March Archipelago 2025 (Complete)

Status Updates:

Doom 1:
As expected, this game is hard-BKed again. I've hinted for two weapons that hopefully will make it easier to actually fight stronger monsters like the Barons of Hell and especially Cyberdemons. Even with the Shotgun, I'm frequently running out of ammo and dying. My Plasma Gun is in @Arcaneum's LeafGreen, in Route 14, as a hidden item behind a cuttable tree. My Rocket Launcher is in @Devalue's Earthbound, in Summers - Scam Shop Slot 2. I've also hinted for Sever the Wicked to get the hinted Thunder Badge for Cherrim's FireRed, and it's obtained from @SonicThrust's Emerald, by defeating Norman.

A Hat in Time: Nothing's changed much here, still hard-BKed after the first mission in Subcon Forest, and without enough points to hint for anything. My second level unlock was Alpine Skyline, which is completely inaccessible without the Hookshot Badge. I've seen Arcaneum's Water Coaster hint, and I will need the Ice Hat and Dweller's Mask to obtain it. I may also need more Time Pieces, since I don't know how many are needed for Nyakuza Metro without the Dweller's Mask.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk: This game was really productive today, and I cleared out all my available checks recently. I have enough points to send five Hints. The Camera App, my first hint, requires two SA2 items to get, which I've hinted for and they require 34 Time Pieces from A Hat in Time to retrieve. Suffice it to say it won't be obtained for a while.

I have, however, hinted for my REP, and was able to hint for all three of my remaining 24 REP pieces, as well as a 16 REP. @Alex_Among_Foxes, two of the 24s are in your Zeldas, the first in your LttP at Desert Palace - Beamos Hall Pot Key, and the second in your OoT in Shadow Temple Before Boat Recovery Heart 2. @Arcaneum, the third 24 REP is in your Final Chase - Item Box 9, and @Cherrim, the 16 REP is in your Pokemon Mansion 3F, Northeast Room Item.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle: I'm still BKed here, and used my hints on the Iron Boots, Jet Engine, and Booster, all of which are deep in my Hat in Time. There are still around 20 items I could get with out-of-logic exploits, but they are difficult to obtain and I won't do so unless one of them is a hinted item, or I run out of in-logic checks in my other games.

Starcraft 2: I finally got started on this game. Still only 5 of my 83 missions in, but I already have a very strong arsenal and can easily make it to the end. I got a hint for this game, and the Tea I was asked to find is quite a ways in. Even though it's in-logic, it will take a significant amount of time to obtain. Thankfully, once I do get down there, future hints will be significantly faster.

Below is my Mission Grid. Only two missions are incompletable with my current arsenal, Supreme and Enemy's Shadow. The latter does have most of its checks available, however.

Spoiler:

On this session, I didn't die in any way that would cause a deathlink with my current settings. If it was all_deaths, I don't think Arc would have had a park left to run, hahaha!

I did however have absolutely riveting DLC area gameplay, called waiting for 10 minutes for something to happen, then rush for 2 minutes, then repeat three times.
This is sarcasm, it was exactly as boring as it sounds, but I never learned how to do that section of the game the intended way, without the faster secret way (that I stumbled upon in my playthrough), so my cheese had to do.
Spoiler: Outer Wilds EotE Spoiler Screenshot (Technically)

(I'm being mean, the DLC is great, and the stealth is interesting if you just doing it to explore, and not to maybe find an item at the end. The screenshot is set up for the joke, it's not normally like that generally. You'd understand the feeling if you played it.)

I haven't used any hints, since items are still coming in pretty quickly but here are the items I know I will 100% for a fact require for the ending (while also not breaking logic). Kind of spoilers if you haven't finished the game (again, these items don't actually exist, they just lock vanilla interactions). Probably wouldn't make any sense if you've never played it.
Spoiler: Required Items

Any Translator would be massive as a large proportion of my checks are hidden behind being able to translate text. Getting the Ghost Matter Wavelength unlocks a handful of checks too, but not as many as the Translators.

