Sky Sanctuary is a solo instrumental project I discovered a while back which focuses mainly on Progressive Metal, with 8-bit and Electronica thrown in for flavor. The entire album -- Insert Coins -- acts as the soundtrack to a fictional video game, with in-game SFX strewn throughout the structure-less form. (I've heard a couple themes reoccur, though.)
All in all a great album. I'd recommend it to those looking to ease their way into metal, and others that are just looking for some background tunes.
The Offspring – Slim Pickens Does The Right Thing and Rides the Bomb to Hell
"Slim Pickens, well he does the right thing
And he rides the bomb to hell
Yeah, he rides the bomb to hell
Watch the pulse, it quickens after every little sting
If you're gonna go to hell
Drink it up, you might as well
Are you really gonna take it like that?
Riding on the missile with a cowboy hat, and
Ah-ah-ah, well the world is gonna end
So dance around the fire that we once believed in
Ah-ah-ah Wanna tear it down again, now
'Cause there's nothing left for us to bleed
Give it up, the sons of anarchy
So come around and have another round on me
Dance, ****er, dance, let the mother****er burn! hey!"
A pretty freakin' awesome song.
This is coming from somebody who listens to Dead Boys, The Dead Kennedys, Misfits, etc.
Linkin Park & Steve Aoki - A Light That Never Comes
Another massive (temporary I imagine) change in sound for Linkin Park, but as usual I like it. It's a shame it's on an album of remixes rather than a proper LP.
"Photogenic, come and get it
You can have it
Take it all!
Schizophrenic, so sadistic
I don't know
I don't know
Politicians, in condition
Dyin' for a curtain call
Counter culture, full of vultures
Bet you think I'm what!
We're goin' all out
But get 'em up, get 'em up
And if they wanna take a picture
Tell 'em I don't give a ****!
No one needs you after all
That little social scene
It's just a hate machine
No one's here to take your call
And now your self esteem
Ain't what it used to be
You've inspired
The breath of ignorance
The death of innocence
Guess who's back and mad as hell
The nowhere kids that wished you well
Nowhere!
Kids!
Nowhere!
Kids!
Nowhere!"
Not the best from their album Amaryllis, but still really good.
