Hi guys, new Who's That Pokémon? is up! Good luck with guessing, should be a bit easier this week :D

Also first exam is in 10 hours help omg :((((((

Funny thing about Pidgeotto/Pidgeot: it never won a gym battle. So I wouldn't exactly call it a beast. :')

Also I actually really like Torkoal after I used it on my Omega Ruby. One day I'll do a run when I'm using Ash's Hoenn team so I'm looking forward to using Torkoal again ngl.

It would have won them all if Ash did a better job training him. The only purpose he sadly had was scouting for Team Rocket and popping their balloon :L
Pidgeot forever! He has a better role of a flock leader now anyway, so good for him.

Squirrel, good luck!

But isn't that the case with any Pokemon in the anime? It can be strong or weak depending on the trainer tbh. And remember Ash just started out and he wasn't brilliant or a natural or a prodigy. He sucked when he first started haha. aannnd yeah. For the most part that's the case for all his bird Pokemon. Even Staraptor started getting shafted into that role while it was a Staravia.

Good luuuck Ozzy!

I'm currently working my way through the Diamond/Pearl series, so all of Ash's Sinnoh Pokemon are my favorite. The anime helped me like Gligar and Buizel more, and I already had Chimchar as a favorite Pokemon. Seeing it in the anime is incredible, especially since it's getting so much character development.

I have noticed a sudden lack of Staravia. It's just...not doing much where I am in the series (episode 33 of Battle Dimension). It's all about Buizel and Chimchar now.

Hi been awhile :P
Oh and ya it evolves into staravia then its out and i think he gets a new poke then he will start using her again which lead to him evolving it ;)

22

I loved Ash's Staravia. I wished it had more screentime. It got really old for me with Chimchar (never liked it to begin with) and Buizel.

24

I really wish they'd concentrate more on Pokemon that are not so popular, although why Chimchar is so popular is beyond me. I mean I get it, fire monkey, but I am not particularly fond of monkeys.
Example of what I'm saying is a Tauros. He had a pretty great screentime, althought they could have used it for a lot more than just battles. Snorlax too, etc.
Frogadier, Fletchinder...it's all kinda obvious. Also what's up with that pink dragon? It's a regular now?
Ofc, Ash, let someone else train a freaking beast Charizard, but take on a pink goomy dragon. Oh well lol.

Um... Goodra is a pseudo-legendary... just sayin'. xD

Goodra is actually leaving Ash's team next episode.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! And here I thought I was only one or two episodes behind, haha.

So is Tyranitar, Slamence and Metagross yet he couldnt use them. Ah who am I kidding, he cant even train a Gible.
Wow, I sound like a huge Ash hater, but Im not, its just that I hate how he trains and choose pokemon poorly :D

25.

Goodra is actually leaving Ash's team next episode so idk what you're complaining about lmao.

really, how come? Wait let me guess. "Goodra, yea, yea, you have to stay and take care of little goomies, but yeah, like , I will come back for you, 100%, most absolutely, trust me. LOL"

Is the XY series worth watching? I'm wanting to get back into watching the anime, but I'm not exactly sure where to pick up at. I haven't really been watching since mid DP series.

29.

To be honest Sven I'd rather not say anything ( to you) because it's getting pretty clear that you're one of those that say a lot of things about Ash's "character" that bother me. :x

But to answer Shark yeah, he's leaving next episode. And most likely to stay and protect his friends so that they don't get attacked again. I just didn't like how Sven put it because it's one of my petpeeves about what people say in terms of Ash and what he's done in the past and so forth. vOv

I care about my child a lot ok go home if you don't like

I say it's worth watching! Ash wasn't "reset" like he was in the Best Wishes series for one. And although the series is pretty slow for a bit but it's definitely picked up. ♥

one of those? D:

"One of those" always sounds judgmental to me lol.
But I am not saying anything that is untrue though lol. He ditches his Pokemon promising he'd return and doesn't. Most of his former Pokemon he didnt even catch. (Charmander for instance). Or what about Gible. Not only did he get a free Gible that followed him around, but he decided to leave a potential powerhouse in a PC.

Dont get me wrong. Ash is a great character. When I "hate" on Ash, I dont directly hate his character. I hate how badly anime creators are transiting from one season to another and automatically resetting everything. Who normal would just ditch all the Pokemon just cos they entered a new place. :P

31.

It's your wording. He doesn't ditch his Pokemon. He promised Pokemon like Pidgeot but it's not a case that happens every time. Is it really a problem if he doesn't catch his Pokemon? After all he's not someone who goes around catching whatever Pokemon. The Pokemon he catches are ones that he connects with. And that said he doesn't look for powerhouses for the same reason. Everything you said are common things that people say that bug me because they're not exactly right or are problems that I don't think should actually be considered problems.

And think about it, if Ash didn't leave his Pokemon at the lab how is he going to connect with more Pokemon and develop more as a trainer? And writing wise how else are they going to showcase new Pokemon? The fact that sometimes they restart Ash is a pain, but letting him start with new Pokemon I don't think is necessarily a character flaw and arguably not a writing flaw either.

But really, most of these things in the end are just subjective opinion so eh. vOv

32

They should've made the slogan "Gonnna catch only some!" hahaha
Yeah, subjective opinions ^^

34.

Well at the beginning of the series part of his goal was to catch all the Pokemon. But as the season progressed he realized oops haven't caught anything. Then the turning point of that was when Gary said he cause this many and Ash said while he didn't catch many he at least has a special connection with the Pokemon he does have. Or something along the lines and personally I find that more important than anything haha.

Best Wishes was the worst one when it came to resetting Ash's knowledge.I like to think his brain was on vacation considering he did originally go to Unova to do just that lmao.

35.

So Ash wanted to forget everything when he went to Unova? Sounds like everything before caused him some kind of trauma. I still believe, there's just an extraterrestrial force that wants humankind to stay stupid and underdeveloped and that resets the knowledge of everyone back to default after a certain period of time (which just happens to be when Ash wants to go to another region). {XD}

36.

Wow, I can't believe I just missed an entire debate about Ash. :(

But first things first, let me clear up one thing - the whole thing about Ash's brain resetting with each new series is actually a myth. Ash's brain only reset once, and that was at the start of Best Wishes. The writers felt the need to do this for several reasons:

  1. The production team wanted to reboot the anime with a completely fresh start
  2. The writers completely rewrote Ash's character from scratch (as well as retconning his age back to 10)
  3. There was no direct transition from DP to BW, and this was the only time in Pokémon history where there wasn't a direct transition between two series
  4. Adding on to the above reason, they felt this was the perfect time to start fresh in order to minimize the confusion for younger audiences
  5. There was a certain trend at the time in which many classic anime (such as Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, and Pokémon) were doing "rehashes" of their own original series, as well as resetting a lot of formulas

Now I'm definitely not saying these are good reasons to reset his character, but I guess it actually makes sense in the long run. I'm really glad that XY is starting to add more depth to Ash's character, which is really surprising considering this is still "BW Ash" we're dealing with. (But hey, at least Ash didn't reset in XY, so that shows some consistency.)
