Why isn't Uxie a Fairy Type?!

Rant: I'M STILL UPSET THAT UXIE ISN'T A FAIRY TYPE. WHO MADE THIS DECISION ANYWAY? IT'S A LITERAL PIXIE.

The topic: what Pokemon do you think should have been made Fairy types, but weren't? And what Pokemon do you think shouldn't be Fairy types?

They really ballsed up the Fairy type; it feels so shoehorned in at the moment. How Pokemon like Snubbull and Mawile qualify when Pokemon like Cresselia and Bellossom don't is baffling.

With the exception of those two, who really don't fit the theme, and Gardevoir, because that was obviously given the dual-typing for its popularity in the fandom rather than on any visual merit, I'm fairly happy with the choices they made for fairy types, although I think they left a lot out. Cresselia and Bellossom are my two biggest pet peeves - the former especially - but I'm also surprised they left out the likes of Skitty, Phione/Manaphy, the pixie trio, etc.

Uxie and Cresselia should definitely be fairy types, and Cottonee / Whimsicott / Snubbull / Granbull have no business holding a place amongst the fairies. I also hope Game Freak burns the Pixie Plate next generation, because Arceus is no fairy and Fairyceus is horrible in Ubers anyway.

Because not many people see them to be fairies? I didn't even know the lake trio were faries in the first place. Maybe they would get fairy megas soon, but I think that would be unlikely.

I think the distribution to the mons who got the new type is fair IMO. So yeah. And there aren't any other mons who I feel should be fairys either as the creators pretty much did everything tbh.

The only reason Snubbull is a Fairy type is because its Pokedex entry calls it the Fairy Pokemon. I originally said this in th OP that Snubbull shouldn't be a Fairy, but then I looked up the Pokemon myself and that came up.

I don't think this is true at all. Maybe it may be for you, but I always saw the Lake Trio to be Pixies, which is another type of fairy, so.

According to Bulbapedia, Snubbull is based off a creature in Celtic mythology called Cù Sìth whose name literally translates to "dog fairy". Kinda makes sense now when you look at it this way.

I agree, I don't think it'll happen. They're probably three of the least popular/most overlooked Pokemon in the game. Making them fairies could have changed that.

All legendary and mythical remained intact on their types, silly Pala. :P

I think that decision is made to avoid the fandom (purist, or w/e terms you call them) from raging. Look at Celebi, she is obviously the Tinkerbell of Pokemon, yet she retained her original typing.

So yeah, you can only wish for an alternative form (Mega or w/e their forms will be).

That doesn't mean I'm happy with them intact, I'm actually furious with Celebi remaining Psychic.

Mismagius! It makes sense for her to be one, being a witch and all.

I really don't like the fairy concept at all. I wish they never had it. I also don't understand why there is a fairy type breeding group. And Pikachu is (or was?) in that breeding group. Pokemon, in my opinion, just went down hill after gen. 4. It is weird how some Pokemon didn't get a type change also.

Thinking about this question there was a Pokemon that made me a but perplexed as to why they got the fairy typing and that is Azumarill and its pre-evos. I really just don't see the fairy in these Pokemon and feel like it was just a way to make them relevant in-game and competitively.

If someone who has more knowledge on this would care to explain why they think Azumarill and co. got the additional typing, I'm all ears

Here's a list of Pokémon I wish would be fairies:

Spoiler:

And a list of Pokémon I feel shouldn't have been fairies (I like how they got buffed, but it's strange):

Out of curiosity, why do you think Alomomola should be fairy?

What I don't like about the Fairy-type is how ill-defined and redundant it is from a lore standpoint. A lot of its themes were previously covered by the Psychic-type and Ghost-types. (The cosmic or magical) And also, unlike a Dragon, a Fairy is much less clearly defined. You could really argue that anything that is cute, small, feminine, or pink could be a "fairy." But anything that is magical could also easily fit under Psychic/Ghost-types as I previously said. (Look at Delphox and Mismagius) This type was just invented solely for gameplay purposes and honestly is redundant and has little place in the lore for me. So what does and doesn't make sense as a Fairy is really difficult to say because of its criteria fitting in with other types and because fairies being pretty much anything in mythology too.

I do think that the pixie trio would make more sense than others as fairies, but they may not have been made into such for gameplay purposes/balancing as well. Since that's what this typing seems to be all about.

I am actually pretty happy with the current roster of fairies. They don't bother me at all. I do think it's a bit strange that pokemon who literally have "pixie", "elf" and "spirit" as components of their names didn't get the type, but really the choices for fairies aren't that bad at all and honestly most of the people who complain just want something to complain about. There is far more confusing things in pokemon than the roster of fairy pokemon.
