When we hear the words "Valentine's Day" it can bring out many different emotions from many different people. To some, it's a day of vibrant happiness and splendor. To others, it's a reminder of their loneliness and despair. It may even mean something completely different from these two examples, which is a part of why the holiday interests me.

As for myself, Valentine's Day is a reminder of hope as well as a simple celebration of love. I've been single for my entire life, and that can get me down sometimes. But when I see so much love being expressed on one day, I can't help but feel hope that the one for me is out there. Plus, love is one of my most important values. A day dedicated to this makes me feel so much joy. It reminds me that deep down, we're all loving beings.

So, with the holiday preparations already taking place on PC, how do you feel about it?

A day in which couples decide to show their love for one another while completely forgetting there are another 364 days in the year for such activity.

Cupid as well...the f***? A man in a diaper with wings sellotaped on, following two people around and shooting arrows at one another? Yeah, that sounds like Greek mythology.

when i was in a relationship it was a pretty exciting day bc i'm rly cliche, so i used to love going out on cheesy dates n spending the day w/ my boyfriend. this is my first valentine's day alone in 3yrs but i'm not too stressed abt it - if i don't find a date by then i'll probably just stay in w/ my friends n order pizza. to be honest tho i'm actually kinda fond of valentine's day - i know you can literally do that kinda stuff any other day of the year but there's smth cute abt having an entire day devoted to it.

i mean.. only once i was in a relationship irl during valentines day. i got him a present but he didn't get me anything... however i mean, me and him had only been dating for like 2 weeks but still. oh well.

all other times i was either in a ldr or single. right now, i am single for valentines day. i don't really care though. as overrated as valentines day is, i still think it's cute to do stuff for your significant other on that day, AS WELL AS every other day of the year. i just look forward to the cheap candy the next day most of the time though.

Honestly, this might sound pretty cheesy from me, but: I find it's a day to really give appreciation to your loved ones. Yes, generally you love your... loved ones every day, but I think just doing small things extra here and there for your most cherished friends and family couldn't hurt for one day, right?

Now, I used to not really care for it at all. But even or me at the end of the day, it just feels good showing that extra bit of appreciation. Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way these days, but it still feels special in a way to me.

"extra appreciation" is a good way of putting it. i'll be pitching it that way with my girlfriend then
