It's really interesting, actually. One of the craziest things of the pokemon lore is that in pokemon d/p/pt in Cyrus' PC it's basically written that if a legendary pokemon like Dialga or Palkia, Giratina, ecc. is caught with a pokeball, it looses its powers. That's basically why Cyrus uses the red chain to control Dialga/Palkia instead of using a masterball. I find it really interesting, even if I can get that lore-wise it can't make much sense because if you caught Dialga, basically the time would be erased. I really love this stuff tbh lol.
If we're being lore-friendly, we shouldn't be able to catch legendary Pokémons (cause they are basically gods, you know).