And for usefuls, I'd really like to have the Autopilot and/or the Velocity Matcher before having to do the ending sequence. It's not that I can't fly planet to planet, it's just takes some of the workload off me, when it comes to slowing down next to my target instead of zooming past it (thankfully, I'm a good enough pilot to not slam straight into stuff, generally).

EoT, I will get your thing in the Pokemon Mansion first thing tomorrow morning. :) My tracker has been telling me I can go there all day but I could not for the life of me figure out how I was supposed to get back to the west half of the world map without being able to fly or cut and I just realized like 5 minutes ago I can probably surf down from Cerulean Cave and jump back down into Mt Moon territory to backtrack to Pallet. @_@

For my progress today, I went through everything I could figure out how to do in FireRed. Made it a decent chunk of the way into KH COM and there's still more I could do there, but it'll be easier if I take my time and level up so I'm in no rush to go to the later worlds I have that are out of order and above my current level, but it's in my back pocket if I get completely blocked everywhere else. I'm also back to pretty much blocked in KH2. I could go do a hard fight underlevelled but I'm sure people will bump into more world items for me before I play again which will help me level and make much more significant progress, so the Roxas fight can wait till my endgame unless someone hints something behind it before then.

@Arcaneum I got my first hint in Starcraft 2, and hinted for Leaping Strike. It's in Celadon_22 in your RCT2.

I got you the Giant's Deep translator recently, if you didn't see it yet.
Sure did, and I had hopped back on to clear the part of GD I could access. Not as much as other planets' translators would unlock, because Giant's Deep has more sub regions, and those need more items.

On the current hints:
  • Explorer of Time's Rocket Launcher: Cannot reach Summers yet. Needs a teleport for that.
  • SonicThrust's Cut HM: Lacks the Strength HM to reach that far.

A note: Plans to not play any games tomorrow, except if a hinted item is within reach (and reasonable). Played a lot between today and yesterday. Could use the eye and hand break. Will still be around and doing the Word Puzzle daily update (and potentially release, if solved).

Update 2

Stardew Valley

Failed to screenshot the character yesterday. (Hit F12 before. Usually takes it then, but notifies on a delay.) Randomed into this character.

[PokeCommunity.com] March Archipelago 2025 (Complete)
Received the Leprechaun Hat among the first few checks. Wears that until the end. (Offers no actual benefits, same as any other hat.)

Received two more progressive fishing rods since yesterday. Catches any non-legendary fish now. Attaches bait to it too, decreasing the time for the fish to bite by half (or feels like it). Makes fishing a lot less boring.

The primary mission for today: get all the sphere 1 checks. Stands the highest chance of unblocking someone with those. Consists mainly of the Fall events and quests, plus an "easy" Community Center bundle or two. Potentially includes another odd thing here or there.

First up: the Stardew Valley Fair. Collected enough stuff to put up a good Grange display: Golden Egg, an Iridium-quality fish, some food, a vegetable, a fruit, a diamond, and three other things. Scored...92 points? Would have actually gotten the victory even with standard festival difficulty. (Sets 1st place at 90 on normal. Not sure about the mark with the easy festival setting.) Loaded up on Star points, both for the checks at the festival and the bundle in the Community Center. Played the Slingshot minigame a good ten times or so. Also hammered the stone for the final check of the festival.

Second: the Spirit's Eve maze. Saw nothing worthwhile in the shop. Knew the maze well enough. (Is not timed or anything.) Simple. Definitely appreciated the Golden Clock here. Allows you to skip time. Meant not wasting maybe 5 minutes for the festival to start at the end of the day.

Delved into the mines for quick-ish checks. Had elevators down to floor 65 or so. Cleared up to floor 80. Would be difficult to go much further without a better pickaxe. Takes...four hits to break a rock in the lava area? Hates using bombs for the standard mines, generally. Wants the materials for other things.

Crafted some Crab Pots. Reports less than stellar luck here. Failed to entice any lobsters. Tossed down two more crab pots to get the river ones started. Will move one or the other when they finish.

