Chit-Chat: a good ol' fashioned DCC!

ugh that sucks! was it anything you paid for in advance that you could get refunded?
My dad paid for the flights. I think he gets airline credit but that's it. I was going to stay at his house so at least there was no hotel fee. Still sucks.

A good sleep schedule is helpful in terms of mental health. I'm doing much better now that I fixed mine.

Every time I pick up Cave Story I'm like "I'm pretty sure I got the perfect ending last time I did this, shouldn't be hard to do it again" and then by the time I'm at the end I'm like "ok yeah I did not do this, I give up" lmao.

Cave Story definitely has a big difficulty spike at the end if you choose to go for the best ending, and the final boss fight has something like four phases you have to beat in one try. Keeping your life pot until that final boss fight helps, and using weapons like the Spur or Nemesis to not have to rely on weapon EXP (or be able to use that weapon EXP on your missiles) makes things easier. I always go for that ending when I play because I know it well enough that I can get used to it, but it's definitely a very high bar that sorta comes out of nowhere.
If people are interested in games like Cave Story but don't like the big difficulty spike, play something like Kero Blaster (which was made by the same guy) or Mega Man which I think is pretty much the 2D run and gun series. You may enjoy those as well and have a smoother time.

I purchased Cave Story years ago after talking about it with @Setsuna.

Which turned out to be interesting and worthwhile. I don't think it's something I would have ever given a chance on my own.

It opened me up a little more to the genre, because I later tried Super Metroid, Castlevania, and Hollow Knight.

Hey, I got into the older handheld Castlevanias after taking to Setsu about them! It's really neat how she was able to do that twice!

I bought a collection for switch on sale.

Then I bought Symphony of the Night and Rondo separately on playstation.

Honestly I'm not very good at any of them. Although I watched my older brother visit and finish both Rondo and Symphony very quickly. (being games he grew up with and has memorized).

I did beat the final level for the best ending in Cave Story... once. Think on the 3DS version. Quite a while ago now though and co-op is a different matter. Seems a bit easier than I'd expect to get confused where you are exactly, which is crucial for that part of the game. We could get up to the final boss, just got wrecked and not currently got the patience to redo over and over just to beat him again... and honestly, I'm happy we got this far as well. Janna's first time playing it after all!

It is a guide-dang-it deal. I remembered it all still, but did have to check a couple things for optional sidequest stuff.

I've been thinking about changing my username recently, I've had this current one (CoolKid575) for around 2.5 years, and I was in a very different place then compared to now; it's also kinda corny imo. The only reason I still have it is because I haven't thought of anything better.
