For sure introverted, for all the classic reasons: I tend to "recharge" when I'm alone, or at least not pressured to make conversation, and it can be exhausting for me to be in social situations, especially for extended periods of time.
One thing that comes to mind are weddings. I had to go to a wedding where seating was pre-determined, and the tables were loooong, stretching out from one end of the room to the other. Which meant there were very few people I could speak to, and I barely knew most of them. God, nightmare scenario: three course meal where you barely know the people in your immediate vicinity. Get me OUT OF THERE!
I do think the distinction has merit, but as with most "categorical" labels, I'd say I fall somewhere in between, but leaning further introverted. When I'm around people I'm comfortable with, I like socializing. It's not as exhausting for me. It's when I'm around acquaintances or people I don't have anything in common with that I find it challenging. I don't particularly like sitting or standing around in silence, but I also find it hard to make conversation. It's a tricky place to be in.