Finished a couple of bundles. Completed the Archaeologist's Bundle, leaving just one more for the Boiler Room (and Alex_Among_Foxes's Hammers). Discovered you can just take the Jack-o-Lanterns outside of peoples' homes for a different bundle.

Hated the bundle requiring 20 foraged items. Ended Fall with 18 Wild Plums. Chose to do Fall again, just to be complete. Grabbed two plums a few days in and slept a lot. Fed into one of the secondary objectives: cash. Gratefully accepted the Starfruit Seeds from Arcaneum's Aide check. Broke into 5 digit cash totals by planting a bunch of those. Earmarked most of the money from that for further expanding it.

Started the fish gunk stuff (see: roe). Was not too bad, actually. Got easy quests. Probably did not even need to do them. Should have enough roe for the rest of the seed.

To-Dew List
  • Do all the Spring and Summer events, quests, and bundles.
  • Catch all the Spring and Summer fish, minus the legendaries. Get the Crab, Lobster, and Periwinkle from Crab Pots too.
  • Get more cash for expensive books, buildings, and tools. Could probably save-scum these.
  • Do the Special Order quests. (Got this after moving on for the day. Bleh.)
  • Maybe hint for the Island Obelisk tomorrow? Does not have Ginger Island access yet, surprisingly.

Cannot take credit for the pun. Named some mod that.

Pokemon Crystal

Received the Squirtbottle from Arcaneum. Bye, Kanto.

Checked the bag for TMs and HMs. Got four HMs: Cut, Fly, Whirlpool, and Waterfall. Can only use Cut right now. Mentions Crunch on the TM side, but nothing else exciting.

Really needs a decent Special move on Entei, who is stuck with physical moves: Rock Slide, Bonemerang, Razor Wind, and Amnesia. Tried to teach Crunch. No. Waterfall? No. Vine Whip? No. Come on. Set the minimum TM compatibility to 60% or so, and HM a bit higher.

Continued leveling Entei. Might not have a great Attack stat. Remains a legendary with high overall stats. Beats taking the time to level up someone else marginally better. Hoped to get bailed out by the level 20 Sudowoodo tree or the level 40 Suicine. No on both. Was Sunkern for the former and Chinchou for the latter. (Evolved Chinchou to Lanturn to see the stat spread. Was very defensive.)

Cleared out all the available spots in Johto once more. Cannot get to Blackthorn without Strength or several other places without Surf. (Has the badges for them, at least.) Meant going back to Kanto. Picked up about eight levels since last time. Battled some of the gym trainers for a few more.

Started the gym leader tour with Surge. Struggled with Entei here, who was a little underleveled (level 40ish versus level 40-46). Stood no chance against the level 46 Suicune with a super-effective Hidden Power. Sidenote: Almost beat a level 40 Parasect with a level 15 Tyranitar. Got it into the red before fainting.

Returned with X items. Still went poorly, thanks to Suicune's critical bypassing the stat boosts. Managed a win, at least.

Continued to Sabrina, Erica, Misty, and Janine. Had an easier time with all of them. Got...nothing good from any of them. Found Stardew Valley's Special Order Board along the way, which feels like a curse (time-consuming checks, unless the short setting modified them).

Currently blocked. Needs Strength, Surf, the Pokegear, or potentially the Storm Badge to a good Fly point) mainly. (Played Crystal Archipelago once before. Will be cross if the Storm Badge ends up in Victory Road a second time.)

Screenshot of Entei and its stat spread:

Earthbound

Played a little earlier in the day. Saw the Diamond come in late yesterday. Only remembered about the Diamond giving Threed access while firing up the game. Forgot to visit the Bakery in Threed. Holds a decent amount of items in Shopsanity. Spaced a bunch, apparently.

Came back late in the day. Spent about 30 minutes digging out of all the stuff that came in. Needs to inspect all the gear to know what it does. Also wants to sell stuff, rather than just destroy it.

