Who would you have invited to the Battle Tree?

    So, we know from an official trailer that Trainers from previous games visit the Battle Tree in Alola. I wish that we had a much wider selection, but the ones we got were pretty cool! If you could invite Trainers to Alola, who would you pick?

    [also I thought this thread existed but I searched though I could be blind]

    So, I saw a post on reddit that had some good ideas, such as Brock and Misty because of them being recognizable Gym Leaders, and maybe Barry and Palmer as a father-son duo. Other than these two, I definitely think maybe Tierno from Kalos, as a lot of Pokemon in Alola seem to fit his dancing style, and Zinnia (even though her character is a bit iffy to come there.... buuut... Grimsley was the last dude I would have brought from Unova) and N. Also, Juan, since he wasn't in ORAS but they've sort of acknowledged the Emerald universe through Anabel... sort of. But maybe just as an "up and coming Trainer" and older players would be able to recognize him.
     
    Every characters in each generation i guess. except if some of them need a new design ( just like Grimsley ) and have to agree with Frozocrone! Pokemon world Tournament was really amazing to add everything in it! :o
     
    There's been so many amazing gym leaders over the years and I would love to see them back at the Battle Tree. Apart from that, having every single protagonist (male and female) would have been another great way to commemorate the 20th anniversary.
     
    Every single Gym Leader, Elite Four member and Champion. PWT 2.0 basically.

    More specifically I would like to see Zinnia, Sabrina, Roxanne, Byron, Karen, Janine, LT. Surge, and Valerie.

    Even HG/SS exclusive characters would be nice IMO. Gen 2 got left in the dark. This is why I don't like gen 1 pandering. They forget about all the other gens, just like they forgot porygon existed.

    I would like either anyone, or if I could only pick 2, HG/SS protagonists because nostalgia.

    The most memorable gym in my opinion, and I would love to see his return. I think I just say this because I remember his gym from D/P/P after years and I remember thinking he was super cool as a kid.
     
    I would add N because I was generally curious about him and would really like to know more about him that Nintendo didn't reveal.
     
    Isn't Red technically a gen 2 character though? I think Red/Green were probably meant to represent gen 1 and 2.

    At the very least, I was expecting to see all the previous Champions, but we didn't even get that.

    Yeah I'm very disapointed that we didn't get any Johto love in this game (although we technically got two bosses from the GSC/HGSS games). I really really wanted to see Silver again, as he doesn't get nearly enough exposure. If not him, I would have liked to see Karen, Claire, or Lance, or hell, even Whitney because she's so famous in the community for being one of the harder Gym Leaders in the series. Really, Johto deserves the most love because it's the second furthest region away (tied with Kanto) other than Sinnoh, which will likely be getting remakes very soon. We may never get to go back to Johto ever again or at the very least not for a long while, so it would have been nice to see some faces from those games, many many people grew up with them as well.

    I'm just sad we didn't get all the Rivals and Champions like I thought we would, but other than the lack of Johto love (and Kanto excluding the bromance champions), I'm pretty happy with the selection of characters we got! Wally makes sense since ORAS in particular really pushed him as being a very strong trainer who only keeps getting stronger, I'm glad they at least acknowledged Emerald and the Battle Frontier by bringing Anabel back (even if the lore is weird), of course we had to have best champ Cynthia back although I wish they brought another person with her since not many Sinnoh characters get exposure other than her, but since DP remakes are likely coming it doesn't bother me too much.
    I also LOVE the 5th gen love in this game. Colress and mother flipping Grimsley??? I'm glad they gave some love to underrated characters, and their redesigns are really great too. Seeing Dexio and Sina come back older was pretty neat, as I didn't really care for them in XY (but tbh I didn't care for almost anyone in XY), other than them for Kalos I'd probably have liked to see Siebold, Diantha (she deserves a challenging battle, at least) or Lysandre if he wasn't dead.
     
    All of the main protagonists of different Pokémon Generations.
    Would like to see how they battle coz it's like battling your previous
    "selfs".
     
    I would invite Silver I miss his delinquent ways and character Would love if i had a Chance to fight him once again.

    What's up with people calling Red a "gen 2 character" now? Not just here but other places too, I've noticed. Red is very clearly the gen 1 protagonist. Just because he was in gen 2 as well doesn't make him any less of a gen 1 character, just like Cynthia being in gen 5 and 7 doesn't make her less of a gen 4 character. Even in SM, Red's shirt says 96 for gen 1's release year, not 99 for gen 2's. To think of Red as a gen 2 character... That's stretching it. Longer than a Dragonair. And I personally feel it doesn't really give the actual gen 2 characters enough credit when they themselves are good enough on their own.

    There are no gen 2 characters in the Battle Tree and I think that's a huge shame. Truthfully I think there should have been a lot more characters than we got, but if we absolutely had to stick with a smaller number, at least throw in one more actual gen 2 character. I wouldn't want anyone we got to be replaced, but one more character from gen 2 would have at least rounded it out nicely, I think.
     
    Gen 2 doesn't have much to offer in the way of unique characters. Lance is a Kanto character, two out of four Elite 4 characters are Kanto characters, meaning the only original options are Will and Karen, and what they do is pretty much covered by Grimsley, Faba and Dexio. (as type specialists) As for Silver, we already had Wally and Blue in as former rivals. Eusine or maybe Jasmine would have been my choice for Johto rep.

    What's wrong with adding another Rival? Silver would have been great for the Battle Tree, to see his growth as a trainer even more. Otherwise we also have iconic gym leaders like Whitney and Claire, or we could use Eusine of course. Hell, I would have been happy with Lance because to me he represents both Gen 1 and 2 (Gen 2 more so though).
