  • My last thread got smoked in under 5 minutes so I'll try this one.

What's the scariest moment in your entire life?

Mine is my grandmother having COVID and being in a NY hospital. I feared the worst but she ate it 💪💪 and is fine now

  • I was stabbed in high school, and a lady from Europe hired a hit on me.
    All while I was 17.

    what

In my case, it has to be a close match between the time I covered a rally from the President of Argentina in a shantytown in which taxis didn't dare enter (I was told to *never, under any circumstance* leave the police detail escorting us) and the time when I had an ulcer so bad I couldn't move from my bed for two hours from the pain.

  • @Ivesaur yeah. I was a typical teenager and she hated me viscerally for it. Others (all adults) supported her.

@The Roniverse I'm so sorry to hear that :( My grandfather died of cancer back in 2011 and it just seems so unreal that I can't visit him, call him, etc

oh my god... that is crazy. so glad you're okay!!

    /thread

For me it was my mom dying of cancer 4 years ago and I was unprepared af to face the rest of my life without her.

I'm so sorry Roni ;_; I can only imagine how distraught you were :(

glad she's okay!! I would be super scared if my grandpa got it too, he's 90.

Scariest for me was when I was on a plane and the turbulence was so bad people's luggage was falling out of the overhead bin and they were sliding out of their seats. The one time I was 99% sure I was going to die.

    • Seen yesterday
I mentioned it vaguely in another thread, but a boy came into the hallways of our school with a gun and killed a girl in an execution method.

I pretty much blocked that entire day out for the last couple years. But since then I've never felt any sense of security in public areas anymore. It probably wasn't coincidental, but a couple months later I was diagnosed with having an anxiety disorder.

  • The first time I had an asthma attack when I was doing cross country and I didn't know what the hell was happening, at least my supportive dad got pissed at me because he thought I was "Being a pussy" and was "embarassing him"... I was 8. 😂 Another one is the first time I had sleep paralysis and, again, didn't know what the hell was happening and it totally freaked me out.

  • I choked on my tongue and nearly suffocated, while surrounded by people who were not realising I was in the process of dying horrifically, because of an adverse reaction to anti-nausea medication I was on at the time. One of many scary and unpleasant experiences suddenly getting horribly ill for no apparent reason brought me.

  • Last year in July, I was in a turn over car accident that very few people survive... The van was completely upside down. I was pretty lucky, and only had a few scratches, and no one died, but... a couple people, whom were eldery, were badly injured because they were in the front seats.

I've stopped thinking about it by now, since it was over a year ago. But I still get nightmares quite often of getting into another accident. The weird thing was, the entire time the accident was happening, nothing really registered. I did scream while it was happening, but for whatever reason, after all the stuff that was happening, I was... calm? Kind of scary looking back on how not...freaked out out I was. I was probably in fight or flight mode at that time.

  • Hey n'yall, people are sharing very personal info willingly, please do not bother anyone asking them for details or more about their trauma. Thank you.

  • For me, it had to be almost falling into the Grand Canyon 😨 I went there with my dad and brother, and my dad really really really wanted to walk along the edge of the canyon outside of the railing, for whatever reason, and I slipped and almost fell into the deep crevices of the canyon --Luckily, my survival mode kicked in and I quickly grabbed a tree's branch, which was also luckily right above my head. The tree was small, though, so it could have given out when I grabbed it and wouldn't have saved me.

1-2 months later I found out it was a tree carrying a certain kind of illness kind of like Poison Ivy, but slightly worse.. ..My back and arms were itchy for months..

  • Learning that a loved one of mine was
stalked by a Manson Family cult member, and that the psycho who was going to kill him is now out of jail- no lie.

The notorious criminal is Squeaky Fromme, who tried to assassinate President Ford. Evidently a death list of people she planned to murder was found in her apartment when she was arrested. According to the FBI, my father- a small local representative, was one of the names on her list.

I have never understood why someone this dangerous was given parole. Since she went free in 2009 I can't help but worry about trying to kill people again.

  • Probably when I almost drowned on vacation when I was 12 (or around that age, I don't remember specifically how old I was). Playing on the beach and went a little too far out into the water and got drug out by the undertow. A surfer that was waiting for a wave saw me bop up for air before getting taken back down and managed to grab me the next time I came up before losing consciousness.

aaand this is why i'm not a fan of going to the beach. really surrendering yourself to mother nature at her worst a la the open ocean. i've had my fair share of near drowning moments as a child which cements my fears.

if i have to go i'll stay at the shores all day lol.

One of mine is very similar. I was 4ish and my mother was teaching my older sister how to swim and wasn't pay attention to me. I was walking around the beach in the shallow water when I slipped on a rock and got stuck under a dock. It is one of my first memories and why, to this day, I can't swim or travel over water.

Another one is, when I was 17 I had my own place so it was the party spot for my high school buddies. We went pretty hard and I have since mellowed out quite a bit. This one night when we were at the county fair, we dropped several hits of acid (not sure how many but I got A LOT), got back to my place did wall hits (where you hyperventilate, take a bong rip and have your buddy squeeze you so you go to sleep and wake up super high), started drinking and were taking shots of liquid hydros my buddy had for his arm surgery. That night, I thought SWAT was in the house and I was in my closet with a blow torch (who knows why) and I was praying that if I got out of this I would relax on all of the stuff I was doing.

I came out of my room an undisclosed amount of time later (we tripped for like 18 hours, no idea how long I was on the closet) and my friends were just sitting around a hookah watching TV. 😂
