We don't police when you decide to evolve your Pokémon to a second stage. If you feel close enough to halfway done with your VPP, go ahead and consider it "evolved". It's not something that matters terribly since it's the end result that matters the most. But, your VPP only reaches its final stage and level 100 once you complete the posting criteria. However, it should be stated that a base Pokémon (Pichu) or a middle stage Pokémon (Pikachu) can be your end result too. So by no means are you required to evolve any of your VPPs. Does that make sense?

If there's no item for it in the shop, than we usually go by user discretion. For instance, I'm raising a Snorunt and since things like the Dawn Stone don't exist as an obtainable item, I'm choosing to evolve it into Froslass. Now, this does have the possibility to change in the future, because we always have plans to develop make VPP bigger and better, but for now if you have a Nincada you can choose one either possible evolution.

Ya it's definitely a little strange but for now I'd say just choose which evolution you want. :)
 
Question: Can we raise the same pokemon more than once?

There's some over lapping challenge requirements like:
Misty: Starmie, Politoed, Corsola, Horsea, Togetic & Psyduck
Dawn: Piplup, Buneary, Pachirisu, Mamoswine, Ambipom, Quilava or Togekiss
Ash Johto: Bayleaf, Quilava, Heracross, Totodile, Noctowl & Donphan

does this mean that it's one challenge or the other?

As long as you are eligible to raise the Pokémon (say you fulfill any requirements it may need) then you can raise whatever you like :)

I have raised a separate Togetic and Togekiss for Misty and Dawn.

And I am skipping Quilava for Dawn so I don't have duplicates when I do the Johto Ash Challenge, but there is no reason you can't raise one for each of them!

Follow up question: The duplicated pokemon don't count towards medals or getting legendries right... i.e if I have a Togetic and Togekiss, I couldn't use both of them towards the fairy and flying medals or if I have two Blaziken, I can't use them both as the two fire requirements toward a fire legendary right?

If they're "normal" Pokémon, in other words, not "special" Pokémon such as Unown or pairs etc. which might have different rules (See the Special Pokémon Section in the advanced FAQ), then you can just treat them as any other "normal" Pokémon. Just be sure to mark each one down with it's own usage regarding requirements in your stats.

It would also be a good idea to tell the staff you have more than one of them when you try to use either for requirements, as they might look at your stats and see it marked down as used, when you might mean the unused "twin" :)

If it helps, I used both Togekiss and Togetic to claim my Fairy bronze medal :)
 
Thanks Ash for clearing that up for me. I was a little confused on how it works.

I was also wondering about mega evolution. I currently have a Blastoise raised. Do I need to raise another one and specify that it will mega evolve or can I use my current one providing I purchase the required items - mega ring and corresponding stone?

You will have to raise another one specifically to be a mega :)

Lmao the Houndoom Scooters, the most badass of all modes of transportation. Best be careful when we charge you youngin's on those with our Mega Pinsir canes and Cacturn walkers haha.
