Useless apps

What's a mobile app that exists that you think is useless? Have you ever used any mentioned app, or seen others use it?

    Skype :rowlhmph:

I can't think of anyone that still uses Skype on mobile but there are far better alternatives these days and even back then. It was consistently crashing on my end and with Messenger/Discord.

Or even better, a lot of these "guides" you find on the store. A complete waste of space if you ask me.

Any bloatware app ever that comes with a phone. Why are you there, and why can't I uninstall you? So... stuff like Google Hangouts, and all those other built-in Google apps I never use. Those are pretty useless, and always will be. I don't even see the point in any of them.

Apps that clean up space because most, if not all, phones have that option built in.

It's always going to be anything Google related for me. The sheer amount of people that believe Android requires Google astounds me honestly. It's not that it requires, but is rather a convenience factor (if you use their services).

I really wish the standard was to not ship the Google suite with Android by default (or at least allow you to completely remove it), but that's not the world we live in. :(

Looks through the long list of my disabled apps because I can't delete them

I have a bunch of stuff disabled just because I can't delete it but I don't want to look at it, and I absolutely SHOULD be able to delete, like google docs, who wants to write whole-ass documents on their phone?? (Peers of mine who write entire papers on their phone somehow don't @ me), duo, sheets and slides, f a c e b o o k, google play stuff, all of LG and AT&T's shovel wear,

On the worse side of the spectrum, there apps I can only hide and not even disable

The stock email app, google drive when the only thing I store is photos, which I immediately delete once i download them onto my PC, the stock gallery app because again, Photos, whatever the app just called google is/does, I don't know, I hide it in the back of the closet, too, stock music app because Spotify, "game launcher," the one where you can make a task list, and the stock calendar app.

My actual phone menus are very plain, simplistic, and organized, and I like it that way. Shame on not being able to delete anything I want. There are some that don't even give me the option to hide them.

All those stupid default apps that come pre-installed on iPhones, and it won't let you even delete them, despite them taking up space that could use for other things!

    Health, charts, etc.

It's ridiculous that some phones won't let you delete Facebook?

one of the perks of being a oneplus owner is that the bloatware iirc is so minimal lmao

gonna have to concur with docs probably being more or less useless on a mobile device for me. i know some people also use duo but it isn't for me and i haven't touched ever. i dont think i've ever really done a video call. @__@ just really regular calls and texts...

Samsung phones are nice, but they have way too much bloatware. Like i can understand bloatware to be what most people use or mostly google services, but the fact you cant uninstall things is quite annoying

my phone has a lot of bloatware when I got it. and for some reason, instagram can only be disabled, not uninstalled. I went ahead and made an account just to make it useful ehehe

App bloatware is really why I encourage Android users to install custom ROMs onto their phones, like LineageOS. They're bloatware-free, and you can actually choose to have the Google Suite of apps installed or not as well.

That does depends on if theres a build compatible with the phone you got. Like i cant find one of lineage that works with mine so im stuck with what i got

Bloatware was one of the main reasons why I swapped completely to iOS. The bloatware is very minimal and even then you can remove most of it. But to answer the question, anything google related that's not gmail. I remember when we were in an era of telecom bloatware and it drove me absolutely insane.

As someone who heavily uses the Google stuff on my phone so I don't have to install 3rd party apps that eat up space, I don't find many of the actually useful ones to be terribly bloatware like since I actually use them. From a "you can't remove these if you don't use them" standpoint, though, it would be nice to have that space back, for the ones I don't use and can't remove.

What I'd like to not have on my phone at all is carrier specific apps that are preloaded. They're garbage and useless 99% of the time, and bog the phone down worse than any manufacturer specific app or the Google apps.

On the iOS side, it'd be nice if you could remove Siri's components if you don't use Siri.

There are so many useless apps today. I installed mainly work related apps only. Want to create my own app in the near future. I found specialists in mobile app development, go to website for info. It's one of the best app dev companies I've worked with.
