Bad habits are hard to break!

What are some bad habits that you have? Have you tried to stop them? What are some bad habits that you have managed to break?

Personally my worst habit is procrastination and is something that I have tried to break countless times in the past without much success. This has been a problem in school and I wish I was not so addicted to procrastinating things. I feel I could do so much more if I didn't let my laziness take over sometimes.

The worst bad habit I've had for pretty much all my life is biting my fingernails quite a lot, and it scares me whenever people look at them because they might be perceived as "disgusting" :3c and I can never seem to break it at all, even when I tried earlier this year :(

I know the feeling. This is a bad habit that I had as a kid and I finally broke this about 4 or 5 years ago. I have been much happier since because I would bite my nails down so slow and everything would be so painful to the touch.

My biggest habit is my use of tobacco. I go through about a half tin of chew a day. I started it because I felt it helped with stress and now I can't get rid of the stuff.

I procrastinate and bite my fingernails on occasion too sadly. That and constantly putting myself down has not been very great either.

This is pretty much what I was going to say. I used to do it when I was younger, but then I stopped. Now I've started doing it again, and it's driving me crazy!

Grinding my teeth: Ive tried the problem is, once I start and become aware of it, it's very difficult for me to stop. I'm afraid I might need to get a guard or something so I can't :l

Not drinking enough water: I have a bad habit of not drinking water all day, it's kinda bad and I have to find someway to remind myself.

I'm pretty bad about the water thing too. I used to drink so much water to the point to where I was drinking more than I actually should, but as of the past few years I have nearly stopped drinking it altogether. I'm just not really a fan of the taste, I guess. It's definitely a bad habit that I'd like to kick :\

I've been smoking fairly consistently for about six years now. Had all sorts of reasons why I should stop - money issues, heart and lung problems, etc etc etc, but I never actually have. I don't think it's so much that I feel unable to as it is I just... haven't wanted to enough, which is weird since as I say, I've had plenty of reasons to stop and very few in comparison to carry on.

I kinda consider smoking for me more a habit than an addiction. Yes, I'm addicted, but I think that if I was to get out of the habit of having a cigarette regularly then it'd be so much easier to just stop them entirely. Breaking routine isn't always a bad thing, I suppose.

I've always seen smoking as more of a habit as well. I know my uncle is a huge smoker and he unconsciously reaches for a cigarette even if he isn't craving one because he has such a habit of doing so. Like you, he has tried to kick this habit before and with basically the same reasons, but it is just something that can't be broken easily. I'd say it's one of the top two or three hardest habits to break.

Major procrastination and popping my knuckles.

Aye. People say that the only real surefire way to quit it is to go cold turkey and ask your friends to not smoke around you, not give you any cigs, and not let you buy any. But I just... don't want to do that enough. I could if I wanted to, I'm sure, but I don't really want to. I just don't understand why I don't want to; it's certainly something that extends beyond "because it's hard work", but idk what.

I have an extremely terrible habit of nail biting, it's gotten to the point my mother wants to put foul-tasting nail polish on my nails. Other than that, I also tend to rub my nose a lot.

My brother had a bad nail biting problem, but he didn't put foul tasting nail polish on his fingers, but instead hot sauce. It took a few weeks, but this eventually broke his nail biting habit.

Procrastination, I can be lazy sometimes, and cracking my knuckles, neck, elbows, ankles, knees, wrists, jaw, back. . . But, luckily, that one I've 95% gotten rid of.

This certainly does seem like your typical bad habit, but for me it is. But whatever. I'm often paranoid that my phone'll go off in class, so every morning, I change it to Silence All + Do Not Disturb + make sure all my alarms are off. I forget to turn all the stuff back on and miss important calls and texts all the time.
