught it recently. There was a nice story to go along. Whe I first saw the ledyba, it was off alone being sad. He reminded me of younger me. So I fought it and his other Ledyba friends watched, but I won and I caught it and here I am." Quinn flashed tha wacky smile again for a split second, then it diccipated. Quinn then proceded to walk right up to the trainer. Quinn stuck out his right hand towards the girl. He gave her a less wacky, more emotional smile.
"Hi! I'm Quinn! Sorry for the confusion earlier! What's your name?"

Tanya Heartroot

Later that afternoon Tanya decided to check out the local Pokémart to stock up on items and browse for things she wanted but couldn't affort.
When she entered the mart she was greeted by the clerk who was reading a magazine with a bored look on his face.

"Good afternoon!" Tanya replied back while making a small bow, and hopped off towards the items.
Glimmer himself was staring at some Pokédolls thinking they were real and tried to poke one of them.
"Ehm miss could you please keep your Pokémon under control? Preferably in it's ball.." The clerk looked towards the Meowth with a stern look on his face, but Glimmer was way to intrigued by the dolls.
"Terribly sorry! Glimmer stop that and behave, i'll be done soon alright?"

Her Pokémon listened and slowly retracted his paw but he kept staring at the doll section.

So many nice items but I can't afford them.. Tanya thought of the days when she could buy everything she desired.
She walked up towards the counter since she knew she wasn't going to able to buy the stuff she wanted and asked for two Potions and two Poké balls.
"Certainly that will be 750".
"750? That can't be correct, isn't it supposed to be 1000?" "See it as a discount" the clerk replied.
Tanya thanked the clerk, put the items in her bag and walked outside.
"Well it's not much but at least we saved some money right Glimmer? ..Glimmer? Hey where are you running off to!"
She noticed Meowth was running off and decided to run after him right away.

While she was with her pokemon in the lobby, Rose decided it would be nice to make some treats. she knew an easy recipe for delicious cookies. she asked Nurse joy if she could borrow the kitchen in a little while. Thankfully while she was lost in the city earlier, she bought some ingredients, including a couple of sweet berries. She went to the kitchen with Chancey, who showed where everything was and how it worked. She tanked the Chansey and started baking cookies.

After mixing and shaping the dough, she grabbed some cute pokemon-shaped cookie cutters, cut out the cookies and placed them in the oven. after a couple of minutes, the whole kitchen smelled sweet yet savoury, and it seemed to attract the attention of Nurse Joy and others. Rose told her the cookies would be done in a little while and she baked plenty for a whole group, so she was free to grab a couple once they were done.

After about half an hour the cookies were done. Rose placed them on the counter to cool down. When she looked away for a moment to clean up and looked back though, she noticed a cookie was missing. Suddenly she heard a meowth cry out in surprise as it sneakily took a cookie. ''Hey little meowth, you gotta wait till they are cooled down!'' Rose smiled. "put it back for now, you can eat it once it has cooled down." Then she noticed a trainer in the door with a beautiful white outfit, long blonde hair and almond shaped eyes... "oh.. is this pokemon yours, miss?" Rose asked.

Oakley Brumble
Loation: Viridian City
ponyta.gif

Chapter 1: What on Earth am I Doing?

~***~
Oakley petted Blue Flash on her neck as the Ponyta slowed down from her vigerous trot into a lazy amble. The horse-Pokemon snorted and shook her head, stretching her neck out in front of her. Oakley loosened her grip on the reins to let her do so. She hoped to find a Pokemon Center around here. She'd been riding on Blue Flash for about five hours and both the Ponyta and her rider were feeling quite fatigued and -in Oakley's case- hungry. Blue Flash was better off as Oakley allowed the fire-type to grab a mouthful of grass or leaves on the way. As they went on, Oakley's thoughts drifted away from her family back at the ranch and started thinking more about finding something to eat. Despite that, memories of this morning were still clear in the girl's head.

