    Vote on your Favorite Protagonist!​


    Hello and welcome to a new multi-platform event, that will last several weeks!

    In this event, your objective is to vote for your favorite Pokémon protagonist across a series of polls. To begin, we will start by region*, and see who is the favourite protagonist from each area**. Afterwards, the winner will form a tournament round, where we will do 4 sets of up to 4*** winners, and then take the top two options from there into 2 sets of four, then a final poll.

    Where can I vote?


    You can vote for the first set of people in this thread at the top - the Kanto nominees! You can also vote on our social media pages: Twitter (will use its own poll system), Bluesky (a Google poll), Instagram (a Google poll) and Facebook (a Google poll). Yes, it's better to not go around voting multiple times, but we won't be monitoring things that closely. But don't cheat, that's just boring. This means the winner of each poll will be from all polls (here, Twitter, Google poll) added together, not per platform.

    Polls will run roughly 4 days, and be posted every week as a new thread (or on social media, as a new post). We may speed things up for the spin-off regions.

    Meanwhile, share some propaganda for your pick each week! Take about why you're voting for your character, and make fun of the others (respectfully, of course). We'll also use the results and input for a Daily article summarising the whole event once it ends.

    * Hisui will be treated as separate to Sinnoh.
    ** Spinoff games will also be considered! Orre will feature, while we will also consider the Ranger games' regions separately, but lump the Snap/New Snap regions (and hence protagonists) together.
    *** We may see what the Legends: Z-A protags look like before we hit the tournament phase... pending TPC(i). If so, we'll do a poll on them! Otherwise, one set of 4 polls will have less options... Or we can consider a second chance for the losing protag with the most amount of votes!

    Rules

    1. No Trolling - This includes things like voting on behalf of other users, inputting joke responses in the Google Forms, using bots or creating alt accounts to try and game the voting system, and other dishonest activities. Please don't do that stuff.
    2. Have Fun - We all love Pokémon, and we hope that you derive enjoyment and have a good time with this event!

    Kris 100%. Natural blue hair beats the looks of all the default protags from the non-customizable player character Pokemon games for me. I just really love colored hair lol.
     
    Kris, and it's not even a contest. She's so much cooler than Lyra, and even though Gen 4 Gold/Ethan is an above-average protagonist, he still doesn't stand a chance either.

    I could even conceivably see myself voting for Kris to win the final round, especially if Hilbert loses in Unova.
     
    My favorite protagonist is Ethan, since he was the character that introduced me to the Pokémon video games and for that reason I have a fondness for him.

    I still remember when I played Pokémon Gold when I was a kid.
     
    Meh. Kris gets my vote, but only because she was the first female playable character and that was a game-changer for the franchise. Otherwise, all of these character designs are rather bland and generic, so... yeah. I don't have any strong feelings (positive or negative) for any of the 2nd gen trainers. They sort of... just exist?
     
    Personally, the version of Ethan we get in The Legend of Thunder is the coolest.
     
    Kris, even though I've only played the remakes. Lyra's outfit is weird and makes her look like a toddler, and male PCs in Pokemon are pretty much always bland by comparison. Male fashion is just less expressive by comparison in my experience. I also tend to gravitate to the more athletic/outdoors theme designs, like Leaf, May (pre-remake), and Dawn (in Platinum).
     
    Lyra, I like her overalls and stuff. Also, the big goofy hat. Am I the only one who voted Lyra?

    I could too, but only after Wes loses a matchup because he's my favorite.

    This one is tough for me too. Silver was my first game, so I definitely have a bias for old. But Kris stands out, and when I had Crystal I did also play as her for a run for the novelty of the different sprite and blue hair. :v Plus, being the first playable female protag is pretty significant... and it was odd that she wasn't in HGSS.
     
    So on the forum, Gold won narrowly by 4 votes, with Lyra well behind Kris. But remember: we have the Twitter poll, and also a Google form I made for our other social media platforms.

    On Twitter, Kris won by 2 votes over Gold.

    On the Google form, Kris woin by 6 votes!

    Ergo: Kris wins! Pretty darn close (again!). Next week, we'll have a poll on the Hoenn protagonists - only two people to vote on there, and the first set who also count as rivals!
