For me it was a matter of levelling up my whole team to be on par with the Gym Leaders, now I can get away with a few levels under. Regardless though, all my team has to be the same level, or near enough. ;;

I'd always start a game with that idea, all Pokemon being near the same level, but soon after few badges one or two Pokemon starts to stand out and ends up being up to well over 20 levels over others'.

I'm kind of OCD in terms of training Pokémon but not to a massive extent - basically I will use a Pokémon until it gains a level and then use each of my other Pokémon in turn until they also gain a level, but I don't base the levels they 'should' be at on anything, I just stick to "don't use the highest level" until they're all equal haha. I usually end up under-levelled but I think that's often a good thing in the Pokémon games, they're too easy otherwise!

I try to keep my Pokemon on the same levels too or at least 3-5 within the same levels. Which also causes me to be underleveled especially because I usually don't grind but like Ozzy said it makes the game harder and thus more enjoyable. c:

Well........ for the most part haha.

I definitely try to keep a team these days unless I'm purposely doing a solorun (in which I pick a Pokemon that isn't too popular like Furret). Otherwise the game just isn't asfun tome???

I normally have no more than three levels between my highest and lowest team member. Exception is here at the time of a Gym battle. Pokémon with type advantage are easily trainable fighting the Gym trainers and then the Gym Leader, but that balances out very quickly after.
But at the Elite Four there's not really a time after to balance out and as the levels get higher with each member, Pokémon having advantage against the first two members have a level advantage compared to the other team members against the third and fourth.

In soloruns I'm like Sora, I did my first one with Swampert, but that thing just destroys everything with ease, no challenge at all. The others, Raticate and Linoone, we're more fun too.

My favourite solo run was with Pachirisu - it was in Pearl (no surprise there) and he was surprisingly strong! With a mixture of confusing the enemy with Sweet Kiss, Discharge for para/damage, chunking 1/2 HP with Super Fang, and Grass Knot to take down Ground-types like Cynthia's Garchomp, Pachirisu ended up being quite the fighter and managed to win the entire game alone. I was so proud of him ♥

I think everyone is busy with exams and stuff right now haha. I've just got over the huge bulk of mine so I'm back for a while but I've got two more coming up in the next two weeks so will still be a little bit scarce til then! Things will pick up again once everyone gets back :D

I'm still here I haven't dropped off the face of the earth again yet!

I loved my Furret during my solo-run. One time when I'm so so glad that I didn't get rid of Defense Curl. I thought I would have trouble during the Elite Four because of Marshal but nope a few defense curls and that Furret took on everything. ♥ Return, Defense Curl, Shadow Claw, aaand Quick Attack aw yis.

In my three soloruns I didn't use any status moves. Raticate and Linoone didn't know any. I don't think they could learn any useful ones, so I went with a good amount of attacking PP, Linoone having a different typed attacks (I think normal, ghost, water and ice), but the only thing Raticate can learn are normal moves and Shadow Ball (and some special moves, but that's not really useful).
Burukari, my Swampert, did know Double Team, but I don't think I have used it even once.

Pretty sure they can learn Thunderwave via TM can't they? :o I can't imagine doing a solo-run without status moves, some of the battles would be so horrific XD

Pretty much. I myself almost never use them. I like to ram into enemies with powerhouse attacks and hope for best. If I am desperate I use stuff like Hypnosis or Confuse ray but usually I avoid those. Especially attacks that raise certain stats. I still dont get those mechanics 100% so yeah, earthquake everything. Period.
I did start using and learning about those moves lately though!

Also yeah Adventure, for instance I managed to beat red in SS thanks to my lvl 99 Arcanine, and I'd say that was pretty overleveled haha

I never bothered much with status moves too. They seem to delay the battle and I prefer to just end it swiftly in my favour. Besides, the AI isn't that smart for such complex tactics xD

We miss a few regulars, Ozzy only just got back, Revise said to be active again, but isn't for some reason and Flare is absent for unknown reasons.

Oh gosh sorry guys! Exams are actually over for me, but I was busy for the past few days because of work, and I used whatever remainder of my free time practicing for a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament. xD Thankfully things are starting to settle down for a while, so I'm gonna start getting active again (mostly at night, but you get the point). And Flare's gone?! Oh noez, I wonder what happened! =c

As for status moves, I like abusing Leech Seed and Toxic. =D

*insert Revise's post above^*

I'm sorry you guys I'm really lazy

Status moves? Sure, I agree with Revise, Leech Seed/Toxic spam. Sometimes. In a solo run? Pfft. I used a Sableye solo run once(the only solo run I'e done so far, kind of a bad choice for no weaknesses. That's really easy >.>) and she knew Fake Out, Faint Attack, ???? And ????. Clearly I paid attention. XD I guess Fake Out could sorta count but not really...