Oakley sighed irritably after finishing her sixth helping of scrambled eggs with cheese. Looking around the kitchen, her father and mother were sitting with their coffee, sipping and chatting as if today was any other day. But it wasn't any ordinary day, and the strawberry blonde knew that. As she got up to get another helping of breakfast, the voice of her father catches her attention.
"So, kiddo, you excited about today?" He asked, Oakley could see a smile under the man's blonde and shaggy beard.
"You are more than me." The girl responded before shoving a slice of toast in her mouth and taking back her seat at the table. The man shook his head.
"Come on, Oak we did discuss this-"
"Dad, do I really have to go? I mean... Won't you and mum need help with the ranch since papa still isn't well?" The girl whined, though she was worried about her grandfather. He hadn't been able to get up for days! And there was a lot to do around the place.
"We discussed this as well!" Selix answered back in such a tone that Oakley felt that she had no other option but to stay quiet, "Oakley, this is a great opportunity for you, you really should have been leaving for your journey five years ago but-"
"I didn't want to go then, either. Dad, I'm happy to stay here and help you and mum-!"
"Oakley, I don't consider sleeping in until two pm and eating us out of house and home 'helping'." Selix folded his thick arms and watched his daughter as she sighed and stuffed a forkfull of scrambled egg in her mouth, "All I'm saying is that you should really get out there and see the world! You can't spend your whole life here, you know!"

Oakley's yellow eyes lowered. He had a point. She did wonder what else was out there beyond their ranch. All she knew was that it was just down the first part of Route 1. It was one of several and the girl did see a number of people venture down the route in the last few days. It had sparked her interest and it seemed to pass onto Selix, who almost instantly prepared to have her leave, ignoring his daughter's protests the whole time. There wasn't any point in arguing anymore, it was happening no matter what.
Oakley sighed as she pushed her plate away, "I'm going to get my bag then go and saddle up Blue Flash." She yawned as she walked out of the kitchen.
"Oh, Oak I just remembered! I bought you shampoo and shower gel for you to take, remember to use them!" She vaguely heard mother, Juniper, shout after her as she went up the stairs. The girl rolled her eyes, seeing how she was not much of a fan of baths, she knew that she would just forget about them and not bother with them. Living on a ranch barely gave her time for it anyway, and surely that would be the same while travelling. Besides, there wasn't any point. What was she supposed to do on this journey?

A rumbling noise pulled Oakley out of her thoughts. She sighed and looked wistfully at her stomach, Arceus she was hungry. It was only now she was fully aware of it. She put her hand against her belly as it let out another loud growl. Blue Flash snorted and her head shot up, her ears flicking around as she looked for the non-existing Mightyana she thought she heard.
"Sorry, Flash." Oakley sighed and scratched the Ponyta's withers, the blue flames on her neck sweeping past her fingers without burning them, "The city's just ahead, not much longer." she added, not sure if she was talking to Blue Flash or her stomach. But just as she said this, she noticed the city was at the bottom of the hill. She sighed in relief and clicked Blue Flash into a brisk walk. The equine was also eager to get to the city, Oakley could feel it in her strides.

Oakley was thankful to finally get into the city. It was pretty busy, which the girl wasn't very used to as she was more accustomed to the quietness of the countryside. Though she wasn't too bothered by the crowds. Blue Flash seemed to have different thoughts as she shook her mane and pawed the pavement impatiently. Looking around, the girl noticed the Pokemon Center. She dismounted the Ponyta before loosening the girth. She pulled the reins over the Ponyta's head and led her into the center.