Did not realize how much Equipamizer hurts Poo (who is already the worst party member). Wears unique equipment in vanilla. Loses stats by wearing anything else. Found nothing Poo can equip well in this, despite sending two pieces of what would have normally been Poo's equipment. Walks around with nothing, as a result.

Found some decent equipment for Ness. Ditched the yo-yo for a bat. Cost a little offense to do so. Suffers a 18.75% miss chance with yo-yos and slingshots, however. Highlights a Flash-resistance body piece, as well as another body piece resistant to Fire and weakly resistant to Frost, among the other equipment.

Gifted one of Paula's weapons (a Long Saucepan?) to Stardew Valley. Wanted to see what happens. Finds out next time in Stardew Valley.

Eagerly leapt into Deep Darkness and Lumine Hall. Hoped one of them was a little later in the seed. Considers both of these areas pretty farmable for experience. Intended those together and early, however. Yielded only 3500 experience for a pack of 4 slugs at best. Not terrible, but not a powerleveling place.

Claimed the second Sanctuary location. Entered the Fire Springs next with the newly-acquired Tenda Hotpants. Ooooh boy. Likely intended this to be one of the last places you visit. Knew it was bad on the first fight with a Soul Consuming Flame. Blasted Ness and Poo for all of their health in one attack. Only took 50 damage from Ness's bat too. Compare that to the 120-ish damage on the dinosaur outside who had a physical shield active.

Managed to best one of the Soul Consuming Flames with a Flame Amulet (the fire-resistant equipment mentioned earlier). Knocked the damage to Ness down to 15, from 220ish. Healed Poo while Poo was useful with PSI Freeze Beta. Estimates about 1000 health on this thing. (Vanilla: 602 hitpoints.) Earned a whopping 25000 experience each for that. (Vanilla: about 18000 each. Plays with x1.5 - x2 experience, so maybe normal.)

Reached the sanctuary boss between running and healing. Actually beat Carbon Dog. Could not handle Diamond Dog, however. Needed the Flash-resistant armor for the second phase. (...Actually, wait. Can you switch armor mid-battle? Believes you can change weapons. Would still be an uphill battle.) Wanted to Brainshock Diamond Dog to try to diamondize itself. Did not keep Poo alive that long, though.

Cleaned out all the items from the Fire Springs, if nothing else. Scurried off to Threed to take the UFO to Winters. Left it there. Still has a little left in logic, but not much.

Will still be around and doing the Word Puzzle daily update (and potentially release, if solved).
Did you see my "Sevault Canyon" guess upthread? I made it one minute after the cooldown ended.

@Arcaneum I got my first hint in Starcraft 2, and hinted for Leaping Strike. It's in Celadon_22 in your RCT2.

SEVAULT CANYON

I got you the Giant's Deep translator recently, if you didn't see it yet.
Correct. Appears in the Sevii Islands, specifically on Seven Island.

All the progression items from Puzzle 3
  • HM01 Cut (CherrimFR)
  • Teleporter Fragment x3 (ArcRoR)
  • SS Ticket (STEmerald)
  • Progressive Hoe (DevalueStardew)
  • Heroic Fortitude (Kerrigan Tier 1) (ExplorerOfSpace)
  • Pencil Eraser (DevalueEB)
  • Graffiti (M - TeleBinge) (ExplorerOfCrime)
  • Avenger (ExplorerOfSpace)

Forgot to explain these two before, but:
  • Photon Geyser: Necrozma's signature move
  • Big Smoke Trap: One of the traps in the Underground and Grand Underground in Sinnoh.

Concludes all of the puzzles.

@Arcaneum I got my first hint in Starcraft 2, and hinted for Leaping Strike. It's in Celadon_22 in your RCT2.

I'll be on it today, will see if I can get to that check!

Generally the RCT2 ones are thankfully quite open, as long as they aren't gated behind ride types.

EDIT: sorry just realised you had other hints too - Route 14 I can't do until I get Cut. I hinted and both the HM and Badge are in my SA2B so I'll work on getting those pronto. I don't think I have Final Chase yet off the top of my head but I'll prioritise it once I unlock it.

