I have no idea why I keep scrolling youtube comments/social media. It's such a trainwreck, for some reason I keep looking. Today on my feed:

"People are too soft. I think we need to bring back some old school bullying in 2021".

Someone trying to explain that giving a 12 year old a covid vaccine is the equivalent of forcing them into a bed and giving them chemo without cancer.

Asking if greta thunberg has stockholm syndrome because she's from stockholm sweden. I'd like to think this is simply a joke, but apparently it's been asked a lot on google. This was more funny than anything and it made me chuckle a bit.

What are the most silly thing you've heard? It doesn't have to be on social media, it could just be something you've heard in day to day life or along those lines.

I think the worst I've ever heard was after I came home from a school shooting. They had a designated spot to find our family members, and there were these big news trucks from FOX/CNN. I didn't want an interview, but I came home and that night decided to scroll the comment sections of these news outlets. We live in a small area and at heart I'm a curious person, and wanted to know what people around the world had been saying. There were people calling the shooting a hoax, saying stuff like "another fake shooting to push gun control". It was really nasty and insensitive.

Oh the "let's bully people so they'll be normal" shit people say online pisses me off so much. I was bullied constantly from the day I started school to the day I finished college, and then it started online. It's caused irreversible damage. We don't need to "normalize bullying" or whatever.

The kids can't get covid/don't get it bad takes when children's icus are at capacity from them getting covid.

i worked reception at a car dealership a few years ago. so this was 2016, but before the election. someone in the lobby was just chillin in a chair and openly talking about how he hoped someone would assassinate president obama. but then you know they were the same person that would turn around and berate someone for saying that about the president that came after obama lol. jesus. but like who does that just Out in the open. like he was not quiet at all.

In a position I held in the past at the bank I work for, I used to take escalated phone calls as an 'Account Manager' (this was just a title, really I just got paid more to let people yell at me). I stopped right after Covid starting making the news and everything. This call took place on my last week.

Me: Thank you for holding, am I speaking with Karen?
Karen: Yes! I have been holding for 45 minutes!!
Me: *sees she was holding for 22 seconds* I'm so sorry about that ma'am, *cough*, excuse me, the previous agent informed me that you were having some issues with accessing the-
Karen: DID YOU JUST COUGH?
Me: ...yes?
Karen: ARE YOU TRYING TO GET ME SICK WITH THE CORONAVIRUS?!
Me: ..this is a phone call?

Learned that some guy convinced people to use ivermectin to treat/prevent COVID. He subsequently died from COVID.

I should add that ivermectin is an anti parasitic, it's useless against a virus, I took some banana flavored back when I was 18 when I got intestinal worms.

I worked at a uniform store and one of the weirdest interactions I had was one time when I picked up the phone. A (confused) angry Karen called to complain that we sent her the wrong size uniform shirts.
Karen: I ordered an adult small and this says it's a size S!
(I was starting to sense something was off with this, but I continued with the generic spiel.)
Me: Okay, well you can come back to the store and we can exchange--
K: NO! I ordered these shirts to be sent to my house, so I'm not driving out to your store! Can I speak to your manager?

So then I gave the phone to the managers. Apparently we did send her the right size shirts. It didn't say it was an adult small on the shirt because it's a high school and there's no need to have a youth small size polo shirt for high schoolers. Ah yes, we love confused angry Karens.

I could fill this thread with some of the ridiculous conspiracies that one of my coworkers shares with us. The first time that he sees any coworker, he runs up to share the latest.

-On March 22, 2022, a group of people from Russia (?) will hack into the power systems of Canada, Mexico, and America, cutting electricity for five years.

-The COVID vaccines were testing on babies, who were all given billions of doses.

-Getting a vaccine puts a microchip in your body that has a barcode attached to it, which is listed in a giant database that the government can access at any time.

Also had a customer rant at me that there is no scientific proof that mask mandates make any difference because said customer doesn't know anyone that caught COVID. (It's me. I'm the one who had COVID.)