As Oakley entered the lobby, Blue Flash suddenly squealed and reared up, catching Oakley by surprise. The girl let out a yelp as she was pulled backwards as Flash reared up. Oakley grunted as she landed on her behind. Shaking her head, she suddenly noticed what had scared Blue Flash. A Meowth had ran between the Ponyta's legs and was now running through the lobby.
"Ow..." Oakley groaned as she picked herself up, rubbing her backside. "Think I bruised my coccyx..." she grabbed Flash's reins and led her to the front desk.
"Hello there!" the Nurse Joy at the desk chirped before chuckling a little, "Are you ok? Seems your Ponyta got a fright."
"Yeah I'm ok. I'm just wondering-" Oakley started but as she spoke, her nose suddenly picked up on the very sweet scent of fresh cookies. As smell floated into her nose, her stomach let out another loud rumble. Oakley gripped onto it and darted her yellow eyes a little, feeling a bit embaressed. She could hear clopping behind her meaning that Blue Flash was making her way towards the source of the scent.
"Hm, you smelled them too?" Nurse Joy smiled, before pointing to the girl holding the treats, "Well, this nice girl has made a batch and they're just ready. You could ask for one."
Oakley nodded, though judging by how it had been ages since she last ate, she'd rather have the whole plate. Blue Flash was already near the dark-pink haired girl and sniffing the cookies.
"Blue, stop that!" Oak grabbed the Ponyta's reins and tried to pull her away, but she wasn't deterred. The sound of the door opening made Oakley turn and notice another girl run in, she had long and beautiful blonde hair and was in a white outfit. Oakley didn't say anything, feeling a bit out of place. Both girls had clean and sweeping vivid coloured hair and nice outfits while Oakley was in her jeans and black t-shirt which was too big for her along with the red bandanna around her neck. Not to mention that it had been some time since she last had a bath.
"Heh, sorry about Blue Flash, she likes cookies- come on!" she tries to pull Blue Flash away but, again, the Ponyta stubbornly refused to move. Great way to make a first impression!

Robert Moss | Viridian City
209MS.png

___________________________________________________________________

Rob sat on a bench outside the PokéMart admiring his newly-obtained Trainer ID. The ID had arrived through special courier at the Mart just this morning, and although Rob was completely aware of what his choice to take on the Gym Challenge required of him, it now suddenly hit him like a Bullet Punch that after leaving his home in the morning, he wouldn't be going back there any time soon. "Rookie trainer, eh?" an old man asked as he approached Rob, "it might be in your best interest to check this out."

'COME JOIN US AT THE POKÉMON ACADEMY TODAY FOR FREE SPECIAL LESSONS WITH WORLD-RENOWN COORDINATOR, SILVIO!' read the pamphlet that the old man had given him.

'Who the heck is Silvio?' Rob wondered. "Excuse me, sir!" he called out looking for the old man, but he was already down the street passing out more pamphlets. "Eh, I don't need this," he stated out loud for no one in particular, and crumpling the pamphlet into a ball, he threw it towards a nearby trash can, where it hit the rim and fell on the street, which caused Princess to go fetch it.

"Alright then, I guess we're going." Rob chuckled as he took the slobbered ball of paper from his Pokémon's jaws, and walked up to the trash to drop it properly.

___________________________________________________________________

In the end, going to the classes turned out to be a horrid idea. Silvio should have best been described as a second-tier trainer, rather than a "world-renown coordinator", and his classes, though advertised for new and inexperienced trainers would be better off in a first grader's first semester's curriculum, and judging by the man's monotonous blabber, it seemed obvious that he wasn't thrilled to be there either.

"… so poison. Everyone and their mother knows that the best and most widely available cure for Pokémon poisoning is the Antidote. However there are many natural alternatives that are completely organic and should be considered healthier..." Rob yawned profusely.

"Well, look at that, a Golbat trying to pass off as a trainer!" Rob blushed as the younger contingent of the audience laughed, he hadn't been called a Golbat for yawning since... before elementary school. "I'm sorry mister... whatever. Do my lessons bore you?" Silvio asked despondently.

"I heard we would be battling," Rob replied drawing some noises of agreement from the class. "We know this stuff already."

"Really?" Silvio asked incredulous. "Well do enlighten us good sir, what are the most common alternative cures for Pokémon poisoning?"

"Pecha Berries, Lum Berries, and Aromatherapy have the best and swiftest effect." Rob replied as if reading off a list, and upon seeing the start of a grin on Silvio's face, he added: "There's also Heal Powder, although it is notoriously bitter and noxious to most Pokémon, so it's best to only use it as a last resort." There, no more smiles.

"Very well," Silvio said clearing his throat. "What about hypnosis?"

"Hypnosis is an unnatural sleep caused by a Pokémon attack, whether physical or mental. It can be cured through the use of Lum Berries and Chesto Berries, although it can be difficult to administer these to sleeping Pokémon, so Awakening spray should be preferred. Aromatherapy and Heal Powder can also cure hypnosis, as well as PokéFlutes, which hit ultrasonic notes that interfere with the effects of Pokémon-induced hypnosis. As a last resort, one can always rely on a solid Wake-Up Slap."

