#13: Little Legendaries

Which are your favorites of the small legendary Pokemon?

I might be boring but I prefer Mew and Celebi, the oldies :3

Celebi is about time travel, which is the coolest thing there is. Also, I like its typing with Grass/Psychic, making it a nature spirit in the forests of Johto. It really looks like and feels like a Johto pokémon. Besides, it's not exactly ugly, it's sort of alien-y cute.

Mew was incredibly cute in the movies, more so than the later "little legendaries" imo. And I really liked its theme in the first pokémon movie. There's also something basic about it's relatively simple design and big eyes that appeals to me. Before legendaries had to have spikes and loads of colors or no legs or

Victini.

I mainly blame the movie because Victini in the movie was adorable in my opinion. But in general I've always just loved its design and it's actually one of the few things I am still happy for when it comes to the fifth generation (another being Litwick). I'm a big fan of it's signature move V-Create as well.

And while it's not on the list, since I've always considered it a mini-legendary, Shaymin. Always loved land shaymin and ever since I got a bit shymin plush from an amusement park I've loved that version as well.

Jirachi. I love its typing (even though it's got more weaknesses now due to the Steel nerf), design, shiny coloration, and how it was in the anime. I've always been more fond of it than any of the other listed ones, though Mew's a close second.

Of the non-listed ones, Shaymin. I love the little hedgehog to death and I love its Sky Forme. Plus it's so adorable in the anime too, hnnnngh ;-;

Silly, silly me. I had both Shaymin and Meloetta in my text file when preparing this week's poll, so I have no idea how I missed them. After putting together all these polls for the Favorite Pokemon Tournament and now the POTW, I'm bound to make a small mistake here or there, so thanks to everyone that caught it!

I've added two votes for Shaymin in the poll, but if anyone else wanted to vote for one of those two but couldn't before, just let me know.

I voted Jirachi, Victini, Meloetta and Manaphy because I like their designs but my real true fave of the bunch is Jirachi because the little guy saved my life in a Metronome Randbat on PC's battle server recently. I thought I was going to lose but oh man I got pretty lucky with almost every move it generated allowing me to destroy a lot of my foe's remaining Pokemon.

Outside of that, Jirachi's still amazing thanks to its secondary effect abuse through Serene Grace, such as the infamous Para-Flinch strategy involving its Iron Head and paralyzing the opponent so they can feel the pain. Manaphy's also pretty interesting given its egg is very different from other Pokemon and of course it's a Water-type, my fave type. Victini and Meloetta also had really cute personalities in the anime.

Celebi....

Because I really liked Celebi's design. And it's involvement in 4ever. The movie was bad but... Voice of the Forest? Kinda cool imo. I was a bit sad it didn't get any new forme or something of that sort, but it'll do. Mostly because of the design, though.

I voted for Victini because it's among my favourite Fire and Psychic types and it has a really cute appearance. I love its eyes and colour scheme, and I also love its typing and movepool. It's a really versatile and strong Pokemon, both in game and in competitive play.

If anyone's been on the Battle Server for a long time, they would know about how much I loved Choice Scarf Victini. It's a little monster. On top of battle strength, I really liked Victini's role in M14, and how it saved Ash from dying. It was a really heroic thing in my opinion, even costing its own life seemingly. Its personality in the movie was fitting of it: adorable, curious and strong.

I only voted Victini because the other small legendary Pokemon aren't really to my liking. The rest don't have that charm that Victini has that makes them likable to me.

I voted for Jirachi, though I'm not a big fan of it. I guess it started on 3rd grade, wherein I thought Jirachi was the second strongest Pokemon, tied to Deoxys (I used to think the higher the dex number, the powerful the Pokemon - and I never knew about Sinnoh yet.) He used to be my ultra favorite Pokemon, and I'd even argue with my classmates as to who loved Jirachi the most. xD Still, I find him pretty useful and cute: the movie featuring him was one of my favorites.

