[Event] The PokeCommunity Game-Along

I still have a fair bit to go, but I'm pretty sure that I can finish by the end of the month. The fortunate thing with this being my 4th playthrough+the specific ending route I'm going for this time means that I can cut down on the time needed a lot.

Round 3: completing all Present songs (with some Future songs mixed in).

Next month's theme will be revealed on February 1st, although for a lot of parts of the US it'll probably be either obscenely early in the morning or still January 31st, because it'll probably go up as soon as I wake up. xD

If you start a game now and it fits the theme for next month, then you can have that be your game for the month.

Knowing my luck I would jump start 2-3 games and it not qualify due to my rubbish luck -_-;

PROGRESS CHECK

Spoiler:

Speaking of next month, and every month following that: if anyone has ideas for monthly themes, or things they'd like to see, or would change, let us know! Definitely interested in hearing about how this can be improved upon to make it more engaging and interesting~

I can PM/DM you a few theme ideas later if that's good with you.

Round 4: completing all Future songs, thus effectively completing my part of this month's Game-Along. And made even better with me getting my first all-combo result (a.k.a. Full Recall) in a Future song now of all times.

GAME COMPLETE

I got 2 official endings (1 resulted in a game over but did generate the credits screen)

Time Played : 7 Hours, 45 Minutes
Level - 15/15
Final Friend Count - 114
Chinpokomon - 29 (Note, the game crashed when I had the "30th" one. Of course it didn't save so that also impacted the final friend count)
Main Quests - All
Side Quests - 20
Equipment - 46/103 (Though I can now buy almost all of it)
Achievements - 28/50 (To get them all I would have to replay some bits of the game, there are a few I can fart around on and get them now if I felt like it)

Warning : Images are slightly big, but here is the proof of before and after the end screen, also hopefully it shows... I have the folder on my profile on a semi-private setting.

Depending on the next genre I may do a livestream of it sooo... Can't wait to see what it will be :)

I DID IT! I FINISHED THE GAME. Well... I forgot how much I hate Ethelberd, that delusional old man can go stuck forever in the Forest of Beginnings. Honestly, the battles were easy when you know the attack patterns. And yeah not much to say about except I'm pretty happy I repeat playing this game.

P.S. I think the battle against the second boss (Dylas A.K.A. Thunderbolt) was the hardest, all because at that point I neglected my equipment and so focused on making Croquettes

I finished 6 worlds on 100%, but I don't think I'll be able to finish rest. I got stuck on 3rd level in secret world and the challenge levels from other worlds are... challenging and I don't have that much time to spend on them. But I'm still proud on myself to beat that much of puzzle game and I'll eventually beat the rest later this year.

Spoiler: i beat it on the final day!

I could have beat it earlier but there were definitely times I felt burnt from this game as well motivation for playing other games. Oh well, this was my fourth Dragon Quest game I've played and while I had fun, I felt it could be better and there were some parts that frustrated me to no end (what stood out was enemies would take damage from magic but then sometimes the same ones will be immune to it, which basically made using spells a risk of wasting a turn). While I don't see myself replaying it sometime in the future, I still would like to play more Dragon Quest games (for the record, I've played 3, 9, 11, and now 4).

February - Retro

For this month, we're going back in time! Back to a time when 3D technology was new and exciting, the console wars were bitter and bloody, the internet was still in its infancy, and when Square made Final Fantasy games that weren't complete trash. February's theme is Retro!

What is Retro, you ask? That largely depends on how old you are and what you grew up with! Got your own opinion on what classifies as retro? We've got a thread for that right here.

But for the Game Along, the following rules apply:

- For consoles, anything from the fifth generation or before.
- For handhelds, anything from the sixth generation or before.
- For PC, any game released in the year 2000 or before.

That's the basic guidelines. Now, for some specifics:

- Ports and HD Remasters (slightly updated visuals or quality-of-life features – think Final Fantasy VII-IX on current generation consoles or Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask 3D for examples) DO count.
- Remakes (significant changes to visuals and gameplay – think Link's Awakening on the Switch, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, 2019's Resident Evil 2, etc) do NOT count.
- Modern games that have been made in a retro style (think Undertale, Axiom Verge, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon) do NOT count.

Obviously you do not have to play the game on the original hardware it was released on. That would be silly.

Questions, suggestions? Post in here. Good luck!

I have a lot of old games on my backlog. I always wanted to play Super Mario 64, Might & Magic, old Final Fantasy games, Chrono Trigger, Wasteland and lots of other games, so I have pretty hard time deciding which one to start with. I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to play through those old RPGs, so I think I'll go with Super Mario 64.

Put me down for American McGee's Alice, released right in 2000. I'll be playing it from within the sequel's, Madness Returns, special edition, but it's the original nonetheless--with the original resolution and everything. Tiny window.

I love Alice in these games, she's Dante (Devil May Cry) levels of cocky, and she came first! I haven't played either game to completion, so I'm finally going to play and beat the first game.

Welp this is hard... I was always a Playstation guy back in my childhood, so I think I'll go with PS1 games. I'm still thinking the game to play, It'll probably between Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, or... The ridiculously painstaking but fun Digimon World 1. I'll make my final decision tomorrow.

Put me down for Half-Life, that's always been a favourite of mine.