"Very well then," Silvio started amidst hushed cheers around the room. "Looks like it's time for battle practice."

___________________________________________________________________

Rob was paired up against one of the more experienced trainers in the class who swiftly brought out a Magnemite from its Poké Ball. 'He did this on purpose…' Rob realized incredulous looking towards Silvio, noting that the Steel-typed Magnemite was, in theory, a good counter against his Fairy-type Snubbull. "Go Princess" he commanded his Pokémon, who lunged forward with an intimidating snarl, that caused the Magnemite to stutter in midair.

"Alright Screwball, use your Sonic Boom!"

"Princess, dodge!"

The Snubbull was able to jump just quick enough to avoid the full brunt of the sonic wave generated by the Magnemite. As the Snubbull landed, she looked up at her opponent with a scary face that visibly startled the Steel-type Pokémon once more. "Don't just stand there Princess! Get at it!" Rob yelled, encouraging his Pokémon forward. Princess threw herself at the floating Magnemite, grabbing ahold of its magnet arm and crunching it with her sharp fangs, unwilling to let go.

"Screwball, use ThunderShock!" Rob's opponent screamed. The sudden electrical outburst sent forth by the Magnet Pokémon sent Princess reeling, visibly hurt by what must have been a critical hit.

"Come on Princess, get at it again, but let go this time. Bite only!" Rob pleaded with his Pokémon who once more lunged herself at her floating opponent. She bit the same magnet once more, but this time she let go of the Magnemite just in time to avoid getting shocked a second time.

"Screwball hit it with a Supersonic!" The Magnemite's screws and magnets began to twirl and rotate, and although nothing else appeared to be happening, the Snubbull's soft whimpers told Rob everything he needed to know. The Magnemite's twirling stopped, and Princess' whimpers ceased before Rob thought to command his Pokémon again.

Although Princess was visibly hurt and tired, the Magnemite was emitting a low frequency buzz that Rob quickly recognized as a sign of exhaustion. "Come on Princess, get it with a crunch just one more time and it'll all be over!" he yelled in anticipation. However, Princess tripped in her dazed and confused state before reaching the Magnemite.

"Yes! Screwball, hit it with a ThunderShock just one more time!" Rob's opponent commanded to no avail, as his Magnemite failed to summon enough energy for one more burst and similarly to its opponent, failed to be able to attack; his Pokémon was on its last legs already (figuratively, of course).

"Damn!" the guy cursed as he noticed the Snubbull struggling to stand back up. "Finish her with a tackle Screwball, go!"

The Magnemite picked up speed in a straight collision course against the Snubbull, however, when it was ready to hit Princess, the Fairy-type Pokémon opened her jaws wide open, revealing a furnace-like heat emanating from its mouth, and biting down hard on the Steel-type Pokémon with her fiery fangs, to then throw it off to the side, toasty and knocked out. 'Was that...?

___________________________________________________________________

"Nice! Fire Fang? I certainly did not expect that!" Rob's opponent recalled his Magnemite to its Poké Ball, and walked towards him to shake his hand. "Name's Jeff, by the way. I'm sorry, but I have to know, what breeder did you get that Pokémon from? Fire Fang is such a good coverage move for you, Houndoom father I assume? Must be a nasty little lady, huh?"

"Oh, uh…" in truth Rob didn't know what to say, he didn't even know of Princess' parentage, which, now that he realized it, seems like a fairly important thing to know about, especially for the son of the man who bred her. "I'm sorry, the name's Rob, and I got her from Ed Moss, he's umm… a local breeder."

"Cool, cool, I'll definitely check him out." Jeff said shaking Rob's hand again, "and thanks for the battle man, it's always good to find stiff competition for your weaker Pokémon, don't you think?"

'Weaker Pokémon?' It suddenly dawned on Rob that he was probably the greenest trainer in the whole Academy today, and he was acting like he was all that and more… embarrassing. "So, are you here to take on the The Viridian City Gym Leader?" he asked as both trainers walked out of the Academy, participation prizes in tow.

"Oh, no, I did that yesterday. Pretty easy fight to be honest, you'll be fine. It's my third badge, actually!" he added showing Rob his Cascade, Boulder, and Earth Badges. "Right now I'm headed down south to Cinnabar Island; the counterclockwise circuit, you feel me?"

