Game Freak must really have come to hate Talonflame or something, giving a Water type and then a Grass type an anti-priority ability, as well as a Rock type with a priority Rock attack lol
Or they must have noticed so many fans complaining about Talonflame. Although I think Mega Blaziken, Mega Lucario, and Landorus could use nerfs too.

  • Those two quotes are legit then, since I don't check the official website too much so I'm often kinda not catching up with most new things aside from the news here.

RIP Talonflame usage once Smogon do their work on analyzing it.

  • I think it's said like the Russian word for Queen. Which is likely the inspiration for the name.

I wonder if Silvally is even the final. I'm getting a bronze, silver vibe from Null and Silvally so I wonder if a golden might exist. Maybe Type: Null will be a pseudo not only in it's lore.

It is possible. I was also starting to think this when I was watching the trailer, but Silvally is already taller than 7'. That would be one huge pokemon.

It is said to rival a threat and a myth, so that make me believe that Type: Null may indeed be a pseudo. It went the opposite way for Jangmo-o's line. I am starting to think it isn't because the last evo is only about 5'

  • Well, no CoroCoro exclusive this time around because they all got shown in this.

First, Jangmo-o evolutions Hakamo-o and Kommo-o. Interesting that Kommo-o gets a signature move because I don't think pseudo-legends (or at least it's assumed to be) never had a true signature move. 4x weakness to Fairy is the main downside, but Soundproof could give it decent competitive use if it's able to block Pixilated Hyper Voices.

Now Silvally... It does retain pretty much the default typing of Type: Null and the new RKS System ability which is pretty much a clone of Arceus' Multitype seems to fit with theories that it was created to try and be a clone of Arceus. Maybe Arceus is pronounced "ar-kee-us" like I never expected.

Cutiefly's evolution that we saw for a split moment in a Japanese trailer is finally revealed! And I definitely like the name Ribombee as well, because it's so adorable. The official site says it is only 0'08" tall, which is pretty much the same size as Diglett. Tiny!

Bounsweet evolutions look adorable as well. Steenee is cute with not much new to it, but then we have Tsareena with the Queenly Majesty ability, which is pretty much exactly like Bruxish's Dazzling ability - because it blocks priority moves like Dazzling does. Guess that makes me preferably want an Oblivious Bounsweet then, since it eventually becomes Queenly Majesty. But I guess this confirms Bounsweet will be the Grass-type that earned a team slot for me here.

Alolan Grimer... and Muk! I actually like how wild Alolan Muk looks, and nice we finally get confirmation of their abilities. Gluttony feels like it doesn't make sense but Poison Touch could be good with running a non-Poison physical attack. At least Muk's design makes up for the initial lacklusterless of Grimer's. Apparently their adaption was caused by eating garbage based on what I read.

Olivia looks very cool, and it's nice we finally got Ilima's type specialty. Normal was not what I was expecting, but then again, she's the first Trial Captain so I guess they wanted her to be very basic.

  • Article is updated with a bunch of info from the website, and official art. Check it out, point out stuff I missed, etc!

ddrox13 also raised that Mega Kangaskhan has been nerfed a bit with Parental Bond's second attack doing less damage.

  • Speaking of those Kahunas, I hope I'm not the only one who can't actually differentiate if Ilima is actually a boy or a girl. She, or he just became another Bugsy to me to an extent. ._.

  • Alolan Muk = 9/10 - I hate ugly pokemon, including our original Muk, so my standards were set pretty low. The colorful animation really does a wonder on my overall impressions of Muk. A slime constructed out of colorful tropical toxins ? Yes please.

Ribombee = 7.5/10 - I loved cutiefly and planned to have it on my team, but I am a bit underwelmed by the evolution to be honest. I really hope this evolves, if not, it really would fall short of its potential. That said, it is cute and all. *shrugs shoulders*

Jaranga and Jararango = 7/10. I actually am a bit on the fence about this one. I like the design, it's just a bit too cluttered with detail that the eye does not know where to go. I like the spirit of the concept they were going for though.

Olivia = 10/10 - She's so beautiful and confident with her crystal accessories. She ranks amongst Mallow, Lillie, and Lusamine...this game is just overloaded with beauty!