If Omochao 7 happens to be obtainable via out-of-logic in Prison Lane that would be super helpful as that contains my Surf. Not the end of the world if you can't though, no pressure. Got lots I can be getting on with whilst waiting anyway!

Ooookay, done for the night. So far I'm at least 30% checks wise complete with 4 out of my 5 games, (one being at over 50%) so I'd say that was a pretty good day.

LtP: The game I did the least on today, only going in at the last moment to grab a couple of easy things I missed last time and to see what items I had been given. Nothing incredible progress-wise was done here, and I'm kinda stuck in this weird 'half way to something good' state where I'm missing just one or two items for a ton of progress. The specific items I'm looking for are the Mirror, the Book, and the Hookshot. Though the Lamp would be decently helpful as well as the Power Glove.

SM: The second to least progressed game today, though only in checks, and there's apparently only 100, so saying I've got 30% really just means I've got 30 items out of those 100 lol. I did manage to kill Kraid today, though. So that's 1/4th of the way to GO mode for that game. Speed Booster, Gravity Suit, and the Grapple Beam are the most useful items I need here.

OoT: I started today with OoT like I said I would in my last post, and got to the pot room that had around 40 ish checks in it which was pretty cool. :p I also did a bunch of clean up of the overworld checks I couldn't get before due to an explosives shortage. I'm not able to make much progress into dungeons as of yet, though. As for items, pretty much anything that isn't rupees, hearts, or skull tokens is helpful, though I'm still not quite at 50, I haven't found the spider house yet to turn the tokens in, so hoarding a bunch at the moment isn't really doing much lol.

Z1: I SMASHED IT HARD today. I got Level 8's Triforce piece, and cleaned up almost every available check I could. The only place left with anything reachable is DEEP Level 6, and sadly I ran out of bombs while doing my clear-out. As for items, the Ladder, Flute, Bow and Silver Arrow are all I need for GO mode I believe, so any one of those with exception to the arrow will open a decent number of remaining checks, the Ladder being easily the most valuable.

And lastly M&L: Good news is I started my day having been given the tunnel ability for Luigi! The bad news however, is I can't grab that item for Arc until I apparently beat the boss in the Chucklehuck Woods, which requires a specific item to get into, which I of course don't yet have. >.> But I was able to clean up a ton of buried checks from all over the map, and I do still have plenty of places open for me to look for more. Beyond something called a Beanbean Brooch and Mario's Fire Hand ability, there isn't much left locked to me.

Aaaanyway, time for me to sleep lol.

Pokemon Emerald is open! I've received both Surf and the Balance Badge so a good chunk of Hoenn is open for me and will continue to open as I just progress through the game normally. If necessary I'll hint for anything I still need once I've hit my next wall, but normal progression through Emerald is where my attention is going currently. The typical helpful items like Magma Emblem will probably still be important if I don't get them by then. 93/952 as I'm writing this.
Emerald has gone from 93/952 to 477/952. The big things now are going to be something like Magma Emblem (Magma Emblem is at ArcSA2B's Final Rush - Item Box 5 (Gate 1)) which I believe opens up most of the Hoenn sea, and Rock Smash (HM06 Rock Smash is at ExplorerOfCrime's Tagged 350 Graffiti Spots). I'm going into Soft BK currrently because my tracker is still showing me there's stuff I can grab north of Mauville wrapping around the northwestern path of Hoenn around to Meteor Falls and back down to Rustboro, but without having Rock Smash and the Go-Goggles (Go-Goggles is at SetsunaEmerald's Magma Hideout 2F - Team Magma Grunt 7) I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get to areas like Route 113 and Fallarbor? If there's some method I'm not aware of, please let me know and I'll eagerly get all my remaining possible checks.
HM02 Fly and the Feather Badge would also be incredibly convenient to have, though not required. I've looped through the entire region on foot multiple times and will continue to do so if necessary.

Cave Story and FFV seem to be unchanged for now, I'll check in after a good night's rest and see if anything's worth updating.