"Yeah" Rob replied not actually feeling a thing. "Umm… here's my stop," he added motioning towards the Pokémon Center. "Ed Moss's is right down this street on the right hand side, you can't miss it."

"Alright, sounds good bro." Jeff replied; he was a very chipper guy, Rob realized. "And hey, here's my number, if you have a Pokégear hit me up some time bro, I'm always down for a quick spar. Anyways, peace!"

Rob simply stood there for another two minutes staring at the number after Jeff had gone out of sight. "Huh."

Eric looked at Kade, and asked him "You were about to say something else, weren't you?", knowing that this Trainer had drawn a blank. "Well then, what is it?"

Eric then waited patiently, somewhat, for an answer.

Eric imagined himself obliterating the remnants of Team Rocket to avenge his beloved Peggy's death, and smirked to himself.

Eric had plans to propose to Peggy that fateful night, but she was killed by Team Rocket, and that was the worst part. Will Eric find love again? The world may never know, as he was still grieving and wanted sweet revenge, which as we all know, is a dish best served cold.

Eric looked around, and thought he heard someone say his name. But it was just a figment of his imagination.

Tanya Heartroot

"Glimmer why are you going towards the Pokécenter?!" Tanya had no idea what Meowth was planning but regardless she followed him inside.
She was greeted by a sweet smell and immediatley understood why Glimmer ran off, he was pretty gluttonous after all.

Her partner had of course already stole one of the cookies and was nibbling on it.
Tanya's gaze fell upon the two girls that were standing near Glimmer, and immediatley wondered if she was in trouble because of Glimmer's gluttony.
"Oh.. is this Pokémon yours, miss?" She heard the pink haired girl ask. Tanya bowed and apologised right away "Yes that's my Meowth, who had eaten already not to long ago!" She looked towards her Pokémon with a stern look on her face.

There was a odd colored Ponyta standing next to the other girl who was sniffing the cookie plate and most likely eager to try one as well. "It seems Pokémon can't resist your cookies." She looked towards the pink haired girl again and giggled slightly.
"That's a pretty odd color for Ponyta by the way, I thought they usually had red flames?" Tanya looked towards the other girl once more and suddenly it came to her mind that she hadn't introduced herself yet.
"Oh where are my manners! I am Tanya Heartroot, pleased to meet you." She made a slight bow once more and smiled towards the two girls.

Looking at the sudden ruckus that occorred just because of the cookies, Rose found herself in a bit of an akward space. on one end she had a meowth tryign to snag a cookie, on the other there was a beautifull blue ponyta trying to snag one as wel. Thankfully the other trainers started to talk first. "oh, well, nice to meet you, Miss Heartroot.. say.. that name does sound familiar.. have you been on TV before?" Rose asked. She pulled the plate just slightly away from the ponyta to make sure the cookies could cool just a little more. "easy now, pretty ponyta! while you are a fire-type, these cookies can still hurt you if they are too warm!" She smiled when she heard the Ponyta trainer. "Don't worry, you can all have a cookie. just be patient. I can't wait to try them too, but i don't want to burn my mouth. Meanwhile let me introduce myself. my name is Rosemary du Fontaine, I am a nurse-to-be trainer. I hope to be able to run my own Pokecenter one day to help all the pokemon. what is your name, Miss Ponyta?" Rose told and asked. Right at that moment a ding was heard. "oh, the cookies are ready to be eaten now! please, help yourselves! but, leave some for the others too." Rose smiled. she grabbed a cookie and awaited the answers to her questions.

Oakley Brumble
Loation: Viridian City

~***~
"Blue, I swear to Arceus if you don't move I'm gonna-!" Oakley was finally able to push Blue Flash back away from the girl with the cookies. Blue Flash shook her head and snorted impatiently but stayed back like her trainer wanted. Oakley sighed and turned back towards the pink-haired girl holding the cookies.

"I'm sorry about that." she sighed before listening to both girls speak and introduce themselves. Tanya Hartroot and Rosemery du Fontaine. Oakley blinked a few times. Good Arceus, even their names sounded better than hers! The girl scratched the back of her head as both girls suddenly asked about Blue Flash. Oakley wasn't surprised, Ponytas with blue flames were rare to come by and aside from Blue Flash, Oakley had never seen another one. She strokes Blue Flash on her neck and looked at Tanya to answer her question.

