Aaaand first major wildfire of the year. 61 dead in the central region of the country, and at least as many wounded.

High temperature, loads of wind, low humidity, dry lightning hits a tree and boom, the entire woods go to shit. Most of the trees in the north and centre are eucalyptus which doesn't help at all either. Fire spreads rapidly, surround a few villages, people on the roads were caught by surprise.

There have been some wildfires around my hometown through the years, but they were few and not really large enough to cause much panic. But they were enough (along with bigger ones further away, because winds) to cover the sky in smoke for a few days and have the air around us dry, smelling of ash, and at 40?C for several days
