★☆ The Incredibly Wandering Thread ☆★ [v5.0]

I immediately joined off-topic and kept bumping threads from 2003.

...I have no idea what I was thinking at the time. But I listened when a moderator told me to stop.

let's just say that my journey as a new user was filled with embarrassments, one after another. a lot of which was my own doing, but a lot of which wasn't. pc back then was very cliqueish so it wasn't great. :c

i'm glad that era is done and over with.

I was just very awkward and stuck mostly to Pokemon Trivia. The forum culture was very different from what I was used to at the time coming from a very small community.

I've gotten used to most things on here over the years. The awkwardness still comes through every now and then, though.

I remember making a thread in here and Sheep being one of the first, if not the first to answer. I kind of regret not continuing that conversation. Maybe I would have had an easier time. The mistakes you make when your brain is scattered all over the place.
But hey: I was running a cool Zangulus avatar, a guy from the Slayers series so I had at least some sort of semblance of taste. xD

i think i stuck to off-topic at first because that's where all the Cool PC People where hanging out, and then eventually i kind of just branched out to multiple areas around the forum over the years. nowadays though i mostly stick to a few forums here and there as to not spread myself too thin.

I think I joined here because I wanted to have a community with the same interest I think? Then I started to frequent Trivia Games because it's fun, and then I was tempted to join a Roleplay because it looked fun. And here I am

I wanted to learn about competitive battling! Did, had fun, stayed for the userbase and the art!

My story is actually a lot longer than that, but I do t feel like hashing all of it out right now. Maybe later this year.. May is my 10th anniversary after all! (´▽`ʃƪ)♡

always been curious to what you mean by cliquish. Have noticed you mention it a couple other times.

I'm relatively newer (didn't get on here until late 2017). Even then there were certain topics I was avoiding, since I didn't want to intrude.

you can imagine pc of the mid-late 2000s as your stereotypical high school drama in pretty much almost every way, and not always in a good way, either. back then it was more or less about how popular you were than anything else and the culture then promoted that.

But...but...isn't it still like that? D=
I feel like today's internet is 20x that same high school drama spirit but on a much larger scale. ><

Altho I guess one could say foruns are now being an exception because it's no longer on the trend *cof* reddit *cof* so most people here just like to chill =)

Did feel like that a lot back in 2013 when I joined... that or I probably felt like the biggest outsider ever not knowing what the hell I was doing

still dont know that now but I guess im a bit more popular... or infamous either works

if you're referring to the internet in a broader sense, then probably. i don't really delve into much social media so i'm fortunate to stay out of the dramatics of that.

if you're referring to PC, then not really. this community is way more chill than it was a decade or so ago.

and yes @ your last statement, although unfortunately forums are more or less a dying breed in favour of reddit/twitter/facebook. really sad that the internet is being condensed into roughly three websites.

not if i have anything to say about it

those places have their fun parts (well, not facebook unless i really enjoy people i knew in high school trying to get me hooked on pyramid schemes) but they're not communities, they're content feeds. the fact that those have largely replaced actual communities makes me v bored with the internet.

and see, that's the thing! the internet as it currently stands is boring. i only really get my internet enjoyment from pc. i scroll through twitter (probably more often than i should), but it's just... not fulfilling to me whatsoever. nevermind the fact that i don't exactly tweet often, anyway.

i like being in actual communities and having chill people to talk to that share similar interests to me so we can have fun conversations. unfortunately, social media currently does none of that for me.

This. I like participating and being a part of a community, not just being on the receiving end of a content feed. I think it's important to stay a part of groups that are, more or less, living organisms. A constant stream of information will never not be available; but communities like this one need nurturing and that's what I love so much about it.

PC so far is the only place very we'll maintained, active that I can tell so far, friendly, welcoming even safe. I've been on so many fourms of fandoms as well tried the social media phase like society still dose today over the years. Hands down PC is gold and pure and not like anything I've seen my whole life. I've been to many things since I was 15 years old online, this is the only place I trust as well like even feel safe on too. I can read people extremely well from sadly being hurt by so many people countless times over the years. I know I will contribute and do my very best to keep PC safe and good no matter what while I'm a member here.
