Kinda wonder if someone at Game Freak is a fan of Green Arrow. Oliver Queen was a pretty boy millionaire who turned into a vigilante archer, which could explain sudden appearance change from Dartrix and the ghost typing.

I mean, I doubt it. Though I'm pretty damn convinced that Incineroar is totally Tiger Mask after reading the Pokedex entry.

Yeah, but that won't help against them to much. You'd have to keep using it as the flame orb will burn them every turn. All pokemon with those abilities will probably be faster to or have protect, or even adapt to gain coverage on him. If none of those happen, the opponent will just switch to something that would take Primarina out. Which would make him a useless stall in most cases. He could be good for another tanky Wish user probably though.

They seem to certainly be legendary Pokemon.
 
I can get your point, since Scald is still likely going to be the Water-type move of choice from a competitive aspect. Tapu guardians are legendaries so Primarina will likely have an upper hand in a legendary-free restriction.

I was all with you until the last part, haha.

I loath Alola Persian. It's like a slap in the face from GF. I seriously bet if 20 of the best fakemon artists designs alola Persian and we voted best and worst, Persian would dominate worst design without question. I get there is a storyline about in-breeding of persian cats leading to smushed-in faces, but it's not even conveying that in the design. I either love or am indifferent about the designs of Alola, but this one is pure hatred. Sorry, rant over ;)
 
Alolan Persian is perfect because it looks just as cartoony and smug as Meowth.

Meowth is one of my favourites, but I never liked Persian because it made no sense how one of the more iconic and cartoonish Pokemon got a more realistic evolution. Glad they fixed it, even if it looks goofy...because that's the point.
 
I cannot get over how adorable Cosmog is. Especially in the Japanese trailer where it shows you shielding it from attack, that gave me feels overload. The feels are feeling with these games and they haven't even come out yet.
 
My opinions on the starters have not changed since they were originally leaked on the sketches months back:

Decidueye is my favorite. I think it looked a little cooler in its sketch, though. The secondary Ghost typing was unexpected. I really wanted to use it, even though I always pick Water starters. I don't know what I'll do now, since I really liked it be Flying/Grass. I will already have Ghost covered with Alolan Marowak. =/

The final water starter who I still don't recall the name of is simply okay. I don't really like or dislike its design. One thing is for certain... It is much preferable over...

Incineroar. OMG. Its design is ever so atrocious. It looks like it was taken straight-out of some cheesy 80s humanoid animal action cartoon. Who thought this was a good idea?

I say nearly the same for Alolan Persian. It looks...off. It completely loses the sinister, predator-like cat vibe of the regular Persian. Which, I mean, seems like it would fit Alolan Persian even better since it has a Dark typing... But what can I say. Gamefreak has a history of making atrocious looking cat Pokemon. This generation is making no exception, and I guess they had to take Persian down a peg, too.
 
Decidueye looks sick, especially how it uses its wings and vines as a makeshift bow and its own feathers as arrows. It becoming a Ghost is unexpected, but makes sense, since it's based on the stilt owl, an extinct terrestrial owl. Spirit Shackle has some interesting applications; you can trap Decidueye's own checks/counters, then switch to your own. Of course, it has to be mindful of a Pursuit weakness.

Incineroar looks decent; I'm not even bothered by the fact that it's bipedal. Knew it would be Fire/Dark since the Chinese leak. Darkest Lariat is basically a Chip Away clone, but I hope it has base power more than 70 to set itself apart.

Primarina looks beautiful; its type combo makes me glad I went with Popplio since the very start. Sparkling Aria may be the least useful out of the starter signature moves, though, since it cures burns; you're better off spreading them with Scald.

Alolan Persian looks off to me. I mean, I get it's based on an actual Persian cat, but it would be nice if its body matched up with its head.

Out of the three new Tapus, I like Bulu and Lele.
 
I could not be happier that Litten turns out to be Fire/Dark! I can't wait to actually get Sun so I can use him now <3 This is exactly the typing I was hoping for. And a tiger on top of it all, I always wanted a tiger Pokemon let alone a starter!
Choosing from the other two will be hard, both have grown on me over time.
 
WOOO almost 100% correct about the Tapu's typings. Only thing I got wrong were the order in which they belonged to. Also there was Psychic instead of fighting. I did however get all of the Typings correct with the Islands. Just got the wrong typing for Lulu and Bulu.

But looks like the theory of them being based on the Tiki Gods was correct.

As for Rowlet's evolution, I got that completely wrong. Did not expect Ghost at all, but they stay with the triangle with type match ups.

I love how Rowlet's evolution wears like a cape with its wings. Kinda glad it isn't flying now since it is ghost and technically probably could still fly. Just glad it wasn't ground.

Well, Ghost isn't super-effective against Fairy nor resists it. Dark resists Ghost and is weak to Fairy, while Ghost is weak to Dark.

True. Not a complete Triangle, but close enough :P Also, thanks for telling me how to pronounced Rowlet's name. once you said it was from Deciduous, I knew immediately how to pronounce it.


Now with the Tiki God Theory being confirmed, at least to me, it is time to see if I am correct about the storyline being based on the Rainbow Prophecy, which I think it is.


As for cosmog, they didn't confirm if it was Lunala's evolution, so I am going to guess it is the 1st stage of both Lunala and Solgaleo with the other one being the middle. If they were their own, I think they would have reveled both.
 
Primarina was my favorite part of that trailer. :) I really love it's design, and that glorious typing only helps cement it's place as my new favorite starter. Who expected Grass/Ghost though? I'm glad they saved it from that Grass/Flying typing. It's animations looks pretty cool. I would've loved not knowing Red and Blue were in this; the surprise would've been fantastic.

First you talk about Primarina, then you seem to be talking about Decidueye, but which one do you truly mean?
 
I'M SO HYPED FOR THE BATTLE TREE THIS IS THE BEST THING THAT'S COME OUT OF S/M AND THE BEST WAY TO CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF POKEMON BY PUTTING THE BEST CHARACTERS OF THE SERIES IN THERE. FINALLY. NO MORE BATTLE MAISON. WE'RE FREE. I just hope even more characters show up in it like Gym Leaders and more rivals.
Also there actually is an Elite 4? That's hype! And we might get to help build the league too, which sounds really exciting!! I wonder if we can mix records with other people and fight their gyms too.

Dude I love these starters, it's really really hard to pick from them. Archer is my favorite, but I'm letting my friend pick it plus I already decided on a Grass type, although Ghost typing was unexpected (and I wanna use Mimikkyu too). Inciniroar is awesome, he definitely grew on me over time and now I think he's just badass, I also like the text about him on the website. I might just go with Primarina though, as she's just beautiful and I haven't found any other water types I want to use in the game.

I like the Tapu's, but Koko is still my favourite to be honest. Alolan Persian is honestly kind of growing on me???? Like the model from the leaks made it look terrible but seeing it in action here makes it look kinda cute, still could have been better though.

God dammit Pokemon, this last month my hype was honestly dying, I just started to get dissapointed with little things but now my hype is through the roof again!
