the light that burns twice as bright burns half as long

you become instantly, incomparably successful in any career of your choosing
you also lose half your total lifespan

do you do it

A bit trickier for me to answer as my current circumstances are objectively speaking, pretty good. But yeah I would still say yes to this opportunity.

No, more than likely I would not. I have so much I want to do in my life and I already feel like time is ticking away too quickly!

nonono, i'd rather be a happy waste of space with a long life

Yes because for all I know, I am dying tomorrow. I may as well live my dream of being a musician!

No way. Half the fun of life is in pursuing your goals. Even though I love money and I would gladly accept a bonus I'd like to have something to pursue along the way, and half my life is too precious for that.

Amen, brother.

But think of all the things you could accomplish. If you tried to be a world leader you could make all kinds of changes. Even if you don't "earn" it there's still a lot to be said for getting stuff done regardless.

This is a very good point.
Although I wonder if I could really be okay with building the world I want and then dropping dead before ever really experiencing it. Even if I was the most skilled politician ever it'd take years and years to change my countries government - years fraught with opposition - and then there's still keeping those changes after they are implemented.

do I get to know how much of my lifespan I lost

depends on if I live to 100 or like 50.

also I'm not sure. I feel like climbing to where I want to be would make me feel more proud of myself. Hmm.
