What's your battling style?

    Do you battle offensively or defensively?

    I don't mind stallish pokemon in game, so I've used stuff like Umbreon and Cradily. It can be fun absorbing hits from the A.I trainers. Tankish Pokemon are still good when underleveled. They can stall for the team, throw status conditions around, and allow healing. I've beaten Red in Gen 2 with pokemon leveled 49-52 through doing this.
     
    Offensively for sure! The games just aren't hard enough for me to battle more defensively. I've had to use defensive strategies occasionally, like against Brock in Yellow and Tate and Liza in RSE, but never to any massive extent.

    Though I gotta agree Umbreon is very tanky and it was so helpful for me with taking hits in the Johto E4. Even if it barely did any damage in return. :x
     
    Offense please, and lots of it! I'm a fan of fast hard-hitters because I want battles to be over quick (exactly the reason why 'mons like Crobat and Starmie are in my dream team). In any Pokemon game, I always prefer to focus more on the story than the challenging battles. Thus, having to Toxic stall a Blissey isn't gonna be in my bucket list anytime soon.
     
    Playthrough: Defensive. (Or Mixed? Depends how you define it.) Spends a lot of time debuffing. Treasures moves like Charm, Feather Dance, and Eerie Impulse. (Was one of the few people happy about those as TMs in Sword/Shield.) Allows someone else to enter, buff themselves up, and devour the rest of the enemy team.

    Dislikes tactics like Toxic stall or whittling down with chip damage, however.

    Online or Battle Tower: Offensive. Favors Trick Room or weather teams often. Seeks to end the match before their duration ends. Played with a Round team before too. (Pairs a fast Pokemon like Accelgor with a slow powerhouse like Primarina or Sylveon. Chooses Round for both. Bumps up the slow Pokemon's turn to immediately after the fast one.)

    Mixed. It really depends on what Pokemon I'm using, if I'm being honest. Some Pokemon I really care about making offensive, but there are some I like setting up with. Of course, I'm not competitive by any means, lol.
     
    it depends on what i'm doing. i put more thought into my movesets in challenges, especially nuzlockes, but for casual playthroughs, i mostly just like all attacks and i like good coverage.
     
    Mostly offensive, but I like having a somewhat balanced team with some kind of strategy rather than just hitting opponents with strong super effective moves to win.

    Ideally I like to have at least two fast hard-hitters (one physical and one special), and at least two more bulky Pokémon (preferably with few weaknesses) that can tank hits well, and hit back with reasonable strength, ideally at least one of them with some means of recovery.

    Then maybe a set-up sweeper which can become a huge threat under the right conditions, and a purely defensive/support Pokémon that can set-up walls, disrupt opposing strategies, or cripple the opponent in some way to make the job for the attackers easier.

    I like winning using reliable strategies that depend on luck the least possible. Never liked stalling, moves with poor accuracy, and stuff like confusion, attract, paralysis chance, evasion, etc that depend on RNG. I also totally hate abilities like Moody because of this.

    Never found Toxic worth using in-game. Maybe it is a great move for competitive, but in-game it's just a waste of time, important trainers will most likely full restore and voila, all your Toxic work goes down the toilet. You better just buff your mon and sweep.

    But if my mon can learn a recovery move such as Roost, Recover, Giga Drain etc. I will have it know that as well.
    Also prefer to use 100% accurate moves even if I have to fork over a bit of damage potential.
     
    In the games, offensive. I try to get in moves like Recover, Giga Drain, Oblivion, Drain Kiss etc. but I still lean towards full power. Just can't see myself planning a stall team for an entire league challenge.

    Competitively, defensive. I hate annoying stall like Leech Seed + Protect abuse, or Thunder Wave, but generally bulky mons that can still do a lot of damage like Milotic and Rotom-W, or interesting gimmick mons like Sylveon and Drifblim are my mains.
     
    I just attack. I never use protect. I never use sword dance.... I am not a online battler, so I think it is just a waste of time to use moves that do no damage.

    If I am trying to catch pokemon, then I will use sleep power or something like that to make it easier to catch, if I have pokemon at the ready. I've just never understood the use of defensive attacks when just playing the game. Even nuzlocks, most of the non attack spells I just don't see it being worth it unless it is a move that can lower accuracy or attack.

    I have seen some people play nuzlocks and use defensive attacks because they need 'time' to figure out what to do, but just attacking would end up being better.

    Exactly this, ALL OUT ATTACK. Since competitive online doesn't matter, getting my Raiquaiza Dragon Ascend the whole enemy team, gets the job done. I know I'm missing on a lot of the possibilities from the game but...it is what it is.

Just one turn invested in boosting and Pokémon with good speed and coverage can single-handedly swep entire in-game teams. Same for dealing with Pokémon that raise their defenses, set-up walls or have a move to cripple you, pure attacking isn't allways the fastest way to win.

    I agree with this. Sword's Dance is game breaking and can nullify almost all battles. There's a reason Excadrill is so highly regarded on Unova playthroughs.
     
    I used to be a staller, but I always hated when I got put against another staller, because then the battles would be excruciatingly long. Now I'm definitely more on the offensive side, specifically doubles with the aqua jet onto steam engine Gmax Coalossal gimmick. Coalossal and I are tight
     
    offensively (i love putting set-up moves like calm mind/swords dance on things), but out of pure interest i've started to dab more into what it would be like to have a more defensive-oriented team, but that is more for post-game battle facilities than anything else.
