Moveset Help & Other Questions (FAQ in first post)

Well, neither are particularly difficult. It's a matter of what works best with your team, if you already have an offensive Pokémon on your team, then the Sp. Defensive Spiritomb would be best, but if you already have a lot of bulky tank Pokémon, then the offensive Spiritomb would work best.

They're both pretty straight-forward to use, the only thing with the Sp. Defensive Spiritomb moveset that I provided, is that you need to know when it would be best to use Calm Mind, when it would be best to use Rest, and remember that Rest-induced sleep is exactly 2 turns, so don't accidentally use Sleep Talk on the 3rd turn.

The offensive Spiritomb, however, you need to know beforehand (or at least have a site like Smogon ready) what the base Attack is for a Pokémon you want to use Foul Play against. Also, this is something to keep in mind when you're using Pain Split:

"Pain Split adds the current HP of the user and target Pokémon. It then divides this value by two and sets the HP of both Pokémon to the result. If the new value is higher than the maximum HP of either Pokémon, that Pokémon will have its HP set to that maximum." - Bulbapedia

Basically, you want to use Pain Split when your HP is lower than your opponent's. It will heal you while dealing damage to the opponent. The bigger the gap in HP, the more damage it will do to them, and the more it will heal you. The actual HP stat is a factor in that, as well.

So bold nature was the Sp.Def Spiritomb? Or is there a Calm nature set I'm missing here?

Yep, Bold is best on the Sp. Defense Spiritomb. Bold is +Defense, -Attack, which is what you want to help cover yourself against physical attackers.

Alright, judging by my current vision for a team, if I use wall Spiritomb, I could use Chandelure as a infiltrator beater while Aegislash is my Physical beater, or if I use Offense Spiritomb, I'd have to leave out Chandelure and go with like mega Sableye for tankiness, which Scenario sounds better?

What is your goal for the team? Just list the pokemon team you want. Dont forget other pokemon have multiple sets as well.

Should I keep this Naive Shiny Rayquaza from the mystery gift?

Hey everyone,

So, I just got this shiny rayquaza from the mystery gift, and it's stats are as follows:

Nature: Naive
HP: 248 (30-31)
Attack: 235 (29-29)
Defense: 144 (19-19)
Sp. Atk: 236 (30-31)
Sp. Def: 136 (30-31)
Speed: 171 (26-27)

I know this has been asked quite a bit probably, but I'm a bit of a noob, so sorry lol! I only have an hour left to SR, so are the chances of me getting a better naive one with a slightly higher defense really low/slim? Thank you all for your advice and insight, it's greatly appreciated!!!!! :)

Do you want to have a mono-ghost type team? Because if not, you are going to have a rough time because of your lack of coverage, offensively and defensively. Not to mention you have less options for utility.

I'd only go mono ghost if I had no other option.

I want to catch Terrakion. I want him to be flawless or at least 28 ivs or better. How will I know I got a good one? Aside from catching it. Is there an effective way of catching the one I want?

A Synchronize Pokemon with the nature you want in the lead slot helps loads (preferably fainted). For Terrakion's case, the Synchronizer should be Jolly.

There is actually really good method for checking the speed IVs of a legendary Pokémon without having to catch it and look at its actual stat. A Jolly Terrakion with 31 IVs will have a maximum speed stat of 176 at level 50. You can check if your Terrakion is not only Jolly, but if it has 31 IVs in speed, by using a Pokémon with a speed stat of 175, and if you go first, reset, but if the Terrakion goes first, it's pretty much guaranteed to be Jolly with 31 IVs in speed.* Just remember to avoid priority moves like Quick Attack or Aqua Jet.

*It would be best to use a low power move and attack twice, to make sure that there is not a speed tie.

So you should begin the battle with a fainted Pokémon with Synchronize and a Jolly nature, and have your second in line be your speed checker. You'll be able to soft reset much more quickly this way.

Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble deciding on a bold or relaxed Uxie? Is bold or relaxed a better nature for Uxie? I was going to choose bold because it lowers attack, as opposed to lowering speed in a relaxed nature? Would this be the better choice and if not why? Thank you!!! :)

Go with Bold. Uxie has a decent speed stat, and it can utilize that to be a fast supporter (which is what I assume you're doing). In general, keep in mind that lowering Speed is not a good thing unless you're using Trick Room.

What should Mega-Khan be targeting to beat in VGC doubles?

It depends on what role you want it to play. Speedy, hard hitting sweeper, or a more bulky set seem to be the most popular ones. Even without looking to beat something in specific, it can hit a majority of the metagame really hard because of it's ability and access to strong STAB moves and has really good coverage. Mega Kang loves teammates that handle Fighting-types like Terrakion, Conkeldurr, Virizion, as well as Ghost-types like Gengar, or Aegislash. I see Lando-T often paired with Mega Kang not only to deal with Fighting-types like Terrakion but can offer Intimidate support for Kang and the rest of her teammates.

Everything that's not a fighting type or support ghost, really. Kang is VGC's most popular mega because of its unmatched raw damage output, brutal Fake Out pressure, near flawless coverage and a singular weakness, which makes it absurdly easy to build a team around.

IV Spread for a modest lapras?

Hi I was wondering what the best IV spread for a female modest lapras with water absorb would be. I'm new to this stuff so I don't really know. Help appreciated.

Basically 31/x/31/31/31/31

With a Modest nature you don't really need Attack, and it's primarily a special attacker, with the only physical attack Lapras ever really uses anyway is Ice Shard.

I know that the standard Bisharp is (look below) but would it be worth it to put Stealth Rock on it or maybe X- Scissors or just something. I understand the whole STAB thing but it seems that the way its set up makes it very limited.

Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Knock Off/Low Kick
- Protect

Also is Bisharp a better choice than Weavile in general? I am still fine tuning what works.
