would you be interested in more main series games without gyms?

if game freak can make it work somehow, then sure! the main series games don't have to use gyms at all, and i think trials in sm/usum were something of an interesting implementation if only because of the totem pokemon aspect. fighting a superpowered version of a specific pokemon provided a different sort of challenge than simply fighting the trainers themselves with x amount of pokemon.

i want game freak to go one step further in the future, though. i'm not sure what a completely gym-less pokemon game would be like, but i think it would be interesting to see something that doesn't resemble gyms at all in the slightest but still retains that "mini-boss"-esque feel.

i have no problems with gyms but i'm always into games where they mix it up! i also liked trials because they were in a natural environment which let them do environmental puzzles that wouldnt make much sense in gyms (though some gyms like to defy physics on how many things they can fit on the inside anyways)

Allow me to be a Pokémon coordinator and I'll be overcome with joy.

I always thought it would be cool to have a complete spin-off title where instead of the typical "You're a trainer and you battle the gyms and become the region's new leader" plot, you start out as a fledgling contest coordinator (kind of like Dawn and Serena in the anime) and instead of challenging gyms, you go from town to town and challenge all the contest halls, and the goal of the game would be to become the region's new contest champion. Instead of trainers challenging you to battles along the roads, other coordinators will challenge you to dance-offs or move performance contests with your Pokémon! Like how each gym focuses on a "type", each contest hall would focus on a specific attribute, like "coolness" or "cuteness", and you would have to choose your strategies based on that. A game like that would also give players a chance to play a Pokémon game with their favorite Pokémon, rather than just having to use the strong ones to win battles. I'm not sure how many players would appreciate a Pokémon game without violence or battling, but I always thought that the contests in the main series games deserved to be more than just an optional mini-game within the main game, especially with how complex R/S/E/OR/AS's talent round and the acting round of D/P/Ps were.

Yes, I would. It'd honestly be nice if we had more Pokemon games without Gyms in them. As long as it's different enough from Island Trials, I'm down. Not that Island Trials are bad or anything, they weren't, but I wouldn't want that a second time, you know? So, yeah, another region with a different culture other than Gym Battles would be cool. I'd play it.

That was the reason why I didn't enjoy the seventh generation as much as I wanted to...because the Island trials didn't click for me and missed having gyms. Maybe that's the oldie in me, though. I'd give kudos for the series to take a different direction, though...but I'd stick with gyms.
