Would you consider yourself a ribbon collector?

My Reshiram that I caught in Pokémon Omega Ruby is my pride and joy, truth be told, no pun intended. I don't even consider myself a shiny hunter, but it took me six months to encounter my shiny Reshiram with a good nature, which was Mild. Of course, this wouldn't have been as good as Timid or Modest, but hey, it was shiny, and I couldn't risk not catching just to get a Nature that I probably would never get while shiny. This was before nature mints existed too. After I finally caught it, I made sure it that it obtained almost every possible ribbon it could in Omega Ruby before transferring it to Pokémon Sword, just to signify that it is my favorite legendary. I made sure that it won every possible contest ribbon and even gave it several of those ribbons that you could get for free on certain days such as the Gorgeous, Royal, Smile, and Relax ribbons. Because I also won the Battle Tower ribbon and the Master Rank ribbon in ranked battles, I accomplished everything I needed to accomplish with my Reshiram so far. Also, the ribbons ensure that my Reshiram has great titles whenever I send it out for battle. What about you? Are you a ribbon collector, or do you not really care for ribbons?

I've alternated between caring greatly, and not at all. That said, the last time I played Gen IV I was obsessed!

My Emerald team - including my first ever wild-caught Feebas!!!! - had won Master Rank in the Hoenn contests of their specialism (so Smart for Gardevoir, Beauty for Milotic etc.). They also had Artist, Effort and League Champion ribbons. I then conquered all contests in Gen IV up to Master Rank and the following: Ability, Great Ability, Alert, Shock, Downcast, Careless, Relax, Snooze, Smile, Gorgeous, Royal, Gorgeous Royal, Footprint, and Legend!

For my Platinum and HGSS teams, plus various extras that I had (like my teams) EV-trained and in some cases bred (including a shiny Bidoof that I refuse to evolve - it got a KO against Red!) and every legendary available in Platinum I got every ribbon except the contest ones. I don't think I'll ever grind that much money again though - I think I took about the GDP of Ireland off the rich people outside Pokémon Mansion!

I have done master rank contests and did try to collect as many ribbons as possible as a kid. But, nowadays, Ribbons are useless and they're barely a thing anymore. Maybe I'd care more if they actually appeared on the Pokemon sprite/model or there was an option to display the ribbons on them since the older games mentioned you put them on the Pokemon.

Well, the primary purpose that they serve these days is to give your Pokémon a title when you bring them out for battle. For example, if you select the Gorgeous ribbon, it would say "Reshiram the Gorgeous" when sent out the PokéBall, which I find really cute.

Yes, I loved ribbons and contests, in general. I am quite sad this isn't a thing in pokemon games anymore. While I agree that mini-games were quite boring, repetitive and easy, I think it could have been a great thing to add anyway or even develop it. It's weird, especially because it had quite a significant role in the anime.
Anyway, back on pokemon Diamond, I collected a lot of ribbons with my Empoleon I got around 15 ribbons. The contests part in the game is really repetitive and sometimes boring, but it's a great thing to do, even slowly, maybe even in the post-game. I liked collecting ribbons and, despite everything, I even loved contests.

I like ribbons, but outside of Hoenn contests I've never really bothered with them.
They're often locked behind stuff I don't feel like doing so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    ^ Pretty much this.
I was once fairly into the Hoenn contests but otherwise have never cared much about ribbons to the point that the effort and friendship ribbons in SWSH are the only ones I've ever even known where to get and that was just because I happened to stumble on them while exploring.

Not at all. Are they even a thing in Switch games? I know I got some in ORAS, while I was 100% them, but I couldn't care less about them.

Yes, they are still thing in every Switch game. In Sword and Shield, you get the Best Friends and Effort ribbons from a little boy in Hammerlocke. You get the Galar Champion ribbon after winning the Pokémon League tournament. You get the Tower Master ribbon after defeating Leon in the Battle Tower, and you get the Master Rank ribbon after defeating a player in online Ranked Battles in the Master Rank Tier. The rest of the ribbons are given to event Pokémon automatically. In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you get ribbons from the same place you get them in the original games.

Is it necessary to complete the XD or Coliseum Ribbons for Gen 3 Pokémon, which includes all Gen 1-3 Pokémon that are available in LeafGreen/Fire Red and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, or is it up to whomever? Because getting them to rn is very difficult.

I didn't even know that ribbons were a thing in XD or Coliseum. Then again, I never played those games yet.
