Serious To mask or not to mask...

To me it seems like the US makes the biggest deal over having to wear a mask. Those of you in other countries did it seem like people made a huge fuss over mask-wearing like we do in the States?
Mostly people are just apathetic about it here, since there's no official mandates. Just very vague suggestions and no rules. So most people are lazy/convenient or don't think it's a big deal.

I wear a mask have done from the start at the end of the day it is to protect other people and I don't think no one here wants another lockdown

I'll be honest in saying that I followed CDC guidelines. When they said it was okay to not mask up anymore if you were vaccinated, I stopped wearing one. When they revised their guidelines in July, I started masking up again.

The only places I really do not mask up are when I am at home, in my car, or when I am in my office with nobody else around. I wear it to restaurants, stores, or any other public-facing facility I enter.

I don't care if someone wears a mask or not. Where I live we were mandated to wear masks for a time. I followed the rules and wore one at work and when I went out shopping. The mandate was lifted and so I don't wear one anymore. I feel strongly in personal choice and I don't judge others for wearing one or not. I can see why both sides feel validated in their choice.

Let me tell you about New South Wales, the Australian state that just about everyone else in Australia is mad at. You see, most of Australia, even the more hesitant parts, have mostly realised at this point that COVID won't magically disappear if we don't do something about it. Even Victoria where the populace have been just as bad as NSW's and have had riots and shit, at least the state government is trying.

The NSW government's method of dealing with the pandemic has been to not just effectively ignore it, but also to launch political attacks against the leaders of other states who are actually looking after their populace. So we have Victoria where dipshits have been having violent protests and New South Wales where that's been happening and the government is also not doing anything.

Why doesn't the federal government intervene you say? Good question!

So the majority of Aus (Western Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, South Australia and Queensland) are doing in a range of "okay" to "WHY IS THE REST OF THE WORLD NOT DOING WHAT WE ARE!??!" Meanwhile Victoria and New South Wales (especially NSW) are actively petitioning to be new American states.

Hey guys, I thought I'd add a question if it's ok with OP.

Even after the pandemic is over (if it ever ends lbr) will you continue to mask up in the winter or when you go out? Last year saw a fall in cold and flu cases attributed to mask usage. I probably will because I'm sick enough without viruses.

No worries feel free to add any questions you come up with.

I know I wore a mask when my friend and I would go out and play Pokemon GO only because it helped keep my nose from getting cold sooner. I will keep wearing a mask any time I go out just because I'm more of a high risk person even after getting my COVID shots.

Sadly they say mask wearing helps protect others from yourself more than it protects you from them. So wear a mask in stores and at work when you feel symptoms of a respiratory infection to protect others, and ask others to do the same when they feel weary. Normalize mask wearing!

I'll be honest, when the mask mandate lifted here a few months ago, I stopped wearing my mask out to the grocery store, etc. But when It got implemented again, I resumed my daily use. I could definitely see myself continue to using a mask even after the pandemic is over during those fall-winter months where the flu is running amok.

To bad there's not more people like us who actually care. People loved to throw hissy fits and make excuses as to why they couldn't wear a mask when we would make them wear one when they tried to come into our store. They acted like it was the end of the world and all I wanted to say was if you can't be bothered to wear a mask then I can't be bothered to let you in my store.

I will on public transport just because everyone used to cough and sneeze at me when I used to get the train to and from work.

I'm not to bothered wearing a mask, it doesn't bother me a bit wearing one. I'm following cdc guidelines when I go to the store and wear a mask. If it gets to the point that covid is rare I will probably stop wearing one since it really wouldn't be needed.

Though people refusing to get vaccinated are a problem, my sister and brother in law both refuse to get vaccinated and me and my grandmother are disappointed in them over that. My sister also just got over covid, she is lucky it didn't get that bad since she already has breathing issues and didn't wind up in the hospital, because she has a nearly 6 month old child at the moment.

As soon as the CDC guidelines change stating I do not need to wear one in public spaces or where distancing is not possible, I will continue to wear one. I will also wear one where a business deems that they must be worn.

Also, this might be a bit of an unpopular opinion, but I feel that if a business asks customers to wear masks in their store/space, then they should be obligated to provide them at the entrance for customers as well.

I know when I worked at Round 1 we provided masks but they cost $1 each and they were the blue ones sometimes we'd have the cloth ones.

I don't feel it's right to charge for standard blue masks but cloth masks i can understand

Unfortunately, we had no choice as that's what corporate made us do. We would have people complain about asthma. They would be playing pool...you act like that's a taxing thing to play. Whereas we have people playing DDR with a mask on and they are just fine. I mean hell I have a heart condition and Hep C and get tired easily and STILL wear one.

That would be fine during the early days of the pandemic, but it's been 1.5+ years already, people have had plenty of time to get/make masks. Most people should have at least one by now.
