[PokeCommunity.com] The Count To Infinity - v11

🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Hmmm, I don't know for Megan's country, but in mine, and also where I am now, life is slowly going back to normal (well, normal + masks).

They actually just announced tightening covid measures here again due to the numbers skyrocketing. 😔

also that pic is 👌

Cases are going up as well, hospitals getting fuller and the people who have to work under these conditions are still being exploited. We're heading towards the "fourth" wave. Supposedly it's mostly people who refuse to get the vaccine. Well, and probably children. We still haven't really done about vaccination for children.

I'm also sick and tired of everyone at work complaining about having been forced by the government to get the vaccine (well, those that got it, anyway).

ahh sorry to hear, hopefully it's not too stressful for you D:

My life has been next to unaffected by covid tbh. My job is considered essential and has been busier than ever.
Increased workload + having to wear face-masks is pretty much it.
I'm a loner irl so covid can't affect social life if you don't have it in the first place =D

I'm mainly just getting annoyed at people's inability to get a virus under control. Should be simple with some solidarity, but it ain't happening 😔

At this point I'm just getting tired of the government playing ping pong with the measures.

ikr 😂

It's crazy to think about, but if the ENTIRE world has fully shut down for a month or so right at the start, then it would have had nowhere to go. It would have been disastrous for the world economy, but I bet it would have cost a lot less than what has ended up happening. Of course... that would never have happened in a million years, so here we are!

In their defence, governments are more concerned with economic considerations than anything else, and a lockdown would happen only as a last resort. It turns out that they were finally pushed to the last resort :(

This is the reason why ecological issues aren't solved yet: short-term economic gains are infinitely more important to the powerful than future economic issues...
As a game theory enthusiast, I must point out that we should blame the game, not the players (we should blame the system, not the powerful).

Sad times :(

They'll all make out everything was their idea and then pat themselves on the back for eventually doing what everyone told them to do 12 months earlier 😅
They'll do some research, discover the sad truth and then spend an exorbitant amount of money to distort it until nobody recognizes it anymore.

Did you know that the carbon footprint thing was an advertising campaign made by an oil company that was trying to pin the blame on the consumer? Or that most plastic isn't actually recyclable and they still managed to make people believe otherwise by creating a symbol that looks very close to the recycling symbol whose only purpose is to "tell" which type of plastic was being used? Basically: if you see a symbol that looks like a triangle made of arrows but with a number inside, that's not telling you that the thing is actually recyclable.

=O

To be fair: if you see the numbers 1 or 2 then those at least "can" be recycled. They probably won't be, because only a small portion of plastic actually gets recycled. Most of it just ends up in a landfill or the ocean. It's just not profitable. Recycling plastic is actually pretty hard and requires a lot of resources and buying new plastic is just so much easier and profitable for companies.

But it's still a jerk move to deceive their customers so much...

It reinforces my thoughts that it's up to the companies to change things, not the consumer. The consumer is basically in "make-ends-meet-and-get-entertained-to-escape-depression" mode, and has no influence whatsoever on anything.

It totally is. Though, they will never take initiative unless an outside force, like the government, interferes. And of course they will always just keep shifting the blame to the consumer, as well as do anti-socialism-campaigns.