Honestly though, I love Shaymin. Sky Shaymin, specifically, but it isn't little and I guess this poll is about the little legendaries so ... :P There's no real backstory to it. I just like Shaymin because of the looks though I haven't used it much yet to judge how it acts on battle. And I did like the movie with her too!

Really the only little legendary I'm a diehard fan of is Uxie but I understand it was in the trio poll so wouldn't count in this one :) I voted for Mew because that cry is absolutely adorable, and it was hard not to like Mew in the movie :) I also quite like Victini again for movie reasons and the concept of Meloetta appeals to me very much :)

I'll go with Jirachi. Competitively, it's simply great; it has Serene Grace, which you could use to take advantage of the effect of Iron Head move that it learns and make opponent constantly flinch, preventing them from landing any hits on you. Plus, if you manage to paralyze your foe with Thunder Wave and whatnot, chances of them striking would be dropped to nearly zero. Amazing, isn't it? =)

In terms of looks, I love Mew. It's small, pink, cuddly, has a cute-looking face; to put it together, this Pokémon has everything that, in my opinion, would define "adorable." I mean, really; if you ran into such an animal in real life, wouldn't you feel like grabbing onto it, hug it tight, and never let go? I know I would, haha.

Few of my other favorites are Victini, Celebi, and Shaymin, but for now, I'm limiting myself to only these two.

I went with Jirachi and Shaymin. Something about Jirachi's design and theme really appeals to me. The "wish upon a star" thing it has going on is sweet and is very fitting for a small legendary. Also, although I have no experience, I love its trolly para-flinching capability in the competitive scene. >:) And oh yeah, the sixth movie, in which Jirachi starred, is probably my favorite.

As for Shaymin, it's mostly Skymin that I like. I love the stylish flower scarf thing and the spunky expression it has. In-game, I actually have some experience with land Shaymin, thanks to the Favorite Challenge III. :) It did amazingly well, and didn't faint at all until I sacrificed it for some reason in the battle against Ghetsis. (I'm grateful for it.) I also kind of like its voice in the eleventh movie, though my only exposure to that is in the (fantastic) ending song, "ONE" by Crystal Kay.

Meloetta, of course, with victini in a close second.
Let's face it, if they all fought, one of these two would win, and they're super kawaii uguu.

I go for Mew because it is so cute and that it can pack a powerful punch if you're not careful.
Obviously Victini because fire rules all and it was playful in the movie.
Lastly I pick Shaymin because it's sky form is awesome along with seed flare.

I vote celebi. One of my siblings was obsessed with it for YEARS. I used to hate it at first, but when you have seen the movie a hundred times (which I must say is a good movie) and have a gigantic stuffed one on the bed in the room to your left... it can grow on ya.

I quite like Meloetta, and it's really one of the only ones I use in battle. It's ability to transform with Relic Song is prettty interesting, and I like the whole musical design.

My favourite is Victini because it's the cutest and has an incredibly powerful V-create. It can also use Bolt Strike and Brick Break to cover its weaknesses.

Also, Jirachi is pretty bad right now. It gained weaknesses to Knock Off, Pursuit, Foul Play and Shadow Ball. ParaFlinch is no longer that good because Electric-types can't be paralyzed. The weather nerf also had an impact on it, as it can no longer use SubCM because rain only lasts for 5 turns. However, Jirachi has a niche: it completely stops Baton Pass teams. Here's how. Choice Specs Doom Desire is a nightmare for BP.

I'm going to go with Shaymin. I think it's the easily the most adorable. I really only like it's land form though. Its sky form was ruined for me when I saw some Pokemon movie with Shaymin in it and it acted like a lil ♥♥♥♥♥.

Aside from Manaphy, it's nice to see there was a fairly even number of votes for each Pokemon. Personally, I went with Mew, Celebi and Jirachi. I've always loved the fact that Mew can learn every TM/HM in existence, and the fact that Celebi can time travel always interested me. As for Jirachi, I've always liked Steel type Pokemon, and Doom Desire is easily one of the coolest sounding attacks to date.