Ilima = 10/10 - I like Ilima's androgenous appearance. It's like the design took the idea that normal types are sort of "neutral" to most type match ups and made the character appear gender-neutral.

Steenee and Tsareena = 10/10 - First off, I love the names. Mangosteen + Queenie. Tsar + Mangosteen + Ballerina. I am SO glad we did not get that grass/fire pepper pokemon that many fake leaks seemed to push. I love that she is a physical attacker, almost the counterpart to Lilligant. And, I really like its ability "queenly majesty". The droopy leaf hair, purple crown, frilled collar, voluminous fruit dress, pretty eyes, and long stem-like legs culminate into quite the stunner! Well, I could stress over choosing Lurantis and Tsareena, but I will just select both :)

Overall, based on the new trainers and Steenee/Tsareena in particular, I was not let down by the news.

I figured a nerf to Mega Kangaskhan was imminent. Also this generation is so going to have an anti-Talonflame metagame with not one but two Pokemon having priority-immune abilities and Midday Lycanroc having Accelerock to destroy Talonflame quickly as well.

  • I love all of them, especially Hakamo-o, Silvally, Steenee, Ribombee, and Alolan Muk!

I have way too much to talk about them, so I'll just end with that.

  • The only new Pokémon we haven't seen yet that were shown from this trailer were Bountsweet's evolutions, who are already increasing the list of this gen's Gardevoir, and Rainbow Alolan Muk, which looks much better than Alolan Grimer.

  • My friend showed me the new trailer this afternoon.
The Alolan Grimer looks like it's eaten too much macaroni and cheese. And the technicolour Muk just looks weird.
On the other hand, Ribombee looks so cute, and I'm also loving the designs of Steenee and Tsareena (I'm a sucker for feminine humanoid Pokemon, except Jynx, of course)

  • I really like all of the evolutions and will definitely be having a Bounsweet on my team! Silvally is really cool and I kinda like it's ability as it gives it something special (I also feel that Type:Null will be a gift Pokemon). The trial leaders look pretty good too and I can't wait to battle them!

  • Alolan Muk - I'll admit, it looks completely different to how I was imagining it to look based of Alolan Grimer. It's not the worst.

Ribombee - Not too bothered about this one which is pretty much how I feel about Cutiefly. The whole evolutionary line (so far) just doesn't appeal to me.

Silvally - Much of an improvement on Type: Null for me. I like how RKS sounds exactly like Arceus and I'm pretty sure that's intentional given all the connections it has to Arceus. 8)

Hakamo-o and Kommo-o - Slightly disappointed with these two but I think the concept is pretty cool. Dragon/Fighting is a nice combination to have.

Steenee and Tsareena - The best saved until last for me. Originally, I was quite impressed by Bounsweet, but now it has just gone waaaay up in my estimation. Both of these stages are gorgeous and I'm really considering adding Bounsweet to my team despite already having a Grass-type member planned for it!

  • Since Olivia is a Rock type specialist, any one think that her Tapu will be Rock type?

Maybe the Tapus will be Rock, Water, Electric, and Grass, a homage to the first four (Kanto) Gyms.

  • When Jangmo-o's evolutions and Sivally were first introduced from the Coro Coro leaks, I thought all of them are pretty cool. Many folks already mentioned the Arceus reference to Sivally, but am interested how it'll hold on its own.

Bounsweet's evolutions I think are pretty cute while Ribombee I feel somewhat indfferent similar to how I feel about Ledian lol. Like several others, don't care much for Aloan Grimer but like the twist with Aloan Muk.

Olivia I'm really digging her design while Ilima not as excited but they look decent.

Apparently they are a boy, as the official site says his school on it. I was very surprised as well by that.

  • With that clarified, now I can safely assume that Ilima is a he. That pink hair got me though at first glance.

  • Okay guys, something interesting to share.

I was reading something on Tumblr and apparently the feminine-looking appearance of the Bounsweet line is based on the fact that the mangosteen is known as the "Queen Of Fruits" which also explains Tsareena's queen-based theme and the Queenly Majesty ability.

Maybe this means the Bounsweet line might be female-only (similar to Lilligant) or at least have a higher chance of being female?
