How early is too early to start Christmas shopping??

It's already November and you know what that means.

Christmas songs are on repeat at malls and department stores, people are decorating their homes, cities, and malls, and not to mention Christmas decor have been up for sale since like...August. It's crazy. Can we just skip Thanksgiving?

However, I'm left with a question for myself. I won't be traveling for Christmas this year so I will be doing a LOT of shopping for my family in California, and I want to do it as early as possible so I won't have to deal with the crowds later on. In your opinion, how early is too early to start shopping for the holidays? Do you wait for the Black Friday deals or do you wait it out and beat the final rush?

tbh never? You can go year round and buy stuff and store it away, you'll save money too.

You could start shopping right after Christmas to prep for the next Christmas

Going to agree with others in this thread. I don't think there's a "too early" . As soon as retailers start putting up their Christmas merch, go wild! You'd want to start early anyway, because Christmas shopping later on I'd imagine is going to be an absolute nightmare, because everyone else is going to be shopping more and more closer to the holidays anyway.

Anything earlier than June of the same year is too early. Gifts can become obsolete in six months. Interests, trends and life circumstances change; technology evolves too rapidly; prices are unstable; new reveals mean new priorities; and Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas mean weight can also fluctuate wildly.

Not worth the risk of standing in that Walmart return line for six days.

If you see something that someone would like, even if Christmas is far-off, get it. There shouldn't be limitations in terms of when you shop, but of course things can get pricey out of sales. And in them. Sigh sigh sigh...

But its unbearable when shops start to celebrate it in fucking May! I hear Jingle Bells all year round and I'm going out of my brain. Can't we just have it in December? Please? Please...? One more Christmas carol out of the appropriate month and I might just snap.

For a good, cheap present, though, I recommend a hug and then you're home and dry. Bam.

*jirachu grab's korrina's hand and takes her out christmas shopping with me in the middle of January :O*

Too early? Hehe. Probably! *eye roll* lol~

I think October/November is a good time to begin Christmas shopping in general.
Will I put it off til December?

    Absolutely.

The moment it struck midnight to start the month of November, Sounds of the Season swapped from Halloween music to Christmas music. It literally made my mother cry lol because she?s not ready for it. That said... I think Christmas has gotten way out of hand on the Materialism front and the expectation that you have to buy gifts. Simply being there and spending time with family is what should matter but that viewpoint has fallen on deaf ears lately.

even if its gone or whatever, i think you should do that anyways. Not just because its the holidays, idk if i said it before, but if you are mean be mean year round, dont be nice just because its the holidays, if you are nice, be nice year round. The holidays shouldnt affect your action really :/ but it truly does.

Commercialism kills Christmas. Has anyone noticed how, every year, Christmas decoration are on sale earlier and earlier?

Anyway, any time before Black Friday is too early for Christmas shopping. That's just my opinion. I'm really honestly sick of seeing Christmas right after Halloween is over...there's other holidays in between that matter too, you know.

i usually just christmas shop for my boyfriend. last year i think i did it a few weeks before christmas? and mailed it to his moms house since that's where he was staying. since i'll be flying out to see him this christmas i asked him if he wanted me to still buy it ahead of time or me buy it while im there visiting. he was super cheesy and said that i was all he'll ever want and that i didnt need to buy him a present (but im gonna anyways)

but. yeah. i usually do it a few weeks before christmas. my mom usually does it i think the first or second week of december? im not sure.

I tend to wait until a little before Thanksgiving. I think anytime in November is good though. End of October as well.
