Unattractive "Shiny" Colorings

Even though any shiny is considered insanely valuable because they are so ridiculously rare, there are a lot of Pokemon I personally would never want in a million years to be shiny, because I feel their "shiny" look really really doesn't look very nice.

Some that really stand out to me are Espeon and Jolteon, Beedrill, Mr.Mime, Tauros, Chansey, and Mewtwo, whose "shiny" variants are all a similar shade of lime green... don't get me wrong, green is actually my favourite color, but good grief did they ever pick an ugly shade for these 'mons. :(

I don't think shiny Rotom are very good either, because instead of being all different colors like a normal Rotom, a shiny Rotom's forms are all an identical shade of pinkish red. I also don't like most of the Legendary 'mons shiny variants either; Lugia for example feels like it totally loses its "ocean guardian" look if it has red markings rather than blue.

...How bout you? What "shiny" variations do you dislike?

That is an ugly shade of green. The pruple wings and beige underbelly don't work well with it either imo.

I also don't like the shinies that barely look different from the original version (lookin' at you Gengar and Garchomp).

    Togekiss.

I can't even tell the difference between a shiny Togekiss and a normal Togekiss on the GTS in X and Y.

    I mean, seriously:

I realize that, but I can never remember that a shiny Togekiss has red on it's left ear and blue on it's right ear, and I can never remember the exact palette that it used for shiny Togekiss. They just look so similar.

I'm personally not too fond of gold-colored shiny Pokémon, unfortunately, as they tend to look rather unnatural, at least in my eyes. Only one I would consider to be an exception to this is Magikarp, as the bright-yellow color-scheme is what makes its shiny form seem so valuable, in my opinion (who wouldn't like to own a golden fish?). Alongside, I'm also not a big fan of green shines, nor purple.

Never liked its shiny form. Doesn't help that I prefer Grovyle's design to Sceptile's as well.

I also agree with the barely-different-at-all shiny forms being frankly dumb. You wouldn't notice a shiny Garchomp if it wasn't for the shine effect.

Although i've never hated Barbaracle on its own, its shiny form is not something I can call appealing. Tamashii declared it the #1 ugliest shiny Pokémon on her countdown of Top 10, and I can certainly understand why.

Oh wow, that thing's colors actually are hurting my eyes...

I dislike most golden shiny Pokemon. They don't look nice. Sadly it, purple, and green tend to be the most overused shiny colors...Hoopa unbound is one of the worst Shiny pokemon that is gold.

Barbaracle is the most disgusting, putrid and damn-right throw-y-up-y creature that Hell bothered to spit out. Even without the shiny.

Jesus, either the person who made this was colour-blind or wore clogs, 'cause these colours are HORRIBLE. Seriously, why not make him

This Pokemon is frickin' over-powered and it's shiny is bad! >:( This is my arch NEMISIS. I will DESTROY IT. Damn you N!! Why couldn't you settle for a Chatot like everyone else??!!

Cant say I'm a fan of the greens. Such as the Dragonite posted already. The green Ursaring and Espeon too.
On the subject of "cant tell if shiny" take a look at Persian.

There are a few unfortunate shiny colours on Pokémon, not of the top of my head though.

For me Slowbro just does not suit those colours at all...

Heliolisk is one of my favourite Pokemon but the red does not look nice on it. Poor Helioptile too. :(

I personally don't like how monochromatic Greninja's shiny colour is. I know I'm crazy but I prefer its regular colours over it.

And also Pokes with a slight difference in their colour.

Hehehe, I remember a thread like this a while back and I had a field day... This'll be fun!

So, so many of the shiny Pokémon from the first... 3-4 generations are just AWFUL looking. There seems to be an abundance in horrible shades of green and pink. Particularly green. Seriously, it's uncanny - the following Pokémon are all green, in their shiny form:
    Spoiler:

And it's not so much the fact that they're green, because I mean there's only so many colours in a game. It just seems they chose an awful shade of green to go with, for ALL of them, and more!

This bugs me even now, since Pokémon like Gyarados and Charizard were used to show us (back in GSC's day) the concept of Shiny Pokémon, and their Shiny forms are literally as badass as possible.

Ohhh...I forgot about poor Helioptile! They could have made him blue and yellow! Something...but that red!? Yeesh!

I love how fun these topics are, naming and shaming the ugliest of shinies and boy there are some that are downright terrible to look at. So, here's some that weren't mentioned yet.

I like the teal color, but it doesn't work for Aggron. Kinda ruins its badassery if I say so myself.

Lots of people seem to hate green shinies, but Dodrio (and also Doduo) have a very gross shade of it here. For a green shiny to not be considered "ugly" it needs to get the shade right and this is obviously not the case.

Pink and yellow is such a weird combination for Ferrothorn, but if its mention in TamashiiHiroka's Top 10 Worst Shinies video is anything to go by, it really doesn't look good at all.

The reason why normal colored Hariyama looked good was because the colors were in the right places and complemented each other. Here there is too much pink and purple, which don't fit with the rest of it.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Unattractive "Shiny" Colorings

Sorry Honchkrow, you may be badass but pink is not a good look for you. Pink is a color that only works if it's the right shade and is accentuated well, and this shade just ruins it.

Another one mentioned in TamashiiHiroka's Top 10 Worst Shinies, and it's easy to explain why. The normal colors for Krookodile worked effectively given the black gave it the look of wearing shades, and trust me its eyes are a sore thumb on that yellow.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Unattractive "Shiny" Colorings

If you were viewing shiny Magnezone's backsprite in 4th and 5th Gen, you couldn't even tell if it was a shiny, and I know because I remember Polarity, the shiny Magnezone from Marriland's Platinum Nuzlocke. There's like not any notable difference aside from its eye, and that's a shame.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Unattractive "Shiny" Colorings

Teal green and orange? Such a colorful faux pas, and I while I know we had a lot of green/orange 5th Gen shinies, they were at least better than Seismitoad.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Unattractive "Shiny" Colorings

Looks like nothing but a flying rash of bacon. Just utterly terrible.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Unattractive "Shiny" Colorings

Shiny Zygarde reminds me too much of toothpaste, just such a icky contrast to what was a great coloration.

Also, I hate any shinies that are lazily colored, as in ones that are not very different from normal colors or are only just a lighter or darker shade of the normal colors.

Can't stand shiny pokemon that are a few shades lighter or darker than the original (We're looking at you Pichu). As for the "ugly" ones like Noivern and Dragonite I actually like the green and purple clashing mix.
