Earth. Apparently there's these things evolved from apes there as the dominant species. There's also a plethora of other animals that seem in need of saving from the greedy monkeys.
All right, all eeveelutions assemble. Time for everyone to board their spaceships.... we got creatures to steal I mean save from the hoomans... and preserve in tiny balls so that we can make them fight for us and pretend to be friends with them!

Why'd you shrink the kids?
 
They became too old for the children's menu and our family is on a budget. The host still didn't fall for it.

I don't want to talk about that. When I filled the papers to get the visa to Canada, they asked me my affinity with lakes and I said "None in particular". I heard that drinking lakes was severely punished there.

I hijacked the timeline and stole his boat. "Bon Voyage". I don't actually know how to drive a boat, but we ignore that part.

Why did my magikarp evolve into a rapidash?
 
Look at the letters:
magikarp / rapidash

Shares five: r-a-p-a-i. Now remove those. Leaves mgk / dsh. Take a look at their position in the alphabet.

mgk = 13-7-11
dsh = 4-19-8

Did you notice something about the numbers?

13 + 7 + 11 = 31
4 + 19 + 8 = 31

Equals the same thing. Did not evolve. Simply became a different permutation of itself.
