Chit-Chat: a good ol' fashioned DCC!

It once took us 2 hours to leave Halifax. That's how bad it is. The infrastructure is terrible.

I just hate having to travel in and out, so I'd rather just live there.

I was pretty young when I lived in the Halifax area but one of the distinct memories I do have is that every single summer they ripped up Bedford Highway to do roadwork or pipe repairs or whatever instead of just... doing it all at once so they only inconvenienced people the one time. So I am not surprised to hear the infrastructure for getting around still sucks lmao.

They're making this highway from Burnside into Bedford and it's a MESS. They absolutely fucked up the area and I work near there so it's a headache.
Complete labyrinth of pylons.

I've been filling out my common application over the past few days, and it honestly feels a bit surreal and nerve wracking. I've spent a lot of time over the past 4 years thinking about what I should do to increase my chances of getting into a good school and fantasizing about how great it's going to be. But something about actually going through the process makes it feel a lot closer and more "real" then before, college isn't just something that's going to happen "in a while" or "later"; it's somewhere I'm actually physically going to be within a year or so. I've prepared the best I can, but I can tell a whole new era of my life is rapidly speeding towards me, and that for better and worse, things are going to be a lot different circa September 2025 compared to now.

I wish you the best of luck with finding a good place to study, and with whatever else comes after it!

Ironically, I'm visiting the next town over from where I attended college many years ago. I got to see the town and a bit of the campus and holy crap they've put up a lot of new buildings since I've been gone.

The high-rise residence halls where I worked as a Resident Assistant during my senior year are closed and under heavy renovation too.

All in all, it's kind of a surreal experience returning there - the old dive bar I stopped at for lunch hasn't changed much at all in the past couple decades though, lol The food there's still good, that's what's important.

I've been fighting the WORST stomach flu of my life since last week. It's insane.
Severe cramps, nausea, going to the toilet every 5 mins... A nightmare
I hope you get better soon, that sounds horrible.

So sorry! Drink peppermint tea, oatmeal, electrolytes -- and you should be okay. That sounds awful. :(

I'm just wondering why it's lasting so long. Usually it's like a day tops.
I really have no immune system anymore.

Corrin, I would get yourself checked out if I were you! I know it sucks. :(

I used to get better three days after catching something. Of course, that was when I was like...in my teens and 20s. Now every time I catch one germ or stretch one muscle, my body goes haywire.

I went in and they did nothing. Said it's just a virus and I'll get over it.
It's been over a week...
get a second or possibly third opinion after another day or two if it's still not gone. i had a very bad sinus infection before covid and it took me three different visits to a walk-in clinic (was out of town when it happened) over the span of a week before i was finally on medication to kill the infection

Oh man that sounds like so many places here in Edmonton. They've got a ton of roads ripped up for an LRT expansion from downtown to the west end of the city, and the main roadway that goes through the north end of the city is in the middle of a freeway coversion project and it's just such a disaster trying to get through there. And when the current LRT lines get expanded to the north and northwest, it's going to affect that road too so it's just one hot mess right after another ugh.

I'd definitely get a second opinion if you can. I've been dealing with wicked congestion and I really need to get it checked again. It's starting to affect my sleep because I keep waking up every two hours to blow my nose so I can breathe, and that's even when taking nighttime decongestants.

I contacted my family doctor so I can ask for a referral to a specialist.
Not being able to eat most things is just tiresome.