Been forgetting to document the specifics in my games but just as a general update:

Sonic 1 - Currently BK'd again. My last two Zones will be unlocked soon though! Labyrinth Zone is gated behind Setsuna's Magma Hideout (which I found the Emblem for this morning) and then Spring Yard Zone is gated behind Labyrinth Zone! Then it's just getting the remaining Special Stages and that will be the game completed I believe.

SA2B - Quite a few things to look at which I'll do later today. I unlocked the next Gate this morning, so I only have one more Gate to go (with about 30 Emblems needed at this point I think). Not had many Upgrades, so hoping those turn up soon! Unfortunately @Explorer of Time I can't get Cut nor Cascadebadge right now - the HM will require Chucklehuck Woods Cave Room 1 Coin Block from @Alex_Among_Foxes and the Badge I THINK needs Iron Boots so I can access the rocket to get to the planet with it on.

Leaf Green - Thanks to the Poké Flute I cleared out what I could in Fuchsia City (including the Gym), tidied up the Routes and stuff now. BK'd until Cut + Cascadebadge or Surf is unlocked.

RCT2 - Going to be playing a bit today, as there is quite a bit I think I can unlock. It's quite an intensive game this time around so need to dedicate a good block of time to try and power through, which can be a bit hard.

Risk of Rain - Going to keep this one simmering until a VERY important hint comes up or I am completely BK'd everywhere else.

Only things that seemed to be of note were Ifrit's Fire (@Setsuna) and Basement Key (@Devalue)

I haven't unlocked the level gate for it yet, so it's impossible at the moment. However, once I unlock it, I can go retrieve it for you immediately. I have three level gates left, and all of them are locked behind King Boom Boo and by extension the Shovel Claws.

Speaking of which, @Devalue, I accidentally hinted for the wrong item* because I misunderstood how many hints I had (last AP I was in had a different hint ratio and I mixed them up). Is it possible to hint for the Shovel Claws? There's no path to hinting for a long time without getting it and it's critical to progress in this game.

(I really wish there was an option to turn off King Boom Boo in level gates in YAMLs for this game.)

*Jet Engine, and that hint is more or less useless since it's from a locked shopkeeper in my own game that's very easy to check when unlocked.

HM06 Rock Smash is at ExplorerOfCrime's Tagged 350 Graffiti Spots

That will be very lategame in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. At the very least, I'll need to get to somewhere in Mataan.

[Hint]: ExplorerOfSpeed's Knuckles - Shovel Claws is at Route 2 - Item 3 in DevalueCrystal's World.

Locked behind the EXPN Card. Just got the Pokegear, on the plus side.

Wait, how did it end up there? My Local Item option must've gotten removed for the Shovel Claws somewhere along the way.

Is the EXPN Card something you can hint for?

[Hint]: DevalueCrystal's EXPN Card is at Sommelier Bundle in DevalueStardew's World.

Not available. Needs Kegs, which is at 8 Farming levels (out of 10 total). Stands at 6, currently.

Edit: Theoretically receives a single Keg from someone. Believes one is in the pool, anyways. Potentially happens before the farming levels.

I'm somewhat late updating this, but this is exactly what I needed, I never knew you were able to go north out of Rustboro! Emerald is at 602/952 with that. I'm mostly being gated by the Rock Smash and Strength HMs currently, badges have been going smoothly, thanks to everyone who's been helping me out!

There was also something like 5 checks in FFV I grabbed, but it was mostly just a funny thing to see that the checks for the legendary weapons were things like "Twenty Rings" or "Extra Life" so I grabbed my Old Time Magic and a couple things that looked like they were the most helpful. At the very least it was confirmation that FFV's tablets aren't keeping anything important behind them, so don't worry about going out of your way for one if you see it.

@Cherrim I cleared Sever the Wicked and got you your Thunder Badge.

And it looks like I have some Hat in Time checks to go get at long last. Thank you, Devalue, for that Progressive Painting Unlock.
