Triple and/or rotation battles - yay or nay?

Triple and rotation battles were battle types that existed in a few generations, but are not typically included in every main series Pokémon game.

Triple battles are as the name implies - battle where three Pokémon are used for each side. Rotation battles also use three Pokémon but on the other hand are a little more unique in the fact that you could rotate your Pokémon into different slots and change which target is hit by a move.

Do you like these battle styles? Should they come back? Or did you not care for them?

Triple Battles, absolutely! They're just as fun as Double Battles, and I'm sure they could see a huge boost after the release of Masters - the main battle style of which is essentially Triples on steroids.

Rotation Battles? Not so much. I find those incredibly frustrating even with the right strategy, so they can stay gone for all I care. (Fun side note: It's thus no surprise that my least favourite of the Battle Chatelaines is Morgan... the one who specializes in Rotation Battles.)

I never liked double battles as it was, so I was even less of a fan of the triple and rotation kinds. I'm not the best strategist, so I tended to struggle when having to deal with more than one Pokemon on the field at a time. I'm just glad the triple and rotation battles didn't occur very often in the games that used them.

I remember the Rotation battles. I never cared for them either way, they're just kind of there and feel awkward to me.

Triple Battles I didn't even remember being a thing and had to look up what they were tbh. I think that says enough on it's own =p

Triple Battles: A weak Yay. Felt awkward with targeting. Presents a huge problem for the middle Pokemon in some challenge runs. Breaks up the monotony of single battles, though. Would like more move support for Triple formats.

Rotation Battles: Nay. Amounts to a big prediction game. Feels a bit random versus an AI. (Has not played the format in ages, admittedly. Might become clearer with practice.)

i don't really care for either of them if i'm honest. perhaps it could be lack of exposure since the number of triples/rotation battles are so limited, but from recollection they're kinda meh? rotation battles were interesting due to the novelty of it, but i didn't care much for those, either.

How much GF limited these battle format than double battle, they really should increase battle format than being single battle. Seen double battle being a norm and why not more triple or rotation battle, I want to enjoy more and strategize more than simply swipe everything in one move.

I used to love triple battles back in the day because I could bring my whole team along in the PWT in White 2. I don't play triples battles as much anymore, but they are still really fun. Rotation battles, on the other hand... never cared for them. It's such an awkward concept, especially playing against AI.

I absolutely loved triple battles - they're so fast-paced! My Trick Room team in triples at PWT was some of the best fun I've had in a battle facility.

I was never a fan of these specific battle types. They bring something new to the table. But they also rip me out of my comfort zone. Honestly, for just a regular playthrough I don't need more than single battles. It's nice to have alternate styles as optional stuff but that's all it should be, imo.

I guess I could make the case for double battles. But those are also usually very easy to spot/avoid. it also makes sense since the main competitive format is Doubles, as well.

But Triple and Rotation Battles feel just very gimmicky...

I have to say I'm surprised they never tried triple battles for it. After all, before doubles were introduced the competitive format was single so its not like it would be without precedent.

Personally, I don't really have strong feelings either way.

They were neat little concepts but while people mention Megas, Z-Moves and Dynamax as gimmicks, I think triple and rotations battle (as well as their cousins: Sky Battles and Inverse Battles) are even more gimmicky.

So like, I wouldn't be opposed to having the option in the game but I'd be perfectly fine with not ever seeing them again.

Actually, I liked them. They're quite cool. I feel like competitively they're far away from the double battles, which are my fav format. However it was nice to do some of them and rotation ones were really creative. I miss them and I think there should have been more especially in gen 5, when those were released.
