  • for those who are actively on pc, what keeps you coming back onto the site everyday? what are some of the things you do on pc? anything else?

bonus questions for those who've been active for 3+ years:
-have you ever taken a hiatus on pc? why/why not?
-what do you usually do on pc?
-any highlights/growth from being on pc?

  • I would consider myself an active member, but not a veteran. I have been on the forum for over 3 years because I had an old (cringey) account. I took a hiatus from PC for a while and returned with this account.

I keep coming back everyday because the community is great, the discussions are fun, and the forum provides me with pokemon news.

It's probably the members for me. Everyone has a great personality, and nobody posts just to post.

  • I usually hang out in OT, play some of the mafia games as well as forum games and Pok?mon trivia
A lot more active now than I was back in July 2015
Lot of cool people around PC
It really says something that I have over 1.6K posts considering I'm not usually too active on forum sites

  • I come here for chatting in some off topic chat threads, and posting in forum games/pokemon trivia. I sometimes venture away from those areas, but these days, not often.

In my early years I used to take frequent hiatuses for a month or more because I led a busy offline life and tended to forget about PC lol.

Nowadays I log on every day all day, because I have to catch spambots.

My friends and the fact that I love talking about Pokemon, really. It's interesting that throughout the dozen years I've been here, that one thing has never changed.

what are some of the things you do on pc? anything else?

I talk about Pokemon with other users and I shitpost sometimes!

-have you ever taken a hiatus on pc? why/why not?

yeah but I sucked at hiatuses for the most part because I don't have any kind of an actual Social Life.

-what do you usually do on pc?

I talk about Pokemon with other users and I shitpost sometimes!

-any highlights/growth from being on pc?

the highlights are the cool-ass people I've met throughout the years that have changed me in more ways than one! I genuinely think that once you spend a long enough time here, it becomes less about your own personal interests that tie you to this place and more about the people and the environment that keep you logged in everyday; at least that's how it was for most people that have stayed here for years and years.

seriously; stay around and talk to the right people long enough and i think you'll start to develop your own "circle" of friends (so to speak) that you will want to be around and that will keep you drawn to this site for years and years to come. I really do think I've grown as a person due to my friends' influence on me in past years and I will continue to grow as a person and as a individual from the conversations I hae with friends currently. Maybe I've grown to be a bit of a social butterfly on PC, but the fact that I also meet new people on a pretty frequent basis also ties me to this place; it means I have a bunch of other cool people that I can talk about my interests with and things like that!

... ok this response was longer than intended you can go back to your scheduled programming 8D

I came for trading, I stayed for ****posts and friendos

I've had couple of hiatuses, some long, some short. I used to post normally around some sections but now all I do is ****post random memes and other things c:

I had a long leave not too long ago and now that I returned I'm kinda happy I did cause I didn't really expect me to fit in that much. Guess I'm wrong lol

Growths on PC are my social skills which went up a lot, thanks to a relationship aswell on PC. It also helped out a lot on what I want to do with my life.

ok i go back to ****posting now

  • I just come here for the ROM hacks

I got into the habit of popping in here during my breaks at work. It's actually really helped me cut back on smoking a lot, so my lungs thank you PC. :D

Even though I'm mostly an introvert, I've found that I do enjoy taking the time to come on here and talk to people, even if a lot of time it's usually just joking around with people. There's also plenty of times where someone posts a good discussion thread, and that's always interesting. :D

Its all still new to me, so I could go on hiatus and forget the site exists. But right now it's a nice change of pace, since online communities aren't usually relaxed. Scrolling down a page and not seeing any arguments is strange, but it's nice.

    What does AMA mean anyway?
Calm this type of thread down, it's getting very random here.

I suppose an unintended hiatus. I could not log into my account due to password issues, and didn't wind up resolving until around six to eight months after.

To actually answer your question: AMA means "Ask Me Anything."

But Matt's answer above mine is one of the reasons why I stick around on PC. It's more relaxed here. There are rules that are followed, but not to any extreme, allowing the members to pretty much do what they want. This also allows the members to get to know one another better without having to worry about breaking some insignificant rule.

Which is the main reason why I keep coming back here. Because PC is a community made up of smaller communities. Even though these days I mostly stick to Fanfiction & Writing, there's still a community there of writers that get to know one another and help each other. Some people manage to branch out to other sections, but there's never a "you don't belong here" sense when that happens. PC is just so welcoming to everyone.

That's why, despite my hiatuses and attempts to leave, I keep coming back here. It's the reason why I joined here in the first place. Because PC has always been far more caring about the members than other [Pokemon] forums that I just can't help but get the warm fuzzies when I think about this place.

As for my personal growth on PC, because this place is so caring, it gave me the courage to explore my identity and become more comfortable with myself. I'm also more confident than I used to be in dealing with new situations, and I'm better able to be a leader in real life.

Matt's post just keeps getting more hilarious the more I look at it.

  • I feel really settled into the community, it's near impossible for me to feel that way towards any other forum nowadays. This place has always been the one that most felt 'like home'

Never took a hiatus though... surprisingly. If I'm ever away it's because something happened (computer broke, for example) or I'm on vacation, but even then I'll usually have my laptop with me. I've never taken a demoted leave from staff since I got modded either (August 2012). Most of my time is spent VMing people and modding, though ofc I also post around a decent amount too. yayaya pc!!!