"Yeah, Blue Flash is pretty unique. We raise Ponyta on our ranch and she's the only one with blue flames. I was the one tending to her when she was born and my dad let me have her. All the other Ponyta have red flames." she stroked Blue on her muzzle. She looked at the other girls as they both introduced themselves and she guessed she should also introduce herself.

"I'm Oakley Brumble, nice to meet you guys." She gave them both a smile and listened as the pair told her a little about themselves. Oakley rubbed her stomach as it let out another rumble, still feeling a little unsure. So Tanya was on TV apparantly and Rose was a nurse-in-training and she was just some girl from a ranch in the middle of nowhere. The girl blinked,
"Well, I'm from a ranch a number of miles away from here and this is my first time travelling so... yeah." Oakley shrugged, "Yeah, that's about it." she adds.

As she finished saying this, Rose suddeny announced that the cookies were now ready to eat. The girl was relieved to hear this and, after waiting a moment to let others take some, she grabs a couple herself. She gave Blue Flash one of the cookies before biting into her own.
"Mmh! This is really good! Thanks!" she smiles and compliments the girl who made them before finishing it. It wasn't much but Oakley was still thankful, it would probably hold her over until she could get herself some lunch... though how she was going to do that she didn't know.

Oakley was distracted by the sound of sniffing and she noticed Blue Flash trying to mooch a cookie off of the other girl, Oakley sighed irritably and grabbed Blue Flash's reins.
"What the-? Now see here! I love food too but for Arceus sake you don't see me try and grab others' food!" she pushes the Ponyta back and fishes a tomato berry out of her pocket for the Ponyta to have. It seemed to work as Blue's attention seemed to turn away from the cookies and onto her berry. Oakley sighed and rubbed her stomach, "Hm... uh, can you get lunch here or do I have to go somewhere else?" she asked the two girls, "Sorry, I don't know what I'm doing." she added, still feeling kinda out of place next to these girls who already seemed to have everything figured out.

Tanya Heartroot

The pink haired girl was called Rosemary du Fontaine, but Tanya was caught off guard by what she said earlier.
"Have you been on TV before?" Is what she had said, Tanya remembered she has been on TV sometimes when her father was being interviewed but that was quite some time ago. Maybe she saw the interviews after the scandal that occurred, after all the scandal caused her family to get some unwanted attention and lots of nasty remarks.
"Uh yes.." was the only response Tanya could give Rose, luckily she didn't have to talk about it, because the other girl answered the question she asked earlier.

"Yeah, Blue Flash is pretty unique. We raise Ponyta on our ranch and she's the only one with blue flames. I was the one tending to her when she was born and my dad let me have her. All the other Ponyta have red flames."
Afterwards she introduced herself, she was called Oakley Brumble.
Tanya wanted to ask her more about the raising, not only because she wanted to avoid talking about herself but also because she was genuinely interested.

That's when Rose announced the cookie's were ready to eat and she made a relieved sigh, Tanya herself wasn't that hungry but Glimmer seemed more then eager to get one more.
"Oh Glimmer.." She was staring happily at Glimmer not realising Oakley asked something, and decided to ask her about the farm and the raising of Pokémon, which is what she wanted to do earlier.

"So you grew up on a farm, what's that all like? If you don't mind me asking of course." Tanya looked towards Oakley and was smiling, hoping that the subject would not focus on her again.

After her anouncement, Rose listened to the other girls. The hesistant "yes" from Tanya made her curious, and as she was about to ask more, the subject got changed. it was obvious Tanya did not want to talk about being on TV before. Still, the idea stayed in the back of her head to brew. Rose also heard the question of the farmer girl, but before she could answer it, Tanya asked about the farm. "oh, before you answer that question, Oakley, for lunch, there is a kitchen area in the back, you can either cook some yourself, or buy some from the market." then Rose thought of something. "Say, why don't we all go get some food? It is about time to give food to our Pokemon as well. While we have lunch, we can talk more about whatever you like?" she asked. She was very interested in the trainers. She placed the plate on the counter and turned back to the others, ready to go where they want to go.
