Archipelago (Completed)

I didn't know my game could receive items mid-mission. Those Cyclones were very nice, Devalue. I got a Chicken for you in Earthbound, did you get that mid-game too or is this just a Starcraft thing?

(Also got a Projectile Refill and Magic Mirror for Confused Piplup, a Zinc for Arcaneum's LeafGreen, and an upgrade for a unit I don't have yet.)

Currently having some issues opening the game with the randomizer mod and Archipelago options appearing. I'm assuming a re-install of everything will work properly but I thought an update that I'm having some initial issues would be good to mention.
Hopefully. Glanced around the Discord. Try installing the mod manually, rather than let the launcher do it, if that does not work. (May or may not be applicable advice for this problem. Never played the Messenger.)

Was not connected at the time. Receives items mid-game too, though. Varies a little by game. Hears a little sound in Earthbound (dialogue box for party members), the usual Link pose of raising it above your head in Link to the Past, and a notification in Civilization 6 (plus a tech/civic pop-up). Believes Stardew Valley updates at the start of day, via the mailbox.

Fortunately ran out of reasonable things to do. Wants to keep playing a little more. Saves that enthusiasm for the real thing, though. Already got at least one item for everyone.

[PokeCommunity.com] Archipelago (Completed)

Ignore my previous post! A little bit of tweaking and I got everything running and connected to the test server successfully (minus an instance of thinking my game crashed lol)

I'll do a little bit of goofing around on the test server today just to kinda familiarize myself with how it works, but otherwise I assume I'll be ready and able when we actually get started! Thanks for the extra time/patience!

Edit: Little bit of goofing has been done! This is already super fun and I'm very excited for when we actually start. I wanted to try and get an idea of where I could go and what I could do to get started and what checks I could... check? And I'm glad I did, I thought I was softlocked at one point and just realized there's an option in the Archipelago settings in-game to just return to a safe point, and wanted to make people aware of that if they might benefit from it.

My testing seemed fine (I updated everything, so I shouldn't have a repeat of the fishing rod issue), but I'm submitting a revised YAML because I noticed that A Short Hike got an updated Player Options page, and I wanted to fix one of the pain points, doing the races without the Running Shoes. (Entirely possible, but ugh, so many resets since they need near perfect play, even more so with minimal feathers.)
Spoiler: Player Options

I've fixed a couple mistakes and also have a revised YAML. The main thing is that I picked the wrong difficulty and would like to play on Normal. I can still revert to Casual if I'm stuck on a specific hard mission without good enough units. I also picked the wrong default game speed and put Progression Balancing at the wrong end, though this latter one is basically irrelevant for my game and all it does is slow generation a little when turned on. I'm still going to need a spoiler doc and tracker link like last time.

Devalue, when you do the next round, could you put everyone's games in their names instead of just the people playing multiple games? It makes it easier for me to keep track of who is playing what.

I forgot to ask this myself, thanks for mentioning it!

Sure, barring any objections from affected players. (Will see the names on the next test server.) Cannot quite do all of them, though. Cuts off at 16 characters, due to old games and text box space. Prefers keeping the username intact over including the game.

I have a longer username, so you can abbreviate mine as "Exp. of Time SC2".

Thanks to a ton of work and help from Devalue and Arcaneum, I should hopefully be ready come launch day! Z1 practice (after getting it sorted out) worked perfectly and ALttP went pretty well also.

Starcraft 2 is also going great by the way. It's fun enough that I already played a ton more missions than I needed to for testing stuff.

Ok, i set Retroarch following the instructions for my game. I should be set. I also played a bit.
Hm. Never connected to the server, according to the room log. Did you receive any of the following items: Steel Sword, Projectile Refill, Magic Mirror, Cure Potion (x2), River Coin, or Charm Claw?

Best guess: In the Archipelago client, did you put "archipelago.gg:64030" (without the quotes) in the server field and hit Connect? Generated the game locally and hosted it on the website. Mentions this specific case in the setup guide.

Yes, I noticed that as well. Should be solved now. I didn't properly setup the client. However, a mistake was in the guide as well: the default number of the port in the pic and the default number in the text were not the same. After changing the port number from the one in the image to the text one, it seemed to be working.

Nods. Spies you on the server now (and sending stuff). Looks good.

[PokeCommunity.com] Archipelago (Completed)

Are sign-ups gonna be open for a while and do we have any estimate for a potential start date? I don't mean to rush people at all! It just seems like we're mostly good to go and I'm not only very excited but also plan to have a busier day today as well as having JRPGs be our theme for the game-along this month.

Will be open for a little while. Hopes to rope in four more people on Discord. Expressed interest there. Already pinged them. Wants to do another test server for them too. Ideally starts sometime tomorrow, but maybe the day after tomorrow. Depends how technical issues go.

Currently at 18 games across 12 people, also.

I'm going to cheat my way to the end of my game in this test server so I know what exactly happens when one of us wins a game.

(Note: Starcraft 2 has built-in cheat codes. I do not plan to use any of them in the actual final Archipelago run, except the no-fog-of-war cheat. This last one will mostly help locate items that might be hard to find otherwise, especially in timed missions, and doesn't offer me much competitive advantage since I already know most of the mission layouts well.)
